About

Swarmdustry is a factory building strategy game where you command the relentless evolution of the Swarm. Unlike machines of steel and wire, your production network is alive, fleshy and ever adapting. Hatch workers, harvest resources, carry energy, automate production, and weave sprawling colonies of organic industry.
Every structure, unit, and pathway you build is part of a living ecosystem. As your hive expands, you’ll unlock new genetic codes to accelerate growth, mutate workers into specialized types, and develop true automation.
But you’re not alone on this world. Enemy factions will challenge your expansion, striking at your hive. To survive, you must balance efficiency and ferocity while designing both production lines and defensive strategies that embody the hunger of the Swarm.
Will your hive wither under pressure, or spread across the planet like a living tide?

Seed-based procedurally generated infinite map. You may enable or disable enemies, trees or even water. You may adjust enemy difficulty and scaling, the safe starting area, amount of trees and water, as well as the richness and frequency of resources.
Build and grow your swarm. Mining and crafting manually can only get you so far. Build massive networks of trails and transit pads to deliver resources to your processors which come in different flavors.
Manage your workers. Your industry will only work as long as it is manned by different swarm workers, such as Movers, Miners, Fireflies, Santchers, Acflies, Jumpers, and Drones. Each type of unit has its own single purpose to keep the swarm going.
Distribute energy across the hive. Some swarm buildings require energy to function, while others require fuel such as coal and wood. Make sure fireflies deliver this energy to your buildings using the spire network that you will be designing carefully as they follow the path of least resistance.
Unlock the full potential of the swarm. In order to evolve your swarm, you will have to unlock genetic codes at the Genetic Chamber. This will unlock much of industrial capacity of the hive.
Automate building. Building a mega swarm base is possible thanks to Drones that will place buildings for you. You only have to copy and paste, and they will do the rest.
Defend or attack. As your hive grows, so will the creep generated from your buildings will spread further and further. A robotic civilization living on the planet will form waves to attack your base. You must take care of them, or they will take care of you. Bloodflies and Feastlings may be used to overwhelm your foes. Remember, quantity over quality is the way of the swarm.
Multi-threaded core gameplay loop. That's right. For fans of technical implementations, this game is designed to work not only on lower end machines, but also scale up the more cores your CPU has.

Add, remove or modify any recipe, building, unit and technology with integrated mod tools. Add your own basic or advanced scripts to run on top of the game's code easily. Modding Swarmdustry will feel very familiar if you've modded games before. You can upload to Steam workshop directly from within the game and even play with mods offline!

Reviews
Get comfortable, I have a lot to say about this one. I'll divide this review into 2 sections, one where I'll talk about the game itself, and one where I want to give me 2 cents on the whole 'Factorio clone' debate. About the game: Swarmdustry is a factory building game heavily inspired by pre Space Age Factorio, but with a Zerg theme and some colony management mechanics. You can roleplay as bugs building a massive factory and fight robots. The best thing is that everything has to be done through bugs. Your logistics, your combat, your energy... My base has over 10k of assorted bugs and game still runs extremely smoothly at 60 fps, so it looks like the game is extremely performant as well. The tech tree is scary huge. You have to craft DNA blocks at Genetic Chambers and use those to unlock new genetic codes, again at those same chambers. It seems that producing DNA blocks is faster than consuming them, so you can balance them using grabbers set to output mode. I haven't yet explored the whole tree, but it seems like there are easily hundreds of hours of gameplay in here. Is it just a Factorio clone: I’ve played the demo for 15 hours and I loved it. There is no doubt that the game is heavily inspired by Factorio. It looks and feels the same but it plays quite differently. You might have read comments that say stuff like 'hurr durr, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ factorio clone' and then in the next sentence 'idk how to power up my buildings or control item flow'. Idk why people feel the need to let the internet know they have basic pattern recognition skills and at the same time contradict themselves AND show that they have zero problem solving skills. It's a mystery for the ages. That being said, the game is hard. It will not hold your hand. It's actually slower to progress than in Factorio because there is a lot more to setup to achieve the same level of production. You need to spend more time on logistics here. Still, it's about as complex and hard as Factorio 1.0. Playing Swarmdustry for the first time as a newbie is like playing Factorio for the first time as a newbie, but without Youtube guides and tutorials. The ingame tutorial does an okay job at teaching you some basics but it could use improvement. To me, playing Swarmdustry feels like playing Factorio for the first time again. The mechanics are all different, though the goal of expanding forever is the same. I know I don't fully know what I'm doing because I'm learning, but at the same time it feels very satisfying when I discover a whole new thing that completely changes how I think about how to accomplish something. For example, it was a game changer when I found out that snatchers can take coal from other buildings fuel slots because all of a sudden now, a smelter array in the early game doesn't necessarily need a belt of coal running down the whole array. So yeah, all in all, I wouldn't listen to those who call the game a reskin of Factorio cause it's just not. This game has a ton of potential and I can't wait to see how it evolves throughout EA. I’ll come back to edit this review after I explore the game deeper cause I think I'm still somewhere in the early game right now. I don't even have green science unlocked, but for now I highly recommend this game.

Seems like there might be a bunch of interesting ideas here, but the game is lacking basic usability and the experience of learning it is awful. I didn't even get through the tutorial, which to me is crazy for someone with more than 1000 hours in factorio. The developer should silently watch a new player a few times and then build all the simple stuff that is missing, like a page that shows you the tips you've already seen. Refunded, but I'll check back again in a year or so.
If you've played hundreds of hours of Factorio or Satisfactory, this gives the genre a much-needed spin. Replaces static infrastructure with living ecosystems where unit ratios and trail priorities matter. Visually captivating and mechanically fresh.
It's a pretty good game, I really like it. I think this one focuses more on logistics rather than production. I would say setting up production and mining in Swarmdustry is pretty easy but logistics is more difficult. For example, you need bugs to carry all the items on top of normal factory infrastructure like belts. I also like it very much how you can transfer items around with bugs instead of inserters while still having the option to use them when I feel like it. Other things I like about this game that I wish other factory games included by default: - Copy paste - Construction bots - Basic QOL stuff like placing poles while holding down mouse click, item transfers Things I dont like: - UI is kinda basic, but only visually. At least it gets the job done.
Context: This game is being made by a single developer. Quite impressive what he was able to deliver compared to other indie games that has a bigger team of devs. Now for the game, I played Satisfactory before (never factorio) so clearly there is a similarity in the mechanics. The art itself at first glance looks like a copy of factorio but when you start to play it looks different than factorio. Using creeps to move objects from one place to another. There are different approaches to do it and they all have pros and cons. The tutorial is a bit bare as of now and requires quite few of trial and error until you figure out how the items work. The graphics is okay. Not the most important here but it's passable so it doesn't matter much. I am sure the UI will get better with time. Not much story either here but this is more like a sandbox style with enemies in game that gets stronger and stronger as you progress. Overall it's a nice change from other games. If you like factorio/satisfactory then you would like that one as well.
OK, I am enjoying a new factory games, the tutorial took a while and game up the tutorial as I cannot read easy after my stroke, but awesome so far, price high if you think you are close to the type from Factorio. $5 difference seems too high. but enjoy, it is fun!! :-)
Factorio.
Je met rarement un avis mais 25€ pour ça c'est à la limite du scam Rien que au tuto je suis bloqué en posant en miner rien ne bouge En plus les graphismes on comprends rien... 10€ j'aurais compris mais là
I bought this expecting a simple Factorio reskin with bugs, but the living trail mechanics and biological automation feel genuinely distinct. Designing my first bio-network and watching Snatchers and Movers zip across the hive is insanely satisfying. 3 hours flew by.
