About

Step into the shoes of a psychologist at a small firm, specializing in treating various phobias. Managing your clients is hard enough. Vera Mills won't look at herself in the mirror. Jaden Thompson's social life suffers because of his fear of heights. And Ashley Taylor is obsessed with the thought that she's psychotic like her mother.
But the real ordeal starts when your clients come under attack. You are gradually alienated from your colleagues as the police find only one link: you. Who is attacking your clients one by one, in gruesomely ironic ways? Eventually, it's up to you to solve the chilling mystery and unmask the serial killer.

PSYCHOLOG melds the storytelling of visual novels with the interactive elements of first-person point-and-click games. Engage in thought-provoking dialogue, make critical choices, and get to know your clients and their fears by using your empathy, finesse, and manipulation skills. Keep the trust of friends and colleagues.
Your choice of words during therapy sessions influences the narrative, leading to one of several distinct endings.

The story unfolds in an oppressive urban setting where the sky is rarely visible, and a backrooms aesthetic permeates the bleak interiors.
The relentless onslaught of the game's stylized visuals amplifies the pressure and stress as those you're meant to help succumb to their worst nightmares.

Fantastic game. The weird graphics give the perfect vibe for a psychological horror, and I love the idea of choosing dialogues with therapy clients. I thought this was going to be a longer game where you slowly helped (or hindered) your clients' recovery, but the game only spans two weeks of sessions and takes a different direction as more of a thriller. The real direction of the game becomes clear early on, so I was still able to accept that and enjoy it. I will say that some of the "correct" dialogue choices during therapy sessions seem... odd. Like, I'm not sure if real therapists are trained to make fun of their clients. But apparently some of these game clients like that. Whatever, it's all fun. In theory, the game has decent replay value because you have so many dialogue choices and a huge impact on clients' outcomes, but it isn't really set up well for several replays. There are various scenes where you go into a client's head and play out their fears, etc., which is great on the first playthrough, but these sections are tedious in subsequent playthroughs. There's no auto-skip feature, so you just have to click repeatedly to "skip" text you don't want to wade through again, but if you're not careful about where your cursor is, you might accidentally select a dialogue option you didn't want to when a choice pops up. The other problem is that, while you have meters to see your trust and treatment progress with clients, you DON'T get that feedback with your colleagues or other characters, and getting their trust is fundamental to one client's storyline. I would guess that you have to choose all dialogue options exactly correctly to win their trust, and it's too frustrating to go through the game several times blindly choosing answers with zero feedback, so I gave up. That said, it's a great game, and I did go through four runs. Dev: great job with the game, love it. I would just recommend designing and developing in such a way that replays are as comfortable as possible, because that will encourage people to engage with the game more. If you have replay-unfriendly features like the ones I mentioned above, you'll bleed players who otherwise would have played more.
Loved this little creepy game! :) Dialogues are nice. For less than 2€ totally worth it, and also: quite replayable.
This game is awesome! As a senior undergraduate in psychology who aims to become a clinical psychologist, this game really hooked me in at first glance. It isn't often I see games that are based around clinical psychology, especially ones that include actually accurate representations of disorders along with the complexities of different approaches to treatment. Not only is the story/art amazing, but the horror was executed PERFECTLY, and the atmosphere at certain times genuinely had me feeling anxious! Amazing game, I highly recommend it for anyone with an interest in psychology! 11/10, great work!
This reminds me of those old Flash point and click horror games from the early 2000's. My first play through was a little disappointing, as I anticipated the game would be a slower burn where your choices would affect your patients and whether they would succumb to their phobias or not. Technically this is true, but you only get about 2 brief sessions with each client to build them up or break them down before doing 1 exposure therapy session. And instead of your treatments determining the fates of the patients, it's some guy and the happenstance choices you make that could thwart him. After I got over mourning the promising premise of this being more focused on the care of your patients, I was able to enjoy the story for what it ends up being. There was a difficulty system added, but it doesn't feel like it actually makes the game easier or harder as most of the story beats have very specific choices you need to make to make happen. And with how trial and error the game is, it's really annoying you can't make your own save states to cycle through options, and even more annoying the quality of life feature most Visual Novels have to skip to the next choice is missing. Basically, if you care to travel all paths this game has to offer, you're going to be spending a lot of time replaying the same sequences over and over. Once someone makes a 100% guide, this game will probably be better by proxy, so you can play naturally once, and the play perfectly the 2nd time. (and maybe play disastrously the 3rd time.) I think my first run took about 2-3 hours, and at time of recording I've spent 4-5 more cycling through an additional 6 times, making progress and figuring things out, but there's one patient I haven't cracked and at this point I'm wondering if it's a glitch. The game has bugged out on me a few times, but luckily the dev is quick to respond to their email to patch them up. Definitely worth trying out if you enjoy a good point and click thriller.
Such a fun game with interesting game play and concept! Was lots of fun and def. worth checking out!
"It doesn't make sense. I just don't get it..." A good quote summing up my experience. I hate how this game turned up on me, and I have no idea how it could've happened. I genuinely think this is a well-made game. I really like the game's artistic design, atmosphere, and some of the gameplay mechanics, and while the game isn't a horror game in the truest sense, the horror-ish aspects it offers are done quite well. And I would like this game for what it could've been, but not for what it is.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Playing this felt like Everybody Hates Chris, where I'm Chris, and "Everybody" is the whole game itself. I really tried to be as "in character" as much as I could, but at some point, I just completely ceased to care, since the game tried to alienate its narrative from me as much as possible. The character you play as is one of the main reasons the game feels like it plays itself, they have a mind of their own. While there are many choices in the game, the ones that actually change your character's approach are only present in the counseling sessions. Nearly everything else in the story is out of your hand, and your character does as they please and often doesn't reflect the approach or attitude I had towards the matter, which really broke the immersion. I got the impression that the narrative's outcome is heavily based on your choices. As of now, I haven't tried all the possibilities, and the game genuinely looks like its choices might actually be very impactful to the story, and I'd be very disappointed if proven otherwise. However, right from the very beginning, the game throws a lot of questions onto you, with the expectation of you having prior knowledge to them with no context given whatsoever, and you forming opinions, acting upon them, and answering "correctly". That being said, the choices I made didn't reflect in the narrative at all. On the contrary, what actually happened was the complete opposite of what I wanted to happen, or should I say had to happen, since no other option could've possibly changed those fates. I feel like there's some question early in the game that changes the whole course of the narrative, with, as aforementioned, you having no clue how to answer it correctly. On that note, I'd like to discuss the actual story.
SPOILER PART
I HATED how the story turned out, at least in my case.
From a very interesting concept for a game, with some genuinely interesting mechanics true to that concept, to a trash murder story that ♥♥♥♥♥ on all of it and takes on a direction of its own. Simply said, I had a lot of fun playing as a psycholog wanabe, trying to treat the patients and make progress, just for a murderer to come, starting killing them, trashing the work I've built up, and leaving me desperate, knowingly being just a spectator, watching an outcome set in stone progressing.
The story became bland and boring, and the plot illogical.
Because how could the killer know everything, even very confidential information mind you, and always get away with it.
It just felt like a very bad and generic
detective/thriller story.
And the retarded remarks and actions, or rather inactions, from the detectives didn't help it either.
AFTERWORD
Maybe my expectations were surpassing what the game was all about. And them being met only from the beginning to roughly the half of the game may have clouded my mind and made me misinterpret the game's point. As I've said, I would rather the game be about that than what it tried to be. I have yet to discover other paths this game has to offer, but as an average person playing the game with no drastic choices made and still leading towards this weird path, which I feel is really easy to do, I really feel like the first playthrough of this game is too offputting, and towards the end I didn't enjoy it even slightly.
Nimavoha Interactive最好的一部,塑造优秀的心理恐怖氛围、类似七宗罪的剧情、高选择取向,大师级~
A great short game. The story is suspenseful, and the patients are fleshed out well enough for me to care for them. Great atmosphere and art style too to each phobia/trauma the game tackles. I wish the game is longer to fully flesh out the psychologist segments. Overall I recommend getting this game.
This game is an easy recommendation. I've left comments on this review open in case you want to know something specific. Psycholog has a strong ambiance, interesting cases, and intriguing characters. The game isn't outright easy to 'solve', but the dialogue and solutions are fairly rational. The conflicts at play also don't lean on tropes. Most importantly, the choices you need to make are generally interesting and varied without being obvious. I usually go very in-depth with my reviews, but it's not necessary here. If you read the store page and think this game is something you'd enjoy, you're probably right! Definitely worth full price, particularly if you're the kind of person to play a game more than once. NOTE: This game does not have a skip feature. Unlike most games in this genre, I don't think it NEEDS one, though it would have been nice. Replaying didn't feel like a slog for me, though I did have to spam click through a few familiar scenes.
