River Raid 3D

River Raid 3D is a 3D rendered unabashed ripoff of River Raid, copyright Atari 1982. Amazingly, legal action has not yet been taken, but it's only a matter of time. Gameplay is a direct 1:1 ripoff of River Raid from the Atari 2600, the only difference is the 3D rendered assets and third person perspective. The implementation here is of deplorably low quality, and this copyright infringement has clearly taken place as an attempt to profit from Atari's intellectual property. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. River Raid 3D has an overly optimistic price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the game is very likely to be removed as soon as Atari's lawyers find out about this.

Great remake of the original "River Road. The 3D graphics also great. "River Raid 3D" is a faithful upgrade. I am a fan again. For the publisher, the only thing that I would is to use the "space bar" to start every scene, and if the scene is running the, pause on/pause. Then your hands never leave the keyboard.

Good upgrade for River Raid and nice to have it on my library
