I had zero plans to play Lost Nova tonight, but between a dear friend expressing interest in what I’d think about it, and another trophy-hunter friend happening to be playing it when I logged into Steam, I decided to try it out. And here we are!! 6am, eight hours later, 100% achievements!! I had wayyy more fun than I even hoped to have. I got Lost Nova on sale for only $3, and I truly feel guilty for paying so little. So I’ve wishlisted the dev’s other games. :) Things I LOVE: + beautiful cel-shaded pastel art direction + endearing dialogue (so many little lolz) + quirky NPCS and relatable female protag + five distinctive biomes to explore + steady, well-designed progression + very addictive cyber gun foraging mechanic + unlimited storage for your items + more things to do after completing story + really wholesome overarching message Things to consider: • jumping mechanic takes practice to master • no quest list (though tasks don’t overwhelm) • several achievements are VERY grindy For the trophy-hunters out there, of which I am usually not one (but I loved this little world so much that I didn’t want to leave it): I relied on a guide that I found on Steam. One achievement in particular has a 1% spawn chance, and so I spent 15-20 minutes walking into and out of the spawn area over and over. >.< Another achievement requires an extraordinary amount of money. I earned it the “honest” way over the course of an hour or so, but I’ve seen that some people are simply modifying their save files to trigger the achievement. ;) So, I think that I finished most of the true game content at about the 5-6 hour mark, and took an additional 2-3 hours grinding out a few achievements while concurrently watching a movie. :) I played on a handheld (Lenovo Legion Go with SteamOS, which operates nearly identically to my Deck), and it was a flawless experience. This is a very easy recommendation from me. It’s a STEAL at $3, given the charming characters, delightful art style, and addictive foraging mechanic. I’d happily have paid double or triple that sale price for Lost Nova. For me, the ongoing little life-lesson behind one of the first achievements you will pop, “No Rush,” was more than worth the price of admission. <3

Unfortunately the constant screen movement makes the game unplayable for me. the fov follows where the gun is pointing, so any slight mouse movement moves the whole screen. If you have a vestibular condition you should avoid this game, which is a shame because I was looking forward to playing it.
It's very pretty and well made sure. But it's ultimately not very fun, boring grindy gameplay and thats pretty much it.
I know it's an RPG but... there's no meat on the bone here at all. I thought it was just a cozy aesthetic and there would be some depth to justify the proposed $15 price tag but it's a little too simple and slow. Lots of just walking around talking to npcs for nothing and walking around more. Even the upgrades and shop stuff doesn't change much of anything, just less waiting on the laser cooldown. Maybe this is for actual children and I just missed the memo. The whole thing is a little pixel-y too and not in a good way like it's an intentional choice, more like I thought I needed to adjust the game resolution but there is no resolution adjustment option.
Sinopsis

This is a crafting game with all the boring and stressful parts stripped away. There's no cumbersome inventory management. There's no annoying monsters. There's just chill music, loveable characters, and oodles of charm-- all wrapped up in the most adorable art style. I only spent 6 hours on this game-- and two of those were finishing up achievements. In such a short time, the game managed to make me fall in love with each and every NPC. I would die for any one of those quirky little idiots. The dialogue was hilarious. The story was surprisingly compelling. The controls were intuitive. Everything felt streamlined and fun. This is a game that feels like a lot of love was put into it. I only wish it was longer.
On your way to your vacation destination you crashland on an alien planet. Explore, upgrade, craft, make friends with the locals (and the not-so-locals), and solve simple puzzles to work towards fixing your ship. Lost Nova is a a cozy sci-fi indie adventure game that oozes charm and positivity.
beautiful graphics, fun, relaxing and surprisingly so wholesome!
Lost Nova was a super pleasant suprise. I went in thinking this would be a typical craft and mine colonist type game and I was totally wrong! This game is CHARMING! While yes the main mechanic is mining and farming the environments to upgrade things, helping others on quests and ultimately fixing your spaceship, The mechanics of how you do this while exploring the world are super organic and enjoyable. The game has no time limits, no pressure, no enemies. It's a purely explore, find secrets, make friends and have a blast type of game! If you like wholesome games this one is definitely for you! It was super relaxing without being overly easy at any point as well. Super rad all around. I also absolutely adored all the diverse creatures, people and alien pals we meet throughout the game! There are so many different side quests, hidden secrets and bonus challenges that gives this game a much higher play time than I expected. The game is also very whimsical and filled with witty fancies all around. The other thing that suprised me most was that while the underlying story is not very long or complex, it was well written and heartfelt. Usually in this genre the story is secondary but here I really came to love my time on that planet and was curious and engaged the whole game. Lost Nova is totally out of this world!
Chill little crafter/explorer. Not worth the full price though. Best to get discounted!
