This game would both classify as being one of those fake games you used to see in old movies and one of those games that are so bad it's good. There are SO many bugs and glitches after not even playing it for that long and reading other reviews apparently win 11 makes the game crash all the time (works fin on win 10) so de be vary of that. But honestly it's actually a lot of fun and rather silly on top of that it even plays very well and the guns truly feel powerful. For 1,49€ on sale it's actually a really fun game and i personally don't get the "mixed" reviews although they may be attributed to poor performance on modern hardware. *Edit: Okay holy moly there's a lot of crashes later one, yikes.
ROTT 2K13

THIS GAME IS PAIN
This is Rise of the Triad 2013, an attempt at a sequel/reboot to the series. Everyone can make an attempt, and this is an example of a participation trophy in game form handed to Interceptor Entertainment by whoever owned the IP at the time. The game is simply terribly made, and I have played many slav-jank games that are much more stable than this... Also, the game is astronomically difficult, but that is more of a skill issue on my part.
+Pros
+Uninstalling the game after a rage quit was the best part of this game. +Great looking weapon models +Soundtrack! YES THE SOUNDTRACK IS EXCELLENT! +Plenty of homages and nods to the original Rise of the Triad games. +Corny action one liners at every turn, I love that. +Dog mode
~Neutrals
~The difficulty of this game has almost nothing to do with the difficulty selection. The difficulty of this game all comes down to how good you are at slippery 1st person platforming. For those who enjoy this, or creedz climbing, or getting over it with bennet foddy, or just any kind of sick & twisted crappy platforming action, you may not mind this as much as I did. I simply don't have the patience to handle this, especially when compounded by the list of Cons. I listed this as a neutral point, because it is very clearly advertised as a FPS/platformer. Difficulty is subjective, and selective.
-Cons
-The lack of stability. This game crashes in between levels, when reloading checkpoints, and anytime you quick-load. Now, the quick-load part might be a really good joke, but is an actual detriment to completing the game. I don't have the patience to reload checkpoints in e2m2 in the fire area, and if I can't use the quick-save scumming to just get to the end, I simply can't recommend this. The stability issues have carried across MULTIPLE systems I've had over nearly the last decade, back in the DDR3/Windows 7 generation all the way up to the time of this review in the DDR5/Bazzite/W11 generation of systems I have owned. Simply put, this game is too frustrating to play without save scumming, and save scumming HAS LITERALLY NEVER WORKED FOR ME! -Graphics, at the time of release as well as of this review, have never been good. Covering everything in a sheen of grease seems to be the theme here, both in gameplay and visual style. -Soundstage is extremely basic. Turn down the sound effects, and turn up the music. I highly advise headphones, and don't put this on a 2.1 setup, or anything with a subwoofer. The muddy and nasty bass tones in every single sound effect really grinds my gears. UNLESS you have a system equalizer, keep it off your speakers. 2/10 RIP Dave. Gone, but never forgotten by our mutual friend.
Honestly, this game is ok. I'd only pick it up as a part of the HUNT bundle that also includes both the Classic and Ludicrous versions of old school Rise of the Triad though. This 2013 release is a product of its era where there was little confidence in classic 90s/00s style FPS games before Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal revived them. As such, it was "modernized" for the audiences of that time with an annoying checkpoint system. The production values also leave a lot to be desired as well as the A.I. is somewhat janky, the art direction and graphics could be better and the music is far less memorable than what you can experience in the Classic or Ludicrous versions of the 90s original. As other reviews mention, the Ludicrous Edition is the way you really want to play Rise of the Triad in current year. However, RotT 2013 serves as an interesting release and if you don't like it, there are some Steam trading cards to be had.
Also mir gefällts. Simples Old School Ballern. Unterhaltet mich momentan mehr als viele neue Spiele. schönes Hirn aus und Ballern, ohne Nachladen ausser für Ästhetik. Würde ich mir von Serious Sam so wünschen.
Paint by numbers retro style fps, but the only color left in the box is puke-green
