RAINBOW HIGH™: RUNWAY RUSH

No spoilers! :) I recommend this for ALL AGES, however I'm guessing anyone younger than 6 may find it challenging? It's a good cozy game, it was super relaxing and fun! For parents, this is great to introduce your kids to gaming - or even to help prepare them for high-school. It's quite similar to Big Brain Academy on Wii. It has mini-games which are a lot like 90's kids mini-games; so fun and surprisingly nostalgic! The gameplay progresses with you, and challenges become more difficult the more experience you gain. I feel like the target demographic is toward primary school ages - but anyone who loves Rainbow High can enjoy it. If you're a late teen or older who can't decide whether to buy this: if you liked the gameplay style of Life is Strange, you'll like this. It also auto-saves a lot, which is extremely helpful. YES, this is worth the price to me! It's the same price as a Rainbow High doll, going to the movies/arcade, or a meal for two ($60 AUD), but it takes 13 hours to finish! It is a really cute game, I wasn't bored for even a second, and I'm so glad I bought it - it made me love Rainbow High even more! :)

This franchise is some kind of Bratz / Monster High clone, but judging from the very simple and poor writing, it must be made for a younger audience than either of those games. The story is yet again all about fashion but compared to e.g. a franchise like Monster High which has some cool characters with creative colorful outfits, the character design here is just uninspiring and dull. No one with just the slightest understanding in good fashion would look at these models thinking they dress nicely. Every character is following a single color theme, like they all suffer from monomania and when they stand together in a group they look like an RGB gradient. The animations and character models also look and feel very stiff, like they are actually made of plastic, this gets emphasised even more by the sound it makes when they run, which sounds like horses hooves. The gameplay is also just a boring and partially annoying experience. It keeps sending you in all sorts of directions, like "go find this random room", "look at that shoe", "now head back and talk to your friend", "now go make a dress animation", "now go look at that computer", it just keeps sending you around the school in a never ending loop and every time you leave a room there is a loading screen. The same also goes for the mini games, which are very easy and for the most part have nothing to do with what you were tasked to do. I also hate the way they talk, like pronouncing the names of emojis and using that in sentences. This might be a normal gen alpha thing to do, I don't know, but it sounds stupid to me. I'd like to preface this review by saying I've never watched any of RH nor did I go out of my way to buy this -- it was included in a Humble Bundle. I also primarily played this while I was at work, so give or take about an hour was me just sitting there tabbing back into my job. It was roughly 3hrs of actual gameplay. With that out of the way, as someone who absolutely loved Monster High: New Ghoul in School -- it's almost the same formula, just worse in some ways. Pros - • Great VA-ing (except for the fact I couldn't tell who were the teachers/staff sometimes from the other students) • Mini-games do change in difficulty throughout the game, even if it's the same mini-games played prior by each girl • Somewhat customization (when you unlock their outfits) • Very easy to pick up and I enjoyed looking for the codes for each locker • Gives you way more jewels/diamonds/currency than needed to unlock every outfit Cons - • Horrid camera angles - the sensitivity is genuinely rough at times with a mouse + keyboard - I especially hate the cameras locking onto certain parts like the staircase, certain tables, or even that shelf in the backstage area • Lack of window mode ability • Horrible animations for when they talk - they literally just open and close their mouth with little to no expression at times • Poppy's rhythm game is one of the worst rhythm games I've ever seen - it's hyper sensitive on where Awesome (perfect) and Nice (great) lies and often times you may miss one for literally no reason. I do notice it sometimes doesn't register if you've even gotten a nice/awesome, but it'll still count towards the flow? • Some mini-games allow you to mess up a bit (like Skyler's or Jade's) - but others are downright unforgiving if you mess it up like Sunny's. • The tutorials are extremely obnoxious and sometimes take way too long to get to the next part - it should allow players to decide if they want to skip tutorials or not! (thankfully they go away after completing it once) • Lack of VA-ing for certain characters All in all - for a kid's game, it's aight! I had fun, but I was a bit saddened by how quick the game went. Perhaps a child would spend way more time with this, but at the $40 price mark it's going for - I would not recommend it. Get it on a good sale, sure - it's cute and worth it then! It's currently going for $24 during the summer sale, but I wouldn't personally pay more than what I technically paid for it - $10 (Humble Bundle) or maybe $15-20 at most. 5/10 - could be better, and way cheaper

Wir haben das erste Kunst Projekt des Schuljahres bekommen und sollen dies nun fertigstellen. Alle sind dadurch gestresst und es kommt zu einer Meinungsverschiedenheit unter den Mädels. Können wir uns wieder vertragen und die Aufgabe meistern? [h1] Gameplay [/h1] Es spielt sich sehr simpel. Wer die Spiele von Outright Games kennt, weiß was ihn/ihr hier erwartet. Wir laufen durch die Rainbow High, sprechen mit Schülern & Lehrern um nach & nach kleinere Aufgaben zu erledigen. Dabei sind wir immer sehr stark eingeschränkt, wo wir uns genau hinbewegen können. Meist können wir nur in 1 oder 2 Räume via Aufgabe gehen. Man kann aber so gut wie jederzeit zwischen den 6 Mädels hin & her switchen und dies muss man in manchen Situationen auch machen um bestimmte Aufgaben annehmen oder Minispiele lösen zu können. Die Aufgaben sind meist von A nach B und wieder zurücklaufen und 1 Minispiel meistern. Insgesamt gibt es auch nur 6 Minispiele, jedes der Mädchen hat ihr eigenes. Man kann in der Spielwelt auch Outfit Teile einsammeln. Alle 6 Mädchen haben jeweils 3 verschiedene Outfits, diese sind bei allen aber gleich (Casual, Cheerleader & Winter). Die Deutsche Vertonung ist gut gelungen, mit den Original Sprecherinnen der Serie, sofern ich das beurteilen kann. Grafisch find ich es völlig in Ordnung für das was es ist. Lediglich der Preis ist wie immer der einzige Kritikpunkt [h1] Achievement Schwierigkeit 2/10 [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 29 Erfolge. Die meisten gibt es beim durchspielen automatisch. Dann muss man noch alle Outfit Teile finden & freikaufen, die Schnitzeljagd nach beenden der Hauptgeschichte Abschließen & 1 Minispiel jeweils auf Mittel & Schwer beenden ohne eine Münze (leben) zu verlieren. Verpassen kann man gar nichts, denn nach Abschluss der Haupt Geschichte, kann man überall hingehen um Sammelobjekte einzusammeln, die man verpasst hat [h1] Pro/Contra [/h1] + Familienfreundlich + Story ist ordentlich + Deutsche Synchro ist gut gelungen mit den Original Sprecherinnen der Serie + Grafik ist völlig ok für das was es ist + Nette Minispiele + Achievements + XBox 360 Controller Support - Der Grundpreis ist natürlich mal wieder viel zu Hoch [h1] Fazit [/h1] Ein weiteres ordentliches Spiel aus dem Hause Outright Games. Wer ein Spiel für seine Tochter sucht, ist hier wohl genau richtig. Aber als Achievement Hunter hat man hier auch seinen Spaß weil es total chillig ist. I've always respected the Rainbow High brand... I love the designs, I love the idea and I love the dolls... I would go as far to say that Rainbow High is currently the best Doll brand out there... Since I first heard about this game I've wanted to play it, and thanks to it being included in the recent Humble Bundle, I've finally been able to... To make a long review short. I absolutely loved this game, more than I really expected to, and I couldn't be happier. This game definitely won't be for everyone... But if you or your kid loves the dolls or the show, I think you or your kid will thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not great at reviews... I only really review games I really enjoy, so that shows how much I enjoyed it. It's not perfect however. To me the worst part of the game is the save function. For some reason it only saves when you go into a new room. But most of the time you can't leave the room you're in until you're instructed to for a quest, so if you want to leave the game, I would recommend finishing whatever quest you're on first. But again. I loved this game. It's a little on the short side. Not as bad as the 2 hour My Little Pony game the developers of this game made a few years ago, but it's not gonna take you as long as a Mario game would, but hey quality over quantity. I sincerely hope we get a sequel or some DLC for this game, because I loved every minute of it. 10/10

First, in no way do I believe this game is worth $40.00. It's worth it if you can get it cheaper and are a major Rainbow High fan like myself. Now onto the game itself. It's fun and easy, you explore the school and complete tasks for friends and your fashion projects. It is repetitive, but nothing terrible and I expected it to be like that. The mini games are ok, nothing special but some are fun. As someone who loves the dolls and cartoon, it was really cool to be able to walk around the school and see all the items in it. Tbh if you ever played "Monster High Ghoul Spirit" and liked it, this is a better version of that. I only wish you could have created your own character, though it was fun to play as the rainbow girls, but Amaya and Bella are missing from the main story sadly. I haven't gotten to the free play yet, so I don't know if any more characters will be included. It's just weird to me that they included Colin but not River or Aiden, considering they made dolls of them but not Colin or Emerald... I also wish there was a dress up option. You can change the girls clothes but there's only 3 set outfits, no mixing and matching, which is a missed opportunity given this is based on a FASHION doll line with a huge focus on multiple outfits and dress up. The game would have been perfect if you were able to dress up, style hair and makeup, and create fashion designs. However I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of the series.

Let me preface my review by saying that I am a full-grown adult person. And yes, I still enjoyed this game. It's clearly intended for kids - the difficulty level is very low, the dialogue and storyline is super basic. The controls were a little wonky but I was using kbm when the game does recommend a gamepad, so if you're getting this for a small human they might do better with that. Here's what I got out of it as an adult, though: *The bright colors made my brain happy. The game and the school that serves as the game's setting are called Rainbow High for a reason. It's like unicorns barfed all over the place, but in a good way. *There's a surprising amount of polish for a casual/kids game. This is a rare enough phenomenon that I appreciated that all by itself, but also there's a lot of detail that has gone into the art - a lot of quest items are things like murals and sketchbooks that you see for all of five seconds but they still filled them out with doodles, sketches, photographs, like often unique elements that weren't just copy-pasted from elsewhere in the game. And the NPCs - named and not - have dialogue that changes, their own unique costumes. Also the fact that everything runs smoothly, there are relatively few bugs, the dialogue matches the subtitles for the most part, there's autosaving and quality of life features where there need to be. It was really nice to just play something for a few hours that didn't have a high level of demand or frustration. *A little bit of wish fulfillment. Come on, who WOULDN'T want to pretend that they get to go to this fantastical boarding school where all of the classes are arts and crafts focused, all of your best friends are there, the students apparently have an extreme level of autonomy, and even the competitions are highly cooperative? So yes, I would definitely recommend this game. As usual, because it is so short (3-4 hours to 100%), I would NOT recommend it at full price, but for the level of polish and detail in it, it might actually be worth somewhere in the $10-20 range. One other note, for expectation setting purposes: I picked this up mainly because I thought it might be a dress-up game. It is not. You do collect outfit pieces but there is no free-dress mix and match style play, rather that each character has a set number of outfits you can change between which does give you a minor amount of creative freedom but not in the way I was hoping from a game with "Runway" in the title. Still fun, if you want a short adventure game with collectibles and mini games, have a little one you need to entertain for a bit, and/or feel like taking a swim in an ocean of rainbow for a tiny escape from whatever real-life dullness has plagued you.
