I love automation games. I don't normally care for bullet heaven games, but this game looked really interesting and I was sure a mix automation and bullet heaven would be enough to spice things up. It wasn't This bullet heaven game does a number of things but you'd guess the thing that is half the title would be more important. as it stands the automation is shallow and boring. You might like this if you like bullet heaven and don't particularly care about automation.
w game
Have had a wonderful time with this game. A fun mashup of the factory x bullet heaven niches, but leans more heavily on the factory part of the game. This is a nice introduction to factory games if you've been interested in them but intimidated by the scale and complexity of the more focused factory experiences. My main criticism would come from the battling portion of the game, it is quite simple and limited in depth, simply adding more monsters and scaling their stats as time goes on. There's an unexplained mechanic involving a monster that spawns 3 purple orbs, which go to the corners of the map, and when you collect them you get buffs to your potions. This allows you to scale exponentially that some players have missed when attempting to win or go endless. There is an ARG introduced once you kill a certain monster in endless mode, found in the collection log and takes playing quite a bit longer to discover everything for yourself. While I say ARG it doesn't require any fancy tools or knowledge, just paint. It was an exciting time coordinating and discovering the different elements of the solution in the discord. There are rewards that aid you in your future runs if you make the effort to solve the ARG. Overall I've had a lot of fun and would recommend the game to anyone that enjoys factory games or wants to try one out for the first time, it's a nice simple play loop where you won't feel intimidated by complex 10-step recipes with byproducts and strange ratios (though there are byproducts in one map that might throw you off). If you enjoy puzzle games the ARG is a fun thing to sink a few tens of hours into as well. There's rewards for the ARG, and there's plenty of totems to unlock to further enhance the gameplay, as well as interactions between totems to discover.
gud
Fun game. If it weren't cheap I wouldn't recommend. It really is popcorn factorio x popcorn vamp survivors. Tl;dr get it on sale or if the hyperfixation gremlins have chosen it as a worthy sacrifice. I like it! The problem is that the two gameplay styles DO NOT MESH WELL AT ALL. Sure it's neat and all but the main problem I experience is that once you have the "optimal way of building", you also now have a theoretical output cap that can only be extended by random rolls while also needing to perform physical labor at the starting four levels of a run. "why would you only need four levels" because on runs as characters that aren't VERY CLEARLY designed to be a "challenge run with next to no meaningful advantages", you can radically accelerate the economy enough to build 2-3 copies of the same weapon engine so long as you're not also constructing reagents to bind to them (you're not) or doing something else that requires six Assembler IIIs. Despite having cleared the game on Arcana 4 i have not one time gotten both charm slots filled on characters that allow me to obtain two at designated times in the run. Yes, even in endless. It's just too often the case that it feels more optimal to just sit there and grind money because the shop's not gonna give me anything more valuable than power crystals or occasionally small totems that are actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worth it once most of my board is filled. There are a couple totems that take advantage of your excess inventory such as Cat and Squirrel totems our lords and saviors, but ultimately it means nothing because there's just an unsung point where conveyor/assembler speeds CAP OUT. WHY???? The scaling is based on our build and the luck we get with totems/tokens. Oh also there are just some totems that completely upheave your entire creations, meaning you feel compelled to choose between a suboptimal run I like the game. I like it more than I should. It clearly has more soul than people seem to be giving it credit for. It's just a shame that needing to do labor at the beginning of every run makes it feel monotonous and boring when you stop getting ideas for experimentation.
min maxing has never been so rewarding
Great game!
The only issue I currently have with the game is... The boss shows up around 10 minutes into endless mode and it doesn't seem like you can even damage it. From that point forward it just feels like an endless cat and mouse chase. Other than that, 10/10, great game.
if you like vampire survivors and factorio, this game is for you! its hard tho EDIT: After playing some more; this game is a lot more than just a Survivor+Factorio game. It is a puzzle game that shines at its greatest when you figure out what works. When your production = attack speed and you start to get into the later levels, your factory becoming a mishmash of different spells and potions, all for it to culminate to vampire survivor esque powerscaling.,, its a wonderful idea. Yes it could it be executed with more polish and yes the soundtrack is a bit lacking but it is a wonderful concept and the loop of the game is very appealing !
