Asked for a refund. They changed the music and some of the sounds apparently due to copyrigth issues. The new music sounds misplaced and doens't come anywhere near the originally one. You can't feel the music anymore :-( If you don't have a problem with the music feel free to buy :-)
Disappointed by a poor rendition of a classic game that I have huge nostalgia for. My main concern (other than the rewind feature not working as intended) is the tasteless remake of music and sound from the original game. I understand there were issues regarding to rights, but this could've left the developers with the opportunity to reimagine the classic songs and vibe of the original game. Instead we get sloppy renditions of the classic songs that don't match the game's original impression at all. This version feels like a quick cash grab made with little thought into it. You do get what is advertised, but I believe it could be so much more if they decided to pour some effort into it.
Guess WHO's back, back again, Rayman's back. Ah yes, my childhood. MY BOY IS BACK, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG! Ubisoft is going down so hard they gotta bring back Rayman to make some money before going bankrupt. Will never forget the arguments me and my sister got into playing this. Thanks Rayman. The nostalgia... we need another. The design was crisp, and the memories wonderful. Rayman games are the reason why I can't play a Mario Bros game anymore. The visuals, the soundtrack and the level design are so much more inspired. I sat through this game with a big grin on my face, something that's incredibly rare. I swear I could not stop smiling. It made me cry a river. Welcome back old friend. Glad to see our limbless boi back in action. I’ve been a Rayman PS1 player since I was little, it was one of the first games I played as I liked the bright colours, and I played it with my grandmother who was an avid Rayman lover (she started playing it in her 50s and continued on until she passed at 75, the only person I knew who could play it without losing a life). Hearing about the anniversary release gave me so much hope for nostalgia and excitement to play a game I regularly emulate. I miss you granny, and I wish you were here to experience this with me. I have to say it's a really good collection. I’d even argue it is the best way to play the games on original hardware. The quality of life features make it a less frustrating experience for new players. We have five games, including spinoffs of old PC games, the SNES prototype, and the story section. The story section is really great; we have the entire game design, super exclusive stuff, and I have to say it's perfect, super beautiful. I really like the game art with Mr. Dark, which is perfect for this collection. The 30th anniversary edition is great, the widescreen makes the game easier in a lot of ways and is just nice to have and makes the game look great. I think the graphics look great on Steam Deck, it is smooth, and has custom controls along with the screen. The menu is really cool. Then, the music: everyone complained. Honestly, I much prefer the original soundtrack, but this one is really cool. I like it. It's a bit like Origins and Legends, but more modern. More people also need to check out the history section in the game menu, that was really fun and cool to watch and read through. I didn't play any of the game for almost 90 minutes. I have to say it's a really good version for new generations or new fans to catch up on the first few games. Honestly yeah, the old soundtrack is what deterred a lot of fans and the reason for a lot of the negative reviews, but if you’re a newcomer then it should be no problem especially with them being super accessible with quality of life enhancements. I’m glad to have it playable on modern consoles. I’m glad that Rayman is able to come back and be playable for so many new people. I am disappointed a bit with the soundtrack, BUT I am super happy to have all the DOS levels back and playable. It’s a fun collection, yeah the music sucks but we gotta talk the good with the bad. 8/10
They replaced the music in Raymqnwith Mediterranean travel music while the music was one of the best parts of the game. And they don't even mention the Sega Saturn version in anything which was always my favourite version. The music is why I refund the game.
Refunded only interested in the Playstation version but missing its original soundtrack. Cant play it without its unique music. Which hurts because this is the only version of Rayman i love.
It saddens me to have to give "do not recommend" to the og Rayman but it has truly not aged well. All notes refer to the PSX version. +the pixel art is still as charming as ever +some positive QoL features in this edition like a widescreen hack, save states, and rewind +the museum feature and multiple versions offered make this feel like a lovingly prepared package +-the new score is serviceable but it is not the authentic original -unlike later excellent entries like Origins and Legends, the camera is permanently zoomed-in very close to Rayman, resulting in a narrow field of vision. This impacts your ability to navigate levels, avoid enemies, find collectibles, etc at a very basic level -beyond that, difficulty is generally over-tuned & frustrating -the primary collectibles, cages, can have very specific and unintuitive spawn requirements such as hanging off a certain ledge or stepping on a specific, unmarked spot. Further, you do not have the required abilities to collect many of the cages your first time through levels. This normally would only be an issue for completionists but the game makes the terrible decision to lock the final level behind collecting EVERY cage. This means that you effectively need to repeat many levels to collect previously unattainable cages (if you can even find their spawn trigger) For new Rayman players I would instead highly recommend Rayman Origins (2011), an absolutely top tier 2D platformer
Nah, I'm not going to create an ubisoft account to play this. Edit: I did, I'm weak... but will close my account once cleared. Edit 2: Game cleared and account closed. Hurrray!
the controller config is busted, no matter what i do it acknowledges 'A' as 'B' and vice versa, a lot of the music that made this game important is straight up missing and replaced, do not buy this version go get the one on GoG
Its interesting to have all of the versions you could play here. The different OST is not much of a deal breaker so i'd give it a check.
New music sucks, the Jaguar version is pointless, and no fullscreen/widescreen on most versions. Glad I bought on sale as the OG PSX version is still better. And extra minus points for no cloud saves, and adding Ubi connect.
