Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.2/day in the week to Jul 20 → 1.5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Rise of Piracy focuses heavily on progression and growth. In your campaign, you will first be given a small ship and a handful of coin. Complete missions and find treasure to build your economic strength and relations with the other factions. You can also choose to fight, boarding or sinking other vessels for loot. Build up your fleet of ships and their crews to take on the most challenging tasks such as capture islands of various strength and composition. Defeating large colonial fleets in grand scale naval warfare. Hunt pirates or long lost treasures. Uncovering mysterious lands filled with dangers as you go.
Everything in Rise of Piracy is carefully hand-crafted to be a new experience and challenge, no procedural generation. Every building in is destructible, allowing you to level an island from afar via bombardment from your fleet before sending your crews as landing parties to conquer them. Talk to mayors of settlements and captains of fleets to uncover hidden lands, or find them yourself through exploration and investigation.
Piracy is optional. Choose to trade with over 200 commodities that can be found scattered around the world. Ports with specialized trading routes and dedicated merchants to trade with. Add trading ships to your fleet to maximize your transportation potential. Build relations with other factions to increase your trading effectiveness. Engaging in war, hunting bounties, or seeking hidden treasures are also viable means of building your bank.
A deep diplomacy system allows relationships to grow between all factions. Engage in diplomacy with every faction you meet. NPC factions will go to war with one another and their assets will change hands. Changing the balance of powers can impact your play-style, increasing warship activity, and blocking trade routes.
Fill your fleet with a large variety of playable ships from the 1600s - 1900s, from the light and fast Sloop to the tremendous firepower but limited maneuverability that comes with the 120 Gun ship of the Line. Taverns provide a great place to hire crewmen for your fleet. Fill your ships with specialized crew. Use them to board hostile ships, or invading and capturing islands to secure passive income. Hostile actions will have consequences amongst the factions - fleets of pirate hunters are constantly seeking bounties. Campaign difficulty will grow dynamically and remain challenging no matter how strong players get.

I hope it grows and improves. Lots wrong, but for $15 I'd support this single Dev, because what's here is impressive. Video: https://youtu.be/fnO5wzMZJrQ
At the moment the game is very bare bone with countless bugs but maybe in a year or two this game may get better. I do see the dev putting out patches so that is a good sign that there is development going. I say not worth buying at the moment unless you want to gamble and get it for cheap in case some day it may get better.

Yep.
This is a hobby project. It starts right from the menus where you instantly see that this was just slapped together, small things like most buttons not even having a mouseover. It continues to problems many others have raised. My main issues are the terrible AI and the amateurish feel of the game, for example ships sliding (not sailing) on the ocean. Systems feel unfinished. World and ships feel lifeless. Impossible to get immersed. I was a big fan of Sid Meier's Pirates, but this is not a replacement. In my opinion the developer needs to learn something about game design and maybe take a smaller project next time. Also customers should be respected more when interacting with them online. Live and learn. A fun sidenote about the quality; in my current version the Credits page has the line "This is only the beninging" which is obviously a typo. Maybe this should be the end.

This game has a great foundation so far, created by a solo dev, it's punching above its weight class. As a massive 'Age of Sail Naval Combat' fan who has played Naval Action, Empire/Napoleon Total War, and every pirate/naval game in between; this game is the perfect mix of them all. BUT It needs a lot more love. My biggest shock was the low-poly ships, but I quickly realized they are temporary stand-ins as some ships are absolutely gorgeous in detail. The early game of the Campaign is a bit boring because there's not much you can do sailing a single vessel apart from delivery missions. If you are lucky you can join an encounter and loot some of the ships/cargo. I made about 50k in total from towing ships and cargo from my first encounter. The combat is decent too. First game to ever create firing arcs for elevation. But it could still be better. Some things the game desperately needs listed in order of priority. TOP: - Sounds: The cannon firing needs a bit more oomph and bass - Cannon visuals: The fire needs to be improved as it does not look very good for a game in 2026, there should also be a lot less of it when cannons fire, instead we should be seeing more smoke, white smoke, not gray. And find a way to make that smoke linger for a bit which impact line of sight for ships. - Sailing: While the game is trying to be more realistic, the AI ships are kind of doing whatever, sailing off to the end of the map, then combing back or spinning in circles MEDIUM: - Some extra design tools in the Flag Creator: We need the ability to draw straight lines, create shapes, and add some symmetry. Right now all we have is free draw and makes designing good looking flags challenging. You can draw up an image in MS Paint and add it to the folder where the flags are stored (after you set the resolution) and use those, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the Flag Creator that way. - Real Map: Rather than a made up chain of islands, I would prefer if we were set in the actual Caribbean with Islands belonging to each Historic country of the time. LOW: - Visuals: More detailed ships, better land, building, and vegetation textures. Obviously this is low priority right now as the game is being developed. But hope to see it in the full release. Overall, this game has a great beginning and hoping it will get better and better as this is exactly the type of game I am looking for. Honestly, I wish I could join the team and help in it's development.
With almost 7 hours of play, I can say this game is a solid start to a grand piracy and trade sim. I have spent my time trading so I haven't had to engage in combat...yet. A couple guides I read suggested building a solid financial base before buying warships and wreaking havoc on the islands, so I followed their guidance. Just paying for things like crew wages and ship repairs (even from storms, yes there is seasonal weather to avoid) can add up fast. Doing Bulletin Board missions is an easy way to earn cash, and is actually quite chill, TBH. If you like Port Royal-type games, you will dig this game. I highly recommend adding it to your library.
