Barebones Far Cry style game set in an under represented part of history, interested to see how it'll turn out.
Very cool premise for an early access game. I played the demo and it's a fun game set during the Angolan civil war. The road map has multiple factions planned with currently just UNITA playable. Surprised at how many mechanics are in the game already such as healing, stealth, some crafting (silencers, bandages, repairs), a capture point system, as well as a POW system. When you die there's a chance you can get captured by the enemy faction and you start tied up around some enemies. You can escape and sneak or fight your way out. You can also just wake up in a friendly post with a message of being rescued. The way healing works is essentially how it worked in Far Cry 2, you pull shrapnel out of you and then bandage up. The ai needs a little work, preferring they don't face rush you and try to suppress you more would feel better. Other than that I look forward to what's added as development comes along. Especially once Cuba is added and I can play Mr. Worldwide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBXEFzIutWo
way too rough of a state to be early access in my opinion this as alpha at best good ideas but def wait for more progress
As of first day of early access game is in very rough state, but it have a good potential. Animations are good, shooting feels pretty good, but little challenging, sound could be better, but ok. AI is not good, they can see and shoot you from too far, while I struggle to spot them even with directional detection indicator. Physics a little bit janky, few bugs here and there, as expected. Despite that I think game is priced right and as FC2 fan I'd say yes.
The Good Brutal Realism: Pays heavy homage to Far Cry 2. You physically dig shrapnel out of your arms to heal, craft makeshift weapon silencers, and maintain degrading gear. Brilliant POW System: If you run out of health, there is a chance you get captured instead of getting a "Game Over." You wake up stripped of your gear and tied up in an enemy camp, forcing a tense, tactical jailbreak. Immersive Atmosphere: For a project built by one person over two years, the animations are remarkably fluid, the gunplay feels heavy, and the 1970s Bush War setting is incredibly distinct. The Bad Broken AI: The enemy logic is deeply flawed. At long range, they have "terminator vision," effortlessly spotting and lasering you through dense, opaque foliage. In close quarters, they break down entirely, mindlessly face-rushing your position in straight lines. Alpha Jank: It is barebones. Only the UNITA faction is currently playable, the sandbox is thin, and you will encounter typical alpha bugs like physics clipping and occasional performance crashes. The foundation is highly promising
It's way too early rn but it has a lot of potential. Very excited to see where it will be going since my favorite Farcry alway has been the second one.
ts so good i can't stop myself, it's all over the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls!
Finished the map now, and I gotta say, the vibe is peak. The horror of loud, intense gunfights with bad visibility has forced me to adapt in ways I remember doing in Far Cry 2. It is still in a buggy state, laggy aswell. But the core of Far Cry 2's Heart of Darkness is here, you will sneak, plan and brutally kill or be killed. Escaping enemy capture was also insanely fun, the knife kills are brutal. love the game
Generally speaking, this is already a very solid and enjoyable game, despite it being very barebones and in early access. The game is clearly primarily inspired by Far Cry 2 but also adds some mechanics that you'd expect to see in a newer Far Cry or a similar game, flashing out what is already an enjoyable experience. The weapon animations and gunplay in general are very satisfying, and the game is remarkably stable. Right now the only thing the game needs is more content to flesh out the sandbox further. I've already finished the first region 3 times at the time of writing (once without firearms), so any new content would very much be welcome.
