Plays a little like a slower version of [b]Hotline Miami[/b] with co-op (Coop Miami?). You control 2 characters Ronald Reagan , 40th president of the United States of America and Mikhail Gorbachev, the 8th General Secretary of the Soviet Union with plenty of flavour text and political digs throughout the in between level 'cut scenes'. You are both abducted during peace talks in Iceland and must work together to escape the terrorists and foil their plot with Gorbachev's KGB know how and Reagan's action man heriocs. There are some nice game play interactions, your currently unused character can be called over as a sentry who auto shoots after you unlock/hack doors and some stealth elements requiring carefully timed switching between characters. Keep in mind you get one shot at each level, if one of your characters dies then you immediately start the level from scratch. The levels are a good size and offer a variety of different challenges with most of the guards weaponry randomised giving you unique options on some playthroughs. I haven't played the co-op mode with another player yet but I imagine it would be even more fun strategising on the fly to overcome the enemy. I recommend [b]Reagan Gorbachev[/b] to players interested in a politically themed twin stick shooter with puzzle and stealth elements.

[h1]STORY[/h1] In 1986, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev meet in Iceland to find an end to the Cold War. However, they get kidnapped by militant extremists, and now they have to cooperate to stop the terrorists from starting a nuclear holocaust. The game features quite a lot of satire, and the bantering during the cutscenes between the two leaders is really enjoyable, especially if you know a thing or two about the Cold War. The story also gets quite interesting, with some really fun twists that will keep you engaged throughout the entire experience. Plus, at the end of each chapter, there is a trivia question about either Reagan or Gorbachev, and while it doesn't change anything gameplay related, it's a fun little addition that I really appreciated. The more you know... [h1]GRAPHICS[/h1] The game's top-down perspective works very well, and the characters look pretty good. However, the environment tends to get very repetitive after a while, and going through labs and weapons storages for the entire game makes everything feel a little bit shallow. [h1]GAMEPLAY[/h1] While this might look like an [i]Hotline Miami[/i] rip-off, it has many differences that makes this its own beast. First of all, the entire game can be played with a friend by your side, and I highly recommend it. Reagan's main weapon is a katana and he can lockpick red doors, while Gorbachev carries poisoned darts and can hack computers, and both of them can pick up weapons such as silenced pistols, shotguns, rifles, rocket launchers... The other difference is the level structure: in some levels you will have to face many enemies to get to the end, in others you have to control stealth your way through traps, and some levels even feature so called "puzzles" (which means they can only be completed in one specific way). This adds a lot of variety to it, even though I mostly preferred the action and stealth levels. [h1]CHALLENGE[/h1] Playing this game alone is hard. And frustrating. Especially frustrating. The "puzzle" levels tend to get really tedious, and others feel really unfair, making me hate myself for playing this game. However, with a friend by your side everything is a lot easier, and I started enjoying this way more. And yeah, you also die from just one hit. [h1]SOUND[/h1] The sound effects are really good, and the tecno music is just fine. But don't expect any Hotline-inspired music, you will be very disappointed. [h1]REPLAYABILITY[/h1] There are 32 short but hard levels to complete, many trivia questions to answer, and 11 achievements to unlock. However, you will probably finish this in 3-4 hours and won't come back to it. Overall, this is a nice change from the Hotline Miami formula, with a satiric story and good cooperative gameplay. However, there is much frustration to be found and the level design tends to get boring and repetitive quite fast. Highly recommended if you have a friend to play it with locally. In 1986, Reagan and Gorby (as I’m now calling him) met in Iceland at the Reykjavik Summit to discuss nuclear weapons. We find our heroes in the middle of the negotiations (they even illustrated the historic photo – I nerd squealed when I saw it) when suddenly – gasp – they are kidnapped by militant extremists. They are now forced to work together to escape from their captors and save the world from nuclear Armageddon (in case you’re wondering, this is the part where it didn’t actually happen). You control both Reagan and Gorby and must guide both of them to the exit. This is where the game’s small nuances get kind of fun in a nerdy sort of way; for example, Reagan, who was basically the Crypt Keeper when he was elected, moves slower than the younger, more lithe Gorby. Not much slower, mind you, but it is noticeable. Reagan also picks the locks on red doors and wields a katana, being a BAMF and all. Gorby, with his signature wine stain forehead, is slightly more agile and can hack green doors. His default weapon is a dart gun with the “KGB’s deadliest poison” which can kill “in less than a second”. Both can wield more destructive weapons such as hand guns, guns with silencers, and, my personal favorite, the RPG.

Barato, directo, cooperativo y sin florituras, donde lo que se ve en el trailer, es lo que vas a encontrar, sin trampa ni cartón. Un juego corto de aprendizaje, ensayo y error que recomiendo junto a un amigo, con una dificultad media, según la habilidad del jugador y lejos de ser difícil. Rebajado cuesta un 1 euro en steam y si buscas en tiendas de keys o bundles, serán céntimos. Por ese precio recomendadisimo.

Enjoyable little game. It's a take on the Hotline Miami mechanic, with co-op (I think). Easy to learn, fun to play. Funny, too. The Trump/Putin update is a stroke of genius. Easily worth the price of a Big Mac / Биг Мак meal.

What a glorious game! I got this game because of it's relevance to history and politics... I was shocked to find out this game is not only an interesting alternative history game,but its surprisingly stunning pixel art, great dialogue, a playable reskin mode with Trump and Putin, and weapons, make up a great game full of action and stealth. This game has trading cards and a load of achievements which are easily earned if you were to put extra time into this game. Don't let the two-player playstyle discourage you. This game makes it run very smooth. Just play it for yourself, and you'll see. Honestly I just want to go on and on about all the positives, but I can't. It'd take too long. So let me leave you with this. Surprisingly great playstyle, good backstory, nice game. It's gonna be a very solid 9.6/10 from me. Why not 10/10? I have to deduct 0.4 because unfortunately the 'Sabatoge' achievement is basically impossible without a controller. With just the mouse, you can't do it. Also, the backgrounds for this game include two with Gorbachev only and three with Reagan only. I'd love to see one with both of them. After all, this is a two-character game. Also, why are the badges represented by weapons. I don't want weapons, I want something cool like Gorbachev's port-wine stain or the Iceland summit! But, here's the point: tl;dr Buy it. Buy it aaaalllll.

[i] My Experience [/i] My desire to play this game was a result of both the absurdity of the premise and the game's crisp SNES-style pixel art. I mean - Ronald Reagan, wielding a katana and picking locks in secret military facilities? Count me in. Luckily, the gameplay is sound, and the top-down viewpoint gives the player a lot of information on the game's well-designed levels. You'll need this information, since neither Reagan or Gorbachev take much damage before going down. The game rewards exploration, and you'll often want to quickly locate weaponry that will help your world leaders have an easier time, such as a minigun or rocket launcher. The rocket launcher, outside of packing tremendous firepower, can even create new routes through levels by destroying walls. Lastly, I confess that I never ceased finding it comical when Reagan and Gorbachev "spin down the drain" at the end of each level. However, like all games, it isn't without issues: [list] [*]There are moving platforms that will easily crush your characters, that move quickly and often nonsensically. Their appearance never failed to elicit a groan from my co-op partner and I. They probably killed us more than any actual enemy in the game, save the final boss helicopter. [*]We never did beat the final boss, although perhaps we could have with more time. Conquering this challenge required a twitchy playstyle that differed from the careful and methodical style we'd navigated the rest of the game with. [*]We likely could've logged more attempts on the final boss if the "Remote Play Together" feature worked correctly with this game. Although we've played other local co-op games using the feature in the past without a hitch, we couldn't get Team2Bit's game to recognize my partner's inputs. Therefore, we always had to play this one in person. [*]While this is definitely not an important criticism, the game tends to re-use trivia questions and has quite a few more about Reagan than about Gorbachev. [/list] Part of what is so great about the game is that the Republican party already treats Ronald Reagan like some sort of mythical national hero (although he made America poorer and less safe through his embrace of problematic "trickle down" economic policies and a pattern of reckless deregulation), so it's fun to see this doofus as the paladin that they do. If you have a couch and a friend close by, try your hand at cooperating to end the Cold War.
