Pros: - Randomized levels for replayability - Powerups Cons: - Lacking a lot of QoL content: no separator every 5x5 tiles, no highlight where your cursor is, clues aren't greyed out after being solved - There is a chance that a clue is hidden behind the UI - Some solutions are not unique Specs Intel Core i5-9300H 2.40GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Should you play this game?
It's a nightmare trying to solve the larger levels without the QoL features.

In-Depth Review

Visuals
For a Nonogram game, the display is very small. I know that it tries to cater to larger Nonogram sizes, but the level is still too small, even on smaller Nonogram sizes. This makes a lot of space appear empty, making the clue hard to see sometimes.
The Game
Gameplay Raccoon The Miner is a Nonogram game with 63 levels. All levels have randomly generated puzzles, with the difference between the levels only lying in the puzzle size. Since the puzzles are randomly generated, there won't be a picture after you solve the puzzle. Switching between levels is quick, though, since there are barely any animations to slow it down. The game lacks basic QoL functions. The tiles are not separated every 5 tiles, the game doesn't highlight where your cursor is, and clues aren't even grayed out after you solve them. Moreover, the game counts your mistakes, and getting 3 mistakes in a level means that you must retry the puzzle again, where it'll randomly generate a new one for you to beat. All of these make it hard to solve the puzzles, especially since you need to count the tiles one by one. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3583112052 That being said, the game has some power-ups for you to abuse. It never tells what each power-up does, although you'll get 5 of them for free at first. You can buy more from the shop, but the price means that you need to grind a lot if you use many of them and need more. Length and Difficulty I finished the game in 15.7h with 3 stars (no mistakes) and no power-ups. I then spent the rest of my playtime getting the last grindy achievement. As for the difficulty, casual players might find it hard to solve the larger puzzles, although it would be too easy for veteran players. I'm impressed with the level randomization, though. The generated puzzle almost never feels impossible to solve—there are always enough clues to fill most of the board without guessing, although I found the game forcing me to guess between two options to solve it sometimes. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3082364316 Issues There is a chance that a clue is hidden behind the UI on larger puzzles, making it hard to solve the level if you are not careful.
Conclusion
The randomization in Racoon The Miner means that you can play the game endlessly, but it also comes with a lack of QoL functions. This makes it hard to solve the levels at a larger size, and since there is a chance that the game will generate levels that require guessing, I'm afraid that I couldn't recommend this game.

Plays basically like a picross game, except the boards are randomly generated so there's no actual picture. For each successful click, you can earn coins to buy tools to help with difficult areas. While I enjoy it, it doesn't use 5-tile marks to help with counting nor are the boards divided into grids of 5x5, so you have to manually count out or risk making a mistake. Also I couldn't figure out how to increase the visual appearance of the board, so it tended to be very small, and not using the whole screen, making counting the tiny tiles even more tedious.
it's average and it could have bigger font,... it's really small and make the game hard to play. 5/10
A poorly designed picross clone. Don't buy if red/green colourblind as it's hard to tell the squares apart.
Nothing revolutionary, still very enjoyable :)
This is a Picross, also known as the Griddlers type of game. Even though I'm a sucker for any games that brings me the minesweeper vibe, I simply cannot recommend this game, as it is unfinished and is lacking lots of basic features. On top of that, I couldn't even say if this 'school project' type of a game would be even a little bit more successful as a mobile game as there are just too many little things that throw you off. Publisher is greedy and lazy if they are selling this incomplete project of theirs. Do NOT buy this.
Raccoon the Miner is a "nonogram" type mathematical deduction game, not too different in concept from Minesweeper or Sudoku. You are given clues, in this case the number of "mines" in unbroken lines, and you must deduce from all the clues on the grid which tiles are mines and which are not. This has all the look and feel of a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam, possibly because the mobile app stores have quality control where Valve doesn't. It's even got what looks like a stub for doing microtransactions with "Gold". That's really not okay on PC. Because this is basically a mobile app dumped in the wrong place, I can't recommend it. If you want to play Sudoku or whatever, you can play it free in a browser... there's no reason for this to be competing with serious PC games on Steam.
I recommend this, eventho there are several things that easily could be improved. I give it a 3/5. Its basically a pixel filling game with a dif skin. Its basic and functions with only minor occasional bugs. Its ok if i need something to clear my head with and i usually have it in the background. The sad thing is that it could so easily be improved but to me it feels like dev just punched the daily work card on this one, and then left it as is.
A randomly-generated Picross game with 63 grids. I would recommended this for puzzle fans, especially now that it's free. Though I do have a few complaints. The grids are too small and difficult to see, especially on the larger ones. There is so much wasted space, I suspect it may be a port from a mobile game. Occasionally you will get a puzzle that has two ways to solve the last part. This gives you a 50% chance of messing up, even though you are correct. The settings for Resolution and Full-screen do not save when you restart the game. So, you have to input the changes each time you launch the game.
