Resort Boss: Golf is an ambitious golf resort management simulator developed by Gus Martin and published by Excalibur Publishing that attempts to combine creative course design, tycoon-style business systems, and playable golf mechanics into a single cohesive experience. At its core, the game invites players to transform a modest patch of land into a thriving five-star golf destination, balancing architectural creativity with financial planning and guest satisfaction. The concept itself is undeniably appealing, particularly for players who enjoy both sandbox construction tools and the steady progression of management simulation. The foundation of the experience lies in its course editor and landscaping tools. Players are given control over terrain shaping, allowing them to raise hills, carve valleys, add water hazards, and position bunkers to craft distinctive holes. Fairways and greens can be painted across the landscape, and decorative elements such as trees and pathways help bring personality to each layout. The ability to sculpt the terrain provides a sense of ownership that few sports management games attempt. Designing a hole that looks visually appealing while also presenting a meaningful challenge is where the creative satisfaction emerges, and watching AI golfers navigate your custom fairways reinforces that sense of accomplishment. Beyond the course itself, the game expands into full resort management. Clubhouses, hotels, restaurants, pro shops, and leisure facilities can all be constructed to attract visitors and generate revenue. This broader simulation layer tasks players with balancing expenses, staff hiring, maintenance costs, and guest happiness. The more successful the resort becomes, the more opportunities open up for hosting tournaments and accommodating higher-profile guests. The ambition here is clear: Resort Boss: Golf wants to be more than a golf architect simulator—it aims to capture the full ecosystem of a luxury sports destination. One of the more distinctive features is the ability to step onto the course and play the holes you have designed. While the golf mechanics are relatively straightforward compared to dedicated sports titles, the novelty of testing your own layouts adds a personal dimension to the experience. Driving a golf cart across terrain you sculpted yourself and lining up a shot on a green you carefully positioned gives the management loop a tactile payoff. This blend of creation and participation is a rare combination in simulation games and highlights the project’s creative aspirations. However, the game’s execution has often been described as uneven. While the toolset offers breadth, it sometimes lacks the refinement and responsiveness expected from modern sandbox editors. Terrain shaping can feel coarse, and achieving fine detail requires patience. Visually, the presentation leans toward functional rather than polished, with environments that can appear blocky or simplistic. For players expecting cutting-edge graphics or highly detailed animations, the aesthetic may feel dated. The management systems, though present, can also feel somewhat shallow. Financial balancing and guest AI behavior do not always reach the depth seen in more established tycoon franchises. As a result, the strategic layer may lack the complexity some simulation enthusiasts crave. There are moments when the systems feel more like a framework of ideas rather than a fully realized economic simulation. Nonetheless, updates over time introduced additional features such as tournaments, wildlife elements, and rideable golf carts, demonstrating ongoing efforts to expand the experience and respond to player feedback. Despite its imperfections, Resort Boss: Golf retains a certain charm for players who enjoy open-ended experimentation. The freedom to design unconventional courses, host events, and gradually expand a resort from scratch can be satisfying for those willing to work within the game’s limitations. There is a sense of pride in seeing a once-empty landscape transform into a functioning leisure complex, complete with bustling guests and playable fairways. Ultimately, Resort Boss: Golf stands as a bold indie attempt to merge golf course design with broader resort management and interactive sports play. Its concept carries significant appeal, especially for fans of creative building tools and niche simulation experiences. While it may not fully realize the depth and polish of larger-scale management titles, it offers a sandbox of ideas that can still provide enjoyment for patient and imaginative players. For those intrigued by the prospect of building, managing, and personally testing their own golf empire, it remains a distinctive entry in the simulation genre. Rating: 5/10
good game
I can't recommend this game which is a shame as it is what a lot like me were really looking for. It is abandoned and non of what was discussed has been delivered.

Interesting concept, shaky execution. I'm aware I've only played for an hour but that hour was spent frustrated by the following: ugly and awkward UI, clunky controls and BUGS, so many bugs... At one point the camera controls just stopped working, the AI golfers all tried taking impossible shots despite the game saying they would follow a specific route and there must be some secret incantation that allows you to start a new campaign as every time I try it just loads my existing one. Ugh. Looking at the discussion forum it seems the devs are doing very little in terms of supporting now. Probably avoid.
simply poorly optimized garbage
