OK... this is going to be an interesting one to review. Firstly, Rise: TVP is not for everyone. This should be obvious from the screenshots. It's not pretty, it has a steep learning curve, won't hold your hand and it strives for realism to the point of being quite difficult. It's a very niche game, is what I'm saying here. To a new player, the vast array of mechanics and features contained within the game are overwhelming and largely hidden. There's an insane amount of controls and methods for doing virtually everything and you'll need to spend a fairly good amount of time on the website, in the wiki and talking to long time players in Discord before you start to get a good foothold. My understanding is that improving the new player experience is a focus of the developer but as it stands currently, this is just how it is. If you're not prepared to spend the time required to learn the game, maybe don't buy it at this point. Now, that all said, what Rise does offer for those willing to stick with it is a massive open-world MMO with hardcore flight sim mechanics, alongside an immense variety of activities and features for a player to engage in and the scale of the game is huge. You can drive around cities, provide a taxi service, buy land, own mines and farms, produce goods, trade, dogfight, ferry passengers and prisoners, submit / fulfil contracts, fly around planet-side and, eventually, fly to space. There's also likely more, I just haven't encountered it yet. It offers a strong sense of realism. Never played a flight sim? You're going to have to learn to fly the machines you'll be piloting, or you'll be appearing in the game's newspaper as yet another crash statistic. Log off with your engines running? You're going to be out of fuel when you return. Drive your car too fast and smash into a gutter? You're going to get hurt. Forget to bring a cargo container along for a ride? Don't expect to be able to fit much in the way of goods onto your vehicle. This is a game that pulls no punches, it's not going to punish you harshly for making mistakes but it also won't stop you from making them in the first place. It'll give you room to experiment but it also expects you to play by its rules. It's unique, interesting and well worth the patience and dedication it demands. As for behind the scenes, I've been talking with the developer and lead QA now for most of my time with the game - both of whom are or have been professional pilots, lending to the realism of the flight mechanics - and from what I've come to understand, Rise is a serious passion project, designed, built and constantly updated over about 17 years. The developer and QA are also supportive, engage readily with new players and they give the impression of dedication, I'm fairly certain Rise isn't going away any time soon. Curious but unsure? Try the free version found on the RiseTVP website. Then, if you think it's for you, come back and buy it from Steam to show some support. I genuinely believe this is a great game to the right type of person. If I get as much enjoyment out of it as I do, then I'm sure others out there will too, they just need to find it.
EDIT: I changed my mind. The game is great! Come join us on Vieneo! I'm glad I stuck with it through the many hurdles (which are outlined below). The game is in essence a flight simulator with a living economy. You can buy land, create colonies, and then set buy/sell orders for commodities, all on a moon far from earth. People can then ferry goods to you (if you set your prices right) and make a profit while you get to maintain your colony. You can also get to orbit and dock with the space station in order to ferry colonists that came over in the FTL ship down to your colony. I've come to appreciate the depth and uniqueness that Rise: The Vieneo Province offers. It’s a game that rewards patience and persistence, and once you get past the initial hurdles, the experience becomes genuinely captivating. There’s something special about being part of this tight-knit community on a distant planet, working together (or competing) in a living, breathing economy. That being said, the game does have issues, which are outlined below. While they can be annoying, they aren't relevant once you get a plane and start ferrying goods. Old Review 09-04-23 ================= This game is very unique. The things that you can do are mesmerizing and makes me feel as if i'm part of this community on a planet light years from earth. You can buy a vehicle, and transport goods from the surface to an orbiting space station. The world itself also has a nice aesthetic to it, but others might find the graphics hard to get used to. Despite this, the game has too many flaws to enjoy it. A couple of Suggestions 1. Remove curbs. I have seen so many new players come in just to crash their starter vehicle then leave never to return. The GPS system in the vehicle is bad enough to where you need to know the layout of the roads otherwise you could get to a dead end trying to head to your destination. I feel like you would retain more players at least for a longer period of time if you just removed the annoying curbs. Also, sometimes you run over invisible curbs while on the road. There are multiple places with this issue. 2. Enhance the GPS system. The GPS system in the car is atrocious. sometimes it will actually guide you down specific roads, but 90 percent of the time it just gives you a heading and a distance. To make it worse, when you finally navigate the maze of roads and get near your destination there are not always markers to indicate where to go to activate the intermedia with the location. A simple large green arrow or something similar could fix this. This is not always the case, some buildings have names printed on them, but not all of them. Edit: Most of the above is still valid, but then i found the zoom buttons for the navigation system and it made trips much easier. It's = and -. [strike]3. Better Tutorials. The in game tutorial is 'fine' for just learning how to drive a car and make some simple money, but it was very buggy for me. Beyond this, this game needs tutorials, for how to make money past driving a cab. Video tutorials would be preferable as the in game tutorial system is very intrusive and annoying. There are "contracts" but they are not explained at all. It doesn't tell you where to go to buy a certain commodity. They have a wiki, but it is not very extensive. Additionally, tutorials on flying the different aircraft would be immensely helpful. I went to the simulator and flew one of the planes, but they don't have a simulator for the "starter" plane so it handled much differently, and it took a while to get the hang of it.[/strike] Edit: While I still think there should be tutorials on planes (or at least one) I have since found the wiki to be very informative. It was more a matter of not knowing what to look for. 4. Lock the head when walking. I get it, you need that visibility when driving/flying, but the movement is so awkward and fidgety. Movement should be a simple thing in a game, no reason to complicate it for sake of simulation. I will continue to play this game. I want to at least start my own colony and dock with the space station. Maybe once I get to experience those things I will change the review, but as of now there are just too many roadblocks stopping you from getting to those really cool things. Therefore, I cannot recommend this game.

IDK I could write out a whole thing but the demo is the exact same as the paid version including multiplayer aspects but you have a demo tag in chat. Game has like 2 active players anyway. The positives are a calming atmosphere with a feeling of vast scale, and primarily the in depth flight mechanics and being able to dock with space stations. There is even NPC ATC at the starter city and an airport chart for it. There is a separate website tracking flight paths and station locations. If you like using shuttles in KSP or flight of nova or want to motor around in a 90s cgi environment try playing it. Controls are hard though. Joystick recommended but mostly not needed. Don't buy it for the MMO aspects. Most of the time you will be the only person online on the entire moon. The 90s graphics aren't for retro style, the game is about as old as Eve Online and will probably never have an MMO playerbase. The moon is also bland and frankly ugly and permanently covered by clouds. Think Saturn's moon Titan. At cruising altitudes you don't even see the surface which is a massive detriment. City building works and is actually really interesting but I never got around to building colonies. Ground vehicles are mostly worthless. You should start with a plane IMO. But you can just ask an admin for one of the aerospace vtols piled around so whatever. The cheapest plane is also the hardest to use. Also you can get stuck in places with vehicles and need an admin to fix it. The sounds are simple but the desolate feeling can be nice, especially the rain. The 1 song in the whole game is nice too. I don't want to trash the game too much, yeah it's overall bad but it does like 2 things really good so if you care about those things just download the demo and ask for a plane (btw all the chat messages are automatically sent to the game discord so you'll be seen eventually). The devs play pretty often (to keep the cities from collapsing and starving I think). They might actually care too much about the game lol. There aren't many updates but it's 100% passion project so if it ever does get active big things could happen. Not right now though.
Credit to the Q&A person to try and help me get going in Rise, However I struggled to maintain game time as I was becoming a bored also having an ignorant Q&A person towards the end of my time as well does doesn't go down well with me. Got annoyed that new players were given the E-11 and me asking for an upgrade (Had the A-4), but denied, might be due to an ignorant Q&A All credits to the developer as he is willing to listen to idea's the gamers have to help improve the game. Player driven economy however felt like it was being driven by one person Overall: Game is not to bad, however for the price that I paid and dealing with such ignorant people, I wouldn't purchase this game at all and would say to people that if they want to play then make sure to play the demo instead your saving money otherwise. Such a shame that 1 person had destroyed my gaming experience.
Saludos
