Developer: BAD games. I feel BAD dissing this game, because it seems like the developer's first game ever...but... So Sonic and Mario had a baby with Rocket from guardians of the galaxy. BAD took the poor baby, shoved a stick up it's a$$. Then told it to run around with very BAD physics and very BAD hitbox detection algorithm collecting coins and berries and jumping on orc heads. The BAD: 1. For a platformer, the jump physics is A$$. It feels like you're jumping with some sort of invisible linear jetpack with no gravity. 2. Keyboard response is a$$ it just jumps whenever the hell it feels like no matter when you press the spacebar. 3. Hitbox detection is a$$ - You don't know when you're going to end up killing and enemy or if you land a coindrop to the left of it's head, you die. You need to land SPOT ON the center of the head, if you ever so dare to sneeze, blink or fart you'll miss the mark and loop back to the beginning of the stage. 4. Death - There's no death animation really. You just magically teleport back to the beginning of the stage 'WHOOP'. Lazy! 5. Music - Happy 3 tune 'my first game' stock idle elevator music on repeat makes you want to headbutt the screen after 5 seconds. 6. Story - Is there a story? I wasn't paying attention...something with orcs wanting to murder the raccoon's face. 7. Animation - Something is really weird with the jump animation there. It looks like he's having a seizure. 8. Level design - Some places seem like safe platforms to land on but you plummet to your death because it's part of the background. Didn't anyone test this game before releasing it?! 9. Enemy AI - There is none. The orcs just slide left and right like idiots. The good: 1. Eeehhhh...the...graphics..is...ok? I guess... OK I've got nothing, I'm trying here. 2. The orcs explode in a very generic 'pwef' way when you boop their heads so ok that's kind of funny. There I found something good. If this game was free I'd like the awfulness slide. But it's not free. Don't pay money for this. I enhanced the salt for comedic effect, so I'm sorry not sorry, but seriously, even if it's the developer's first game, please, stop posting awful games on steam and charge money. You want to make a game? Great! Make it good, keep working on it, improve it to the point it's not a$$ THEN try to charge money for it on steam.
I can't recommend this game. It's a shame, because it looks cute. The graphics are alright, I guess. But for some reason, the game feels choppy. My PC is fine, so I don't understand why this game skips frames like that. The gameplay is very simple, to the point of being boring. The game is very floaty too. A major problem is that jumping feels unresponsive. If you press space, sometimes you don't jump. If you jump on enemies, sometimes they die, sometimes you die and sometimes both die. And if you're standing on a ledge, you can't jump at all. The enemies just accelerate towards you. Every enemy does. Different enemies would have been nice. The music is meh. Most of it is some loop that's only a few seconds long. It may drive you crazy. It's okay for a free game or a "my first game" kind of scenario, but it's certainly not worth money.
This game is pretty awful. It's made in Unity. All you gotta do to progress is do the jumps and kill some orcs. However, theres a lot of frameskips. It makes jumping not register sometimes and makes it tricky to kill orcs. You get a headache after a while. Theres nothing here to hook you up. It's just a basic running and jumping game.
Could be better, by that in particular I mean...there are a lot of bugs first hand . First, the first map I dropped down right when you start and I was able to be in a glitch and run through the whole map, happens if you go forward , drop down with out jumping I believe. When you jump on certain rocks to get to the other, the consistency is not there, there is way too many times it just doesn't jump when you are jumping...and there for you fall off, and sometimes you have to restart all over because of that (3 lives a level). The graphics are sweet, the game play felt nice, I like the characters and the enemies look cool. The coins (when you pick them up) sounded too generic and sounded like mario. The Orcs when you jump on them , even directly sometimes you get the kill and you still lose a life... nothing is wrong with the game that the devs can't fix real quick so I give it a thumbs up!
For a dev's first game, it's not bad. Not bad at all. I'm hoping their game that's planned for release later this year is more interesting. If you want to support an aspiring developer, go for it. That being said, it's a very cookie-cutter basic platformer. What you see in the trailer is mostly what you get. Nothing's inherently wrong with that, albeit a bit uninspired. To be more critical, the story is bland, the gameplay isn't much better, and the music selection isn't great. My main gripe with the game is that you can't jump on slopes. This has made me take damage on multiple occasions and just adds a bit of frustration to the casual playthough. I'm also not a fan of starting at the beginning of each level after taking damage. As a final note, I saw that the dev said there were puzzles and boss fights. If what they meant was just having a larger enemy than normal, then I guess that counts. Bosses are typically more advanced than normal enemies in some way. As for puzzles, the only thing that comes close to it is pushing a boulder into a portal, and I wouldn't even consider that one, either. What I guess I'm trying to say is I hope the dev tries to be a little more creative with the next project.

Warning: Asset Flip!
Raccoon: The Orc Invasion is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", SP GAMES/BD Games, took the 2D Forest Assets Pack tutorial/demo/game asset pack from the real developers, Olan Artworks, dumped it on a Unity platformer template they stole from someone else, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. At no point did the developer credit any of the real developers work that he stole and is trying to profit from, whether the assets permit that or not, taking the work of others and claiming it as your own is plagiarism, and highly unethical, especially when you try to profit from that, as the asset flipper here is trying to do. SP GAMES/BD Games has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Tank Commander: Battlefield" = Battle Tank Starter Kit developed by Hardworker Studio
"WWII Tanks: Battlefield" = Physics Tank Maker developed by Chobi
"WWII Tanks: Forgotten Battles" = Physics Tank Maker developed by Chobi
"Battle Tanks: Arena" = Kawaii Tanks Project developed by Chobi
The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "2D Forest Assets Pack" is just a set of generic background assets, combined with the Cute Raccoon asset from Null Painter Error from Itch (used without credit), and orcs from the 2D Game Orcs asset pack from CraftPix, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so this copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from SP GAMES/BD Games.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Very beautiful and enjoyable game! Very similar to modern mario!
Mmm, nope, sorry. Buggy mess. I normally kind of enjoy playing these asset flip glitchy games, but this one is just senseless. I'm too lazy to go into details, tho, I just wouldn't really recommend it. EDIT: I changed my mind about not going int details. I normally don't just leave negative reviews, and when I do, the purpose is mostly to let the developer know what can be improved. So here we go: This is a one-button platformer, meaning you can only move left and right and jump. That's how you progress through the levels and how you kill the orcs. You have three lives and you collect coins each level. There is a counter for coins. There is also an extra life in each level. So far, this is fine. But there are bugs and nonsensical mechanics. Firstly, I found that some of the coins are unreachable. You can't control the height of your jump, meaning that whether you quickly tap the jump button or you long-press it, the resulting jump is exactly the same. This could be implemented (variable height in jumps depending on how long you press the button). The behavior of some of the orcs is weird, and some of them will chase after you and even fall to their "deaths" (they will fall but they won't really die, some of them will stay suspended in mid-air or between a platform and nothingness). If a platform is not perfectly horizontal, you can't jump off it (!). So there is this level where there is a big orc at the end and a leaning platform you can't jump off of, so it's not really clear how to pass through. I found that if instead of jumping onto the platform you just walk, it will send you flying high enough to jump over the orc. I think this is some sort of glitch that you need to exploit in order to pass the level. The coin counter is pointless, coins are pointless, as a matter of fact. When you finish each level you go through a "forest store" where you automatically exchange all of your coins for a life, I guess, only you don't really need a life since you will start the next level with three lives, regardless of how many you had left when you finished the previous level, so, what's up with that? The final level: oof! There is a moving platform by the end of the level that will make you slide to the right even if you're not moving. At the very end, there is a giant boulder, a big orc and some kind of portal. So, the first time, I climbed to the top of the boulder to jump on the orc and kill it. Then, I figured that was the end and I just needed to go through the portal, so I did and boom, I died and started at the beginning of the level. Go through the whole thing again and when I reach the portal, the boulder is not there anymore, so I try jumping over the portal, which is impossible and die again. I save the game and restart from the beginning. So, I do the same again, jump on the boulder, kill the orc and then stop to think. Well, yea, very counter-intuitive, but you actually have to roll the boulder through the portal to, I guess, destroy it? And that's the end of the game. Finished in half an hour. I guess if all of the previous issues could be solved, the game would actually be a little more decent. Even though the game is cheap, there are better games out there within the same price range.
