About
SUBSUMED is a short to mid-length horror game about cave diving. Crawl through a dark, wet, winding cave as you look for 3 missing divers. Find scattered remnants of their descent as you find yourself pushing further and further into the unknown. You never know what's hiding behind each turn.
A linear, slowly paced horror experience.
Auditory focused psychological horror.
Claustrophobic and uncomfortable locomotion. Slow turning and crawling means anything could be lurking behind you.
A tense experience with limited sight range. Your flashlight only extends up to a few feet, anything could be in front of you.
A first playthrough clocked in at around 30 minutes - 1 hour in playtime, with multiple endings and various things to explore that allows for replayability.
Crawl from a first-person perspective throughout the cave. No traditional movement binds are present, you must manually drag your cursor to pull yourself forward.
Don't get lost. Use whiteboards to mark areas you've explored, as well as anything else you might find. They are your main tool for navigation, and are paramount to the outcome of your rescue. Use them wisely.
Document anything you may find. Do not hesitate to pull out your camera and snap a photo of anything you find irregular. If a diver, for any number of reasons, cannot be retrieved, document what remains.

I found this videogame through Markiplier's video and I thought it was an interesting enough concept to stop watching, buy it, and play it myself. I also want to mention that I found the price very accessible, especially since I’m from a third-world country where games are usually quite expensive. In regards to the horror elements of the game, they were very good, and it was a scary but fun time, so with a little help from a guide, I decided to go for the secret ending and 100% it. One thing I want to say tho, is that while playing I found a very funny bug that totally broke my immersion (but only around the end of the playthrough thankfully) in which by dragging yourself backwards against some walls and being persistent enough, you could clip through them. Overall, it's an experience worth the money, I recommend it if you want to play a short yet engaging horror game.
This is absolutely a horror game. It managed to scare me so much that I won't open it alone anymore. So yeah, the horror part is peak. The game has a monster. When I bought it, I thought there would only be cognitive hazard, claustrophobic stuff, and some kind of mythical mind-breaking ♥♥♥♥. But nope — there's a cave dweller. This is the warning I wish I had when I was looking at the store page. (There's one 'caught' flash in the trailer, but that's it.)
About the word 'caught' — huge spoilers ahead. You can already understand but I will say it anyway.

Last chance to stop

This is why I won't play the game anymore. That's the end of your journey. Most likely you'll either be stuck forever or get eaten by the spooky boi. There's a secret escape though. (Not a big spoiler — there's an achievement called 'caught' with the monster's face on it, the same face you'll see in the first couple minutes. You can connect the dots yourself.)
The game also has some technical issues — not bugs, just immersion-breaking stuff like being able to do a 180° turn in a ridiculously narrow passage. So the game did its job really well. It's genuinely scary. I'm giving the game a thumbs down because the game is a trap — just like the cave it throws you into (great meta btw). It promises psychological horror but gives you a monster. There's no catharsis, no meaning, just fear for the sake of fear. It's brilliantly scary, but it left me like 'why should I suffer if there's
nothing worthwhile
in the end'. If you want pure fear — this is for you. If you want a story that respects your time and emotions — well, nah. UPD 19th June 2026: I guess I won't open it not because I'm scared, but because I'm disappointed. Or maybe that's just my brain protecting me from admitting I was genuinely terrified. But probably not. Hopefully.
The sound design, the feeling of being lost and overwhelmed but holding onto hope, the build up of dread. It's a simple premise with a masterful execution. I genuinely found it one of the most scariest games I've ever played.
Обычная общага ночью
This game did such a good job with making you think there was going to be something that pops out every time you turn the corner. You devs need to buy me a new pair of jorts now
played this because my boyfriend got it for me, it was a fun play but i started legitimately hyperventilating all 3 times i got jumpscared. 10/10 game but not for the weak of heart (me)
Unfortunately could not finish this due to the controls, too much repetitive strain on your wrist. Otherwise has good tension in the atmosphere and music.
This game is masterful at building tension. What makes this game so amazing is that just when I thought the tension would kill me, the game made an attempt on my life with a heart attack.
Reminds me of Rodland of Pipes if it was slow burn instead. It's good. There is some great replay-ability to be had in the endings. Also, whiteboard mechanics were the best idea in this game. It makes your run feel personal.
The only thing I don't like is that, throughout the game, there isn't actually a threat...I think. If the game were to get more updates, or if the developer releases another game, I think having a threat appear after a certain amount of progress or time passed would add to replay-ability and fear (even after beating the game).
