The ULTRAKILL of shmups in my opinion.
Best Saturn Game of All Time
I don't know how to play but it's very good.
i am very bad
This game is fantastic. One of my favorite shmups / bullet hell / danmaku or however you wanna call this genre. The game is quite difficult but you can get "good" and "dodge" the bullets. There are also difficulty settings, so if you want to you can play on "very easy" mode. Unlike other shmup games, this game has different mechanics such as different weapons that shoot differently. Wow how often did I use the word "different" lol. Not to mention the soundtrack. It is an absolute banger and is definitely worth listening to! There is also a story. The story is fantastic and I like it. Won't spoil anything though. Just make sure to wait on the title screen for a few seconds and it will load the opening cutscene (which some players missed by starting the game instantly) Go buy the game! It's one of the best shoot 'em up's
The gameplay, visuals, bosses, weapons, and OH THE MUSIC are excellent. The story ranges from comedic to dead serious. I say give it a try!
Music is annoying and the level design feels lifeless. The different attacks and the super sword thing was a decent idea, but kinda sucks in practice. It's more of a puzzle shooter than a pattern shooter. I guess I can see the appeal for people, but I think most people like ii because it is unique. However, each turd I lay every morning is unique, but that doesn't make them good... They just feel good and I think that's most of the modern appeal for this game, nostalgia.
“BE ATTITUDE FOR GAINS” -what?

Shmups are usually a genre that doesn’t have a large production value behind them, but with Radiant Silvergun back in 1998 employed all the techniques that make it the hit classic that was back then.
Gameplay
Right off the bat you start with 7 weapons no need to unlock them, each with its uses that you’ll learn where to best apply their strengths as you go. As per the shmup staple, defeating enemies grants you points, defeat multiple enemies of the same color and you’ll also get a multiplier to the points obtained, these points are not just for score on a leaderboard but will also grant you extra lives as well as leveling up your various weapons. In Arcade mode this feature is extremely important as well as having a way to choose which level, or route, to play on. In story mode however points keep accumulating meaning lots of lives and firepower, but you’ll have to go through a 1h 30min tour de force playing all levels and routes in one go if you want to complete the game.
X-Factor
The weapon level-up and score systems combine in a way to keep early levels important and challenging as veterans will engage with comboing enemies to try to get their score as high as possible to have better odds in the late game. Story mode makes sure that even if you, like me, are not too shmup savvy, will be able to complete it eventually while seeing all that the game has to offer in terms of content.
Story
A mysterious stone-like object is unearthed and after being prodded start the extrinction of the human race, it’s up to a group of pilots who were orbiting earth and thus spared from the catastrophe to fight the now enemy-controlled spacecrafts to understand why this is happening… The story itself is told with an opening, ending cutscene, small between chapters scenes, and the occasional narration as you play.
Downsides
The only real complaint I have is that the upgradeable weapons system means if you fail to level them up early on you’ll lag behind in damage unable to damage in time stuff to get back on track snowballing into an impossible run, meaning early levels become tedious again as the only way to engage with them is to play in the even same-r way to go for the highest combo, as well as not knowing if you’re having a losing run until a few stages in.

A game from 1998 that still holds up isn’t something to sneeze at, and a testament to how good this must’ve been back then. I’d say wait for a 40-to-50% discount though, ultimately it’s a 1h 30min game that you’ll play for a lot more time due to it’s arcade-y nature.
