This game gives me so much nostalgia from Lego Rock Raiders. I think there is definitely more work to be done, but the 3 basic game modes seem to really scratch that itch. Keep going dev!
Helps scratch that Lego Rock Raiders itch, enjoyed the demo and enjoying the release so far and at $2 its a steal. It would be nice to have 'Random' as a potential selection for each choice (biome, objective, etc) given there's no campaign like RR, just to lean more into the procedural aspect a bit more. Edit: Doesn't appear to launch on Steamdeck just as an FYI if anyone is wondering.
Not entirely cooked yet. Needs a bit more time in the oven. There's the potential for a good base here, but it kinda goes nowhere. Your goal is to load a randomly generated map with a goal you choose: find the exit, build a rocket, or find big crystals. I've played all three modes and don't really see a difference in how they play. You are then judged on points gained and time taken and receive EXP at the end of the level that unlocks cosmetics. AI has confusing priorities, and this is what made me pick Not Recommended; they want to clear excavated cells above all else it seems, but I still don't get what clearing those cells does aside from waste time. I need them to build buildings so I can move on, but they do none of that even if the resources are right there next to the blueprint. Due to that there's a lot of waiting around as your rocklings become reallllly slow when they need a shower. And waiting around for them to clear empty cells while they're slow. Sure, the optimal way to play is to place down a shower at the very beginning and then rush to an ore cell to build it, but then you need showers further and further away as you dig because they need to walk back to it. The demo has a campaign selection screen with the promise of a couple dozen maps, which made me buy the game initially. Especially because the demo map has you snake around caves and corridors by finding the one cell you can dig, and I kinda dig that (pun intended). But then upon loading the full game, that campaign screen has disappeared and I'm only presented with two custom created maps: the demo map, and another one that's barely different from a generated map. With that said the game is only 2$ and like I said there is a very potable idea at the core, and it's almost there. So Due to that I also won't ask for a refund - the price is completely reasonable for what this is. I would pay a few bucks more if there was more meat to it though.
A fun game overall. Replay value maybe isnt the highest unfortunately (I think some sort of mission system would definitely help). Although the map is randomized, it still comes down to "find the part or crystal" to complete the level. After playing 3-4 times I have to say that I am already bored. Building several garages in game allows you to sweep across the map in no time then restart and repeat. A few rounds I encountered a bug where ore wouldnt drop anymore or the workers became trapped (Should be a minor fix but huge game play affects) I think this game has some huge potential if a some more content is added. Looking forward to hopefully some more development. We all know its a RR remake and has the potential to capture that essence and run with it and create its own memorable feel.
Played a bit of the demo and started playing the full game, and its only 2 dollars which was a nice surprise. It scratches a dungeon mining itch or something, can't explain it, but I'm really enjoying it. Only thing I wish it had at this point is a randomizer so each of the choices for a level can be random. Update (11/17/2025): Played a bit more and do have some criticisms and bugs I have run into. I am still enjoying the game but large maps do not work well unfortunately. -The priority of the rocklings needs to be updated. Building should be before clearing rubble if the rubble isn't blocking the building. A big slow down happens on bigger maps in the beginning when trying to build something. Often the first ore you mine opens up a big cave and your shower won't get built because they will prioritize clearing rubble over building so they get dirty and super slow and you have to wait ages for them to reinforce the walls and clear all the rubble before they start building. -Another priority issue I ran into is for vehicles. Rocklings do not prioritize getting into vehicles. Leaving say a bulldozer unmanned that would do a better job of clearing rubble while the Rocklings clear all the rubble before manning the bullldozer. -Large maps can get very laggy. Should not be happening on my computer as it is a bit of a beast so there is something up with the optimization or something here. -The big crystal collector appears to be bugged. If I build the collector early the Rocklings often won't bring the crystals to the collector(typically only the ones that I found before building it) and I have to build another after finding more. So basically I can't build the big crystal collector until I uncover all the big crystals and it is rather annoying. -Another bug I found is in the escape mission. Rocklings in vehicles don't escape and don't count for the escape count, which is fine. The problem occurs when you find the escape tube and a garage gets built right after. A Rockling will get in the vehicle but that Rockling is still being counted as needing to go in the tube, basically locking the game from being completed. -Rocket parts can bug out and go missing or some parts just can't be found on large maps. Mined out whole map and still missing two parts, though one of those missing parts I did see at one point but it was no longer on the map and not on the rocket so it must have bugged into disappearing
Game looks and feels like student project or tech demo, not something worth (small for small) price. There is no challenge, missions, all you do is clicker to destroy rocks like its idle clicker. To top it all up, AI don’t have priority of my orders making you wait for everything, while they reinforce whole cave. I admire someone’s hard work but to ask for money for something that has 2-3h of underwhelming content WHILE we got Manic Miners project for free? No.
Super basic and simple game. the largest map size sometimes sufferce processing issues abut if you do not que up to many tasks you will be able to finish it. Or just do not play the largest map size xD But yea this is fun :)
