About
Become a God once again in Reus 2 by taking control of mighty giants whose command over their elements allows you to shape worlds, create an ecosystem of resources and enable human civilizations to thrive. Your choices will determine the fates of these fragile human beings, whose autonomy may lead them to great heights.
Utilize a roster of 6 powerful Giants, each with their own unique abilities over plants, animals and minerals that will allow you to create new biomes for humans to settle their villages. As you progress, gain inspiration to unlock more skills for your Giants, providing you with a diversity of choices.
With the !New Cataclysm update!, you can choose to take on more optional challenges. Leaders can now form relationships with Giants and each other based on their personality, become allies through trade or go to war. Humanity can also turn against your giants, sending out Giant Hunters to destroy them! Punish them with disastrous new powers, using the elements to teach them to respect the gods.
Terraform a variety of biomes, strategically build up different combinations of flora, fauna and materials specific to those environments. By experimenting, discover which combinations create the best synergies for the inhabitants' needs and goals, leading you into exciting new eras of their existence.
Shape the development of humanity with your choices as they evolve from early human societies to modern civilizations. Whether it's travelling to the stars as space explorers, starting a cult or wishing to cultivate nature, they will all have their goals. No matter the outcome, remember, you can always start a new humanity.
Each playthrough leaves a lasting legacy in the stars by generating a new planet for you to experiment with. Fill the galaxy with endless variations of life and be inspired to take a new path with your next creation.

Biggest thing about Reus1 was having to know from memory how combos worked, because you didn't have time to read for a high score. You wanted to act fact and reckless. Your only resource was time. Reus2 removed that and now you have all the time in the world to think, but your actions are limited. Its a huge improvement given the complexity of the game. It also now has a challange system. So instead of just aiming for a high score, you can work towards compleateing objectives, which makes the game much more satisfiying. Very big improvement over the orginal.

Reusには日本語化MODがあったんですが、Reus 2にはなかったので作ってみました。 AI翻訳ですが、一応意味が取れる程度にはなってると思います。 https://github.com/dewfalse/reus2-japanese-mod/releases https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3741430702
I kind of expected this to be more about building up a planet, but it's actually just placing random things into tiles. It seems to have extra unnecessary complexity, for example the giant creatures that move around? I guess they look cool but I don't see them really adding much to the game.
Reus 2 is the sequel nobody asked for but everybody needed. It takes the charming god simulator formula—giants shaping civilizations, people rebelling, you smiting them—and gives it a fresh coat of paint. Better graphics, smoother mechanics, same divine heartbreak. Positives: + Gorgeous new visuals make your giants feel truly majestic. + The core loop of nurturing civilizations is still oddly satisfying. + Replayability remains endless—every Era is a new chance to raise (or ruin) humanity. + Improved polish makes the chaos feel more intentional. Negatives: - The Era timer still locks you down, forcing restarts just when you’re attached. - Civilizations still go bananas against neighbors, no matter how benevolent you are. - Angry people mean you’ll still be smiting your own creations. - Coexistence is still a dream—conflict is the reality. TL;DR – Reus 2 is divine babysitting with better graphics. Build, nurture, watch them rebel, smite, repeat. And somehow, it’s still charming.
A splendid example of a sequel simply doubling down on everything good in the original. Fresh flavor, classic satisfaction, wonderful game.
[Note: played vanilla, without DLCs] - edited as I completely forgot a thing from the previous game, oops. Having played the first Reus, I can happily say this is a definite upgrade on the previous instalment! A lot of what I didn't like about the previous game has been ironed out (biomes can now be created wherever you wish, unlocks are thankfully no longer gated behind certain requirements, and the UI is far more helpful when putting bioticums down), and it's been expanded with more biomes beyond its previous 5 (mountain, water, desert, swamp and forest) with the additions of taiga, savannah and rainforest. Swamp has seemingly been moved into a DLC. As a result, I have sat down to while away some time, and easily found hours evaporating away - it's very easy to become absorbed into the game which demands a lot of your brain cells, but never in an only pressurising manner. For those new to Reus, it's best to think of this as a god-game puzzler. You're trying to combine animals, plants and minerals together in various combinations to create the required number yields for your little human tribes' demands. And if they start getting uppity with each other (or with you), you can get your giants (the instruments of your will upon the planet) to beat them up. I will advise caution - it is VERY overwhelming to begin with - there's a lot of systems to learn right away, and even for someone familiar to the first game, I was very much a deer in the highlights at first, so I can't imagine what a new player would think! Not to worry, though - the game is forgiving enough to let you bumble around and makes mistakes to learn your way around things. There is an awful lot of depth here, with many different types of animal, plant and mineral to get your head around - do not panic. The best way to find your footing with this game is play in one of the more softer modes like Freeplay. Things will slowly come to you over time, and the tooltips are very helpful. Stick with it, and once you climb up that initial difficulty hill, you'll find a richly rewarding game that deeply loves its source matter, yet isn't afraid to be a little amusing.
