Rise of the Triad: Dark War is a classic FPS that tends to be overlooked in favor of other classics such as Doom or Duke Nukem 3D. This is a shame, because ROTT is a great first-person shooter.
Will of Iron, Knees of Jell-O™
TL;DR: I recommend getting it, but I strongly recommend grabbing Ludicrous Edition instead. Rise of the Triad (ROTT) is a fantastic shooter from the mid 90s. It is a spiritual successor to Wolfenstein 3D of sorts, the game uses a more advanced variation of the Wolf 3D engine, and is telling by the look and feel of the game. A bunch of cultists called the TRIAD have set up shop on some island and are planning some devilish deeds. You choose as a member of the HUNT, a team of elite commandos who's job is kick Biso... El Oscuro's butt! Play as a member of the team, each with varying health, defence, speed, and get ready to unleash absolute gib-filled mayhem. You have access to a small range of guns and a few rocket launchers to play with - plenty of ways to blast your foes to smithereens (literally blood and gibs everywhere!)and that is not all, you can also find some fantastically funny power-ups to play with too! The game isn't too easy (on Hard and insane difficulties') and it will test your skills, your patience and your grit. The enemies are brilliant- they look fun, they trash talk and they can explode; the soundtrack is brought to you by the legendary composers Lee Jackson and Bobby Prince, and it is one of the best and most bad-ass soundtracks of all time, tons of head bopping tunes to compliment your journey! My favourites; How did I Do? and Going down the Fast way! 9/10 While I do recommend this version as it is fantastic game (do not concern yourself with my play time, I played this A LOT before prior to steams existence), it uses DoSbox and holds up really well; I strongly recommend that you pick up the new Ludicrous Edition by Nightdive studios from the steam store instead, as it has all of the previous content from the original releases, it has updated visuals and it feels better to play than ever.
legit just a dosbox game, pirtate it 😂😂
Rise of the Triad (1995) is a first person shooter that's very similar to the original Wolfenstein and DOOM games, developed by Apogee Software. In fact, this game was originally going to be a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D but later became it's own stand alone game. Dark War comes with four different game varieties: Rise of the Triad: The HUNT Begins, which is the demo/shareware version of the same game Rise of the Triad: Dark War, which is the full game Extreme Rise of the Triad, which is a map customization section Lastly COMM-BAT, which is the online/multiplayer portion. If you like retro/classic shooters check it out! 9/10
Looks beyond terrible. Controls beyond terrible.
Старенькая Rise of the Triad, завернутая в DOS-эмулятор. Doom, но в другом сеттинге
Wow...i remember when ROTT first came out back in the 90s. I bought the cd with the random level generator and had some fun. Seriously, this was never as good as Doom or Wolfenstein 3d (which this was going to be a sequel of...). But I still got some play out of it back in the day. The game is still fun to just open fire on enemies, but it aged badly. The control layout is archaic. it worked fine back then, but now we have moved on. The game looks pretty bad. And some of the charm is gone. Plus with the new version coming very soon...there is no point in getting this one. I think I spent $1 to get this...so I already got my money's worth to do a run down memory lane. I don't expect much more from it. Get it if it is cheap and you are curious. Other than that...no.
if this was a light war would it still be good but rott is good game please play this
