About
In River Towns, you place differently shaped buildings and make them fit into a limited area. Combine unique districts into a vibrant living city and help restore our River Towns.
Each of the three districts has its own set of shapes which are shuffled randomly. This makes every game you play a new and unique puzzle to solve. The different district's unique and vibrant architecture combines into beautiful little towns along the river. As the town grows, more townspeople move in and bring life back into this old and broken world.
Buildings also belong to differently colored districts which score bonus points when connected into large clusters. Getting a good score on each level awards stars, which restores the world and also unlocks more levels.
The beginning of each town starts with you restoring this part of the dried up river and surrounding it with buildings. Throughout the game you encounter other objectives, such as gold to collect, trees to regrow and old monuments to rebuild. This turns the difficulty and possibility of collecting points completely upside down.
With every city you piece together, the world becomes a little more verdant. When you complete a level, you will receive a gold, silver or bronze marker, depending on your score. Once you have enough points, you can move on to the next world.

River Towns offers a relaxed respite from the things in life that rile us up and leaves us ripe for some rational reassurance. As someone who is not great at puzzles or city-builders, this game is a lovely way to enjoy the feelings of both. It offers freedom to creating solutions while also having the graphical fidelity and lighting to make watching your little villagers a joy. I am thankful that this game let me enjoy two genres I otherwise feel unqualified to try and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for something different yet welcoming.
deceivingly simple puzzle game that does not break the mold but manages to stand out none the less.
Whenever I have nothing to do with my life, or I have no energy for any "serious" games or to do anything productive, or I'm alone and have nobody to play with (ouch, this doesn't sound good, but HEAR ME OUT) I launch this little game for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, and life becomes a little bit more bearable. Trying to crack a level, despite the random order of pieces you're getting, is still satisfying. It is a charming little game, with simple everything, but with everything - still being compelling. Visuals? Nice! Sounds? Silly and nice. Mechanics and effects are fun and easy to understand. Whenever I'm feeling down, this absolute charm-nugget of a game manages to put a little bit of a smile on my face, even if I fail miserably at it. I wishlisted it since it was a demo, and the full release is even better. Recommended for any puzzle lovers. And just somebody who wants to chill.
Как тетрис, только еще интереснее!
Great chilling game
A very cute puzzle game. You need to place tetris pieces just so to fill up space and work around hazards. Definitely chill and relaxing but the game itself is very short. I nearly 100% the game in just over 10 hours, only missing one or two stages at gold rank. Definitely something id recommend but only if its on sale.
so-so puzzle game with simple mechanics. 10 hours decent entertainment. -half the levels autowin-easy -poor achievements. no highscore incentive
Tolles Spiel! Schön knifflig, aber auch schön entspannend. Kein Zeitdruck, keine Geschicklichkeit nötig.
начал проходить думал о прикольная интересная игра и тут попался противный уровень. первый раз прошёл на две звезды второй раз тоже на две третий. кароче куча попыток сделал и на последней попытке мне не хватило всего одного очка. всего лишь одного!!!
I was looking for a puzzle game with very specific criteria: no time limits, relaxing but challenging gameplay, and short, repeatable levels. Usually I can find 2 of the 3, but all 3 are in River Towns. There's just the right balance between unpredictability and needing to plan, starting over to redo a level for a better score feels easy rather than irritating, and it scratches that Tetris-loving part of my brain that likes to see blocks fit perfectly together. Things I would like to see in future updates: an undo button to correct frustrating misclicks, and maybe an endless mode that continues to expand, just for the enjoyment of trying to build around the rivers. Things that aren't as great: the sound effect that plays when a box is placed feels more like an "error" noise to me, and can get irritating after a long time; the map sometimes slides around after a placement and I can't figure out why. All in all - I love my eel cult~
