I played the demo and enjoyed my time with Roboplant enough to buy the full game when it was on sale. I've played a fair bit and have got to a point where it's repetitive and expanding will only be detrimental to the factory. The early game is really fun with research and having to expanding your farm to grow and fill the harder orders. After a certain point I was able to fill the harder orders quite easily and with 5 plant types my robots are constantly trying to catch up with the work load. It doesn't help that the AI will get stuck in a queue to store items, I've tried having multiple storage locations and having them only accept certain items but the issue still persists and I've had enough of just staring helplessly at them. I got 40 hours out of this and hopefully there will be updates that will address some QOL and the AI pathing. Would recommend grabbing on sale but be aware that it's a bit buggy and late game is almost an AFK sim.
Very promising. I dislike the botanical inaccuracies though, and there just isn't much content for its normal price. The dev is great, I recommend you support them.
This game was abandoned mid development. There’s lots of stuff that doesn’t make sense, isn’t clearly defined or just broken, I’ve tried to cover the bigger issues below. I played 17 hours in 2023 during it’s early access and another 63 hours recently. The Steam achievement, Make Profits from Utilities is no longer possible to earn. In the current version of the game, the page to sell water and electricity was removed. The two Steam achievements associate with worker happiness, The Bad Manager & Mister Evil are also no longer possible to earn. Searching through the discussion boards, I found a comment from the Rebelpug dev saying they removed worker happiness due to feedback from players. I ran my save file in the background for 6 hours with 60 robots at 400-535% workload with no charging stations, repair stations, or decorations. They robots still have their moments of unhappiness or nap and recharge power and gears to 30 instead of the full 100. It’s just broken. There is an in-game achievement associated with an arcade machine. This building was removed from the game in the current version of the game. I still have a few built in an early access save game file, but others have reported that the robots never finish a game before reaching their desired happiness level and return to work, so the achievement never triggers. The storage inventory is utter chaos. No search box, items are not listed alphabetically, quantity or grouped by similar items. The contracts to save Earth are a pain to deal with. You can’t open the contract before accepting it, so you’re looking at a tiny plant icon try to determine plant it is and if you have enough. You can’t see how many points it’s worth either, only a tiny plant icon and a number of days and hours to fulfill. I declined most plant contracts and just sent money instead. The worker population is capped at 60 for performance reasons according to a comment by the Rebelpug dev in the discussion boards. With a map full of rooms and machines, I was getting 20-30 fps. I found myself pausing the game just to move the map at the end of my game. The worker population cap caused other problems to arise with absurdly high workload percentages and not being able to produce plants fast enough for contracts for Earth. It removes the ability to play the game, instead I found myself just accepting contracts that could be immediately delivered and ignore everything else. The problem keeps compounding by the fact that the contract quantities always increase. Limiting the population caused more problems than it fixed. In the end game after all the plants have been researched there’s nothing to do and no consequences for ignoring contracts from those urgent messages that don’t stop ringing until you accept or deny them. The mini storm games are also something that can be ignored. The frozen robots unfreeze after the snow storms pass and the overloaded machines from the ion storms get fixed by Builder robots. Most of the bugs I encountered could be fixed by restarting the game. Three bugs involving power and water consumption and another not removing plants from my inventory after contracts to save Earth had been delivered where never resolved. Free power, water and duplicating packaged plants wasn’t exactly a problem I wanted to fix, but it did remove a significant amount of challenge from the game. Hopefully this helps anyone in the future searching for answers about broken achievements or game progression. I liked the idea of the game, I did play it for 60 more hours knowing it was abandoned and a mess, but I don’t think I’ll be playing this one again.
Terrible game. The idea is nice, but the execution is awful. Robots get stuck on nothing, moved buildings disappear completely, contracts require more and more plants to sell, room bonus is non-existent, room comfort doesn't work properly, overview screen and some kind of management is non-existent, storage platforms copy settings when placed over the old one, making impossible to set a different filter, and many more bugs. Research is only possible at one table. Building several of them doesn't make research faster. There are so many annoying things, that could've been improved. And in the end, you're just playing a waiting game. Room design is very limited, tech tree is very small. Settings and camera options are very limited. It's even difficult to play the game some times. I would accept if it's in early access, but this game is just incomplete. Can't recommend. At least not at full price.
