Razenroth is an action shooter with a dark atmosphere, enriched with the elements of roguelike and RPG. All the levels, weather conditions, distribution and quantity of key elements are generated randomly. Thanks to this fact, a single game is different each time.

Play Magicka and don't waste time on this junk.
Razenroth is yet another of literally hundreds of lazy amateur 2D retro top-down shooter/brawlers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one does have a little depth as it has some lightweight RPG elements, inventory stuff, upgrades and so on, but that effort was wasted on a very middling to poor technical implementation. Unwisely, the developers decided to steal the copyrighted monster design of Beholders from the D&D universe, and these critters unfortunately are not "free" for anyone to use, just as you can't steal the likeness of Donald Duck (try it and see how fast Disney comes for you), you can't steal the likeness of copyrighted creates from Wizards of the Coast. So this game is at risk of a DMCA takedown at the very least... as always I can't suggest gamers should risk there money when copyright infringement is involved. One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer (with the exception of the probable ignorance of their copyright infringement), but unfortunately genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant PC gaming experience. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. The artwork here is terrible, it's a hodge-podge of amateurish "My First Wacom Tablet" style drawings used instead professional looking game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low, enough on its own to deter gamers. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Razenroth didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for destroying 50 objects, trivial to get, but less than 19 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 19 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Razenroth has the comically over-optimistic price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Payday 2", "Fallout 4" or "Civilization VI". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Decent rougelike, has a nice flow to it. It's simple enough that you'll be able to fully clear it in a sensible amount of time.
Razenroth, developed and published by Enitvare, is a top-down action roguelike that blends arcade-style shooting with RPG progression and procedurally generated exploration. Built around replayability and character growth, the game places players in a dark, monster-infested world where survival depends on quick reflexes, smart resource management, and adaptability. While its presentation is modest, Razenroth distinguishes itself through its variety of items, dynamic environments, and layered progression systems that encourage repeated runs. The premise follows Charles Carter, a journalist investigating the disappearance of his grandfather. This narrative framework provides context for the descent into cursed forests, haunted graveyards, marshlands, and underground caverns filled with hostile creatures. The story remains light and largely serves as a backdrop for the gameplay rather than a driving narrative force. Instead of cinematic storytelling, the focus remains on exploration and combat, with bits of environmental flavor supporting the dark tone of the world. One of the game’s defining features is its procedural generation. Each playthrough rearranges level layouts, enemy placements, environmental conditions, and item drops, ensuring that no two runs unfold exactly the same way. This system enhances replay value significantly, as players must constantly adapt to new situations rather than memorizing fixed maps. Weather variations and random boss encounters further reinforce the unpredictability, creating tension and occasional surprises that keep the experience from feeling repetitive. Combat combines twin-stick shooting mechanics with RPG customization. Players can utilize a mix of ranged attacks, melee options, and magical abilities to defeat waves of enemies. The character levels up through combat, unlocking stat improvements such as increased health, mana, and damage output. Over time, players can tailor builds around different playstyles—whether focusing on spell-heavy offense, balanced hybrid approaches, or defensive survivability. Boss fights add intensity, often requiring careful positioning and efficient use of abilities to overcome their unique attack patterns. Loot and item variety form another major pillar of Razenroth’s design. With hundreds of collectible items ranging from spells and talismans to consumables and equipment, experimentation becomes a core part of the experience. Discovering rare combinations that synergize effectively can dramatically alter how a run unfolds. The hub area between expeditions allows for light preparation, where players can purchase supplies and manage inventory before venturing back into danger. As progress continues, additional playable characters can be unlocked, each offering different stats and abilities that diversify the gameplay loop. Visually, Razenroth adopts a dark, pixel-infused aesthetic that emphasizes atmosphere over high-end graphical detail. Environments are varied enough to prevent monotony, and enemy designs range from standard monsters to more grotesque and imposing bosses. The moody color palette and subtle environmental effects help reinforce the game’s eerie tone. Audio design complements this atmosphere with fitting background music and sound effects that support the tension of combat without overwhelming the player. Reception has generally been positive, particularly among players who appreciate roguelike mechanics and replay-driven progression. The game’s relatively low price point enhances its value proposition, offering substantial content for fans of top-down shooters. While some elements may feel simple compared to larger-scale roguelike titles, the core gameplay loop remains engaging due to its variety and unpredictability. Ultimately, Razenroth succeeds as a compact yet satisfying roguelike experience. Its blend of procedural design, RPG elements, and action-oriented combat creates a cycle of experimentation and growth that encourages multiple playthroughs. Though not visually groundbreaking, it delivers depth through its systems and replayability. For players seeking a dark, loot-driven top-down adventure that rewards persistence and adaptability, Razenroth offers a compelling and atmospheric journey. Rating: 8/10
Скучно, очень простенько. Потенциал неплохой, реализовано слабо. От нечего делать побегать можно. 5/10.
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
