About
EVERY RACE IS DIFFERENT.
This is Rattus VELOCITAS, an arcade racing game where Rats with Jet-powered hoverbikes compete for pole position in procedurally generated race courses! Collect items to give yourself an advantage or take out the competition in this high speed rodent frenzy!
RACE IN VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTS!
5 different environments are available to race in, all with randomised race course layouts, including Desert, Forest, Space Station, The Volcanic Region and a suspiciously race track shaped beach. Some races even happen at different times of day, with varying hazards to watch out for!
COLLECT ITEMS TO BOOST YOUR SPEED OR TAKE OUT THE COMPETITION!
5 different items are obtainable in-race, including Missiles, Bombs, two types of Cheese, Portable Dash Ring projectors and Shields. There's also a 6th mysterious item... Legends say it reacts explosively to shields.
MULTIPLE WAYS TO PLAY!
To begin with, you'll only have a single mode. However, once onboarded to the Rat Race, you'll unlock more ways to start races, including choosing your desired race environment and CPU racer difficulty or even replaying a previous race course random seed! Alpha, Beta and Gamma class thrusters set the speed for your racing experience, with faster thrusters making for more exhilarating races!
FANCY RAT COLOURS AWAIT.
Up to 7 fancy rat colour patterns are selectable to customise your Rat, with additional colour patterns being unlockable with certain milestones!
PLAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS!
This game can be enjoyed on your own or with up to 4 players on a single PC!
With the introduction of the Online mode update, it is now also possible to play with friends across the internet!
Play Quick Race against random players or setup your own lobby with friends to race in for the ultimate curated multiplayer experience.*

This game has no right being this good. Let’s just get the obvious out of the way: no, this is not a hyper-polished AAA visual experience. The graphics are functional at best, downright silly at times - But that adds to the charm. When you play the game, it feels just right. It leans into the absurdity. The animations and assets somehow work, because underneath the surface is a game that’s tightly designed, shockingly deep, and genuinely addictive. The controls are incredibly responsive. Within minutes you’re pulling off moves that make you feel way smarter than you actually are. It channels the best of Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing, but without the rubberbanding nonsense. If you lose, it’s probably because you misjudged a turn, timed a boost wrong, or tried to cheese a shortcut and got karma'd - and you’ll immediately queue up for another go. The Track variety and design is legit just wild. The game doesn’t just have a bunch of tracks, it generates new ones randomly, which means every race feels fresh. You never really “learn” a course the same way twice. It keeps you on your toes without feeling unfair. Even the track types have a satisfying rhythm to them once you get the hang of it. Power-ups are deceptively clever. What seems goofy at first (cheese boost??) actually turns out to be deeply strategic. Every item has a trade-off. The cheese boost slows you down before launching you forward; is the payoff worth it in the middle of a tight turn? That depends. You’re constantly making tiny decisions that add up, and once you start thinking two turns ahead, the game reveals a whole new layer of strategy. Boost throwing is genius. You can toss your own speed boosts and sync them with track boosts for a combo effect. It sounds small, but it changes everything. Suddenly, you’re planning out boost chains, predicting where others will drop theirs, and creating these little flow-state moments that are just incredibly satisfying. The core loop? Utterly addictive. Races are short, intense, and rewarding - win or lose. The game is fast-paced but never overwhelming. You always feel like you’re just a couple better decisions away from a perfect run. If you play well, you win. If you mess up, you feel it - but it’s never unfair. It’s refreshingly honest. You can feel yourself improving every race, and that’s what makes it addicting. It’s got that “just one more” energy because your growth is real, not artificial. It’s clear this game was made with love and serious attention to game feel and design. Every mechanic feels tuned, every system has purpose, and it’s clear the dev actually plays their own game. It’s rare to find something that feels this handcrafted and fun at the same time. Hidden gem. Play it.
pros -fun -always different cons -DAMN COCONUTS
Hidden gem of a game, from the stylised graphics to the smooth gameplay it is a joy to play, a throwback to when games where made with fun in mind! 10/10 would recommend
Do you like speed? racing? rats? I like two of those things. To question why this is a racing game featuring rats is to question why the grass is green or the ocean is blue. It just be. Game's surprisingly polished and the racing can get crazy fast once you start chaining together several boosts. It could absolutely benefit from a larger track selection but for less the cost for a cup of coffee (when its on sale), you can't go wrong.
Awesome game, I wish I could add laps in online lobbies with friends for maybe a little more comeback opportunity but for the price this is the perfect pick up and play game with some pals. Fast and fun with rats!
This game changed my life for the better
