War Tanks

War Tanks is a 3rd person vehicle arena shooter where you drive a low poly tank around a low poly, untextured arena and shoot various AI things. The temptation is there to call this an asset flip based on just how rudimentary this is, as well as the $5 cash grab price and the way it was dumped into DailyIndieGame bundles at launch... all of which are cash grab moves intended to grab as much money as possible from a product of the lowest quality. But the thing is, this can't be an asset flip, because the quality of Unity store assets is vastly superior to this lazy high school programming class dropout effort. It's really that bad it could be mistaken for a joke... if not for the hand out asking for money for this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. War Tanks has an overly optimistic price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
