The controls for aiming your gun are awful. Hold Up or Down to change the aiming angle. I feel no need to describe how rubbish those controls are in 2023. There are positive things that I could say about the game, but it would be kind of redundant if it feels bad to play. Avoid.
the dev(s) really captured the feel of a snes game though they copied some of the bad thing to. Rocketron is a Metroid clone where the weapons feel more a kin to contra (spread, rapid fire, missile, heat seeking, ect). i do feel this game nailed the difficulty easy is easy and on the hardest level it will rip your face off and they don't use 1 hit death traps to extend gameplay. you find crystals to upgrade your weapons, hp, and walking speed (dash upgrades are found). one thing to note is how damage and weapons are handled. when you take damage so does your current weapon and if it loses all of it's bar you can not use it again until you refill it to it's max (or upgrade it). enemies drop hp spheres that give hp and fills your weapons bars a bit. the game has 4 main flaws in my eyes 1) when you die you are taken back to your last save losing all progress since then (yes i'm spoiled), 2) Metroid clones are about backtracking so it's nice when they add doors and items you have seen but could not get to the map so it's easy to go back and get them. well this games does not do that. you can see where you have not been though there are only 2 kinds of locks and drill walls. 3) when you beat the game there is no replay option. if you missed anything you have to start a new game and the last save point is a point of no return so you can not reload it to get stuff you missed. 4) there seemed to be missing story text but i'm not sure if this is on my end or the games. (reading other reviews there are no mid to late game story text out side what the broken robots tell you. this also means there is no ending story but they made 3 of them anyway) 7/10
Splendido gioco retrò in stile Metroid. Gameplay vario e mai stancante longevità classica per il genere attorno alle 7 ore. Divertente con un leggero backtraking mai pesante e un minimo di farming per rigenerare vita e armi. Ma nulla di pesante. Consigliatissimo
https://youtu.be/yxNEiTqVIMc Mechanically straightforward as a metroidvania many of the details could use an extra polish pass, especially for character controls to make the title feel smoothly delivered.
Heard joke once: man goes to mechanic. Says he's depressed. Says game seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels naked in a threatening world with a broken weapon he can't repair and is spiralling into defeat. Mechanic says, "Fix is simple. Each area has great room that spawns lots of enemies. Go there and spam Homing Ninja Star until they drop enough green dots. That should fix your weapon." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But mechanic... my broken weapon IS Homing Ninja Star!" Moral of the story: Homing Ninja Star is your friend, use it often.
Solid game and fun
Dev could have planned the saving points at somewhere better and more meaningful, but they didn't. The boss was not even difficult, but the route between last saving point and the boss room was the worst suffer.
Great run n' gun metroidvania that reminds me a bit of good old Turrican. But I can confirm that the game tries to kill you in the last section with hardcore platforming and bad music! Rocketron is still recommended though, as I had a lot of fun for the few bucks it cost.
0/10 it just doesn't work
