Really nice pixel art point n click game with a Matrix vibe. Play as a cyborg cop in 2054 former Tokyo who is being used and abused by big tech but finds a way to break free and hit back The dystopian setting and refreshingly pragmatic main character made this game interesting for me. It plays smoothly and the puzzles are all logical.
This is a very solid game. A warm comeback to the era of point'n'click adventures. You control a female cyborg in a cyberpunk world and have to unveil the conspiracy
that got her arrested
. Usually you have quite a few tasks at hand, but thankfully there's always a to-do list to keep you in the loop even after breaks. I particularly enjoyed the system of collectables. I missed a few, but I liked the little endorsements in every one of those. To the fans of the genre and those who like a good short indie game, this is definitely worth playing. Now, to the negative reviewers... This game is made by a solo developer. She had the guts, the expertise, the inspiration and the will power to create an entire game single-handedly. And then she gets judged by the same standards big corpos do? This is exactly why we can't have nice things. Please understand that a review is a very powerful tool. You shouldn't give a thumbs down just because a game "could be better". Yeah, there are some bugs and inconsistencies here and there, yes, the game does feel rushed in the second half, but... Sometimes you should vote for the potential. Just a few too strict thumb downs can make a difference between a promising start with possible sequels improving on every aspect of the original, and the game dev career cut short. I do hope this is still the former case, and we'll get to see more of Agnes' work. Thank you for pulling this off, Agnes. Looking forward to your next game.
Of the few cyberpunk themed games that I've played, I ended up liking this one best. The atmosphere is a bit more interesting and unique than some others. The setting is a futuristic version of Japan, with traditional and advanced elements combined in an interesting way. The main character is edgy as you'd expect, but not outright obnoxious. The puzzles are pretty standard for a point and click game but that's not really why you play this type of game after all. The dialogues are not too long and the game doesn't overstay its welcome, taking only a few hours to finish. There is just enough character development but not so much that you want to skip it. It feels like a chapter in a series, and I would enjoy seeing more games set in this world with these characters. Also there's a character who seems to have vitiligo which is a condition I've not seen included in a game character before. The first part of the game takes place in a run-down, humid city. The second part is in a cold, desolate abandoned town. Its a nice contrast, and not overdone. The 'choice' in the middle of the game only changes a few dialogues. The ending sequence is in a different kind of environment which I won't spoil. There are three endings with a short sequence each, and its easy to save near the end to see all three. There are hidden objects to find, about one per screen, as well as a few places in the game where you can clean up graffiti to collect an achievement. I could complain about things that I haven't liked in other cyberpunk games that I've played or watched videos of, but it's all down to personal taste with a genre that is so steeped in atmosphere. I just happened to really like this one and found it had the right tone and world-building for my tastes. YMMV of course.
Pros - Cool art-style - Cool cyberpunk world, good world building, lots of lore and very imersive. - Interesting locations and characters. Lots of points of interaction. - Mostly playable with just the mouse. - Interesting mechanic with the EYEphone. - Story was okay, it kept me interested. Arguably the ending felt a bit rushed. - Auto-save (which can be turned of if that's your preference.) Manual saves are also supported regardless with a generous number of slots. - Mostly solid point and click puzzle design and the character occasionally gives some useful prompts. There was a few odd choices for item combinations etc but overall I felt the game ticked along quite well without getting majorly stuck. - There does seem to be some choice built into the game but I'm not to sure if it has any real effect. Cons - Frame-limited and screen tearing. No proper v-sync implementation. - Weird hot-spot reveal implementation that uses keys F1-F4 to separately show different kinds of hot-spots e.g. items you can pick up or characters you can speak to. Not sure why it was done this way. Something like a hold left click to show all hot-spots at once would have been preferable. Also the hot-spot remains for items that have been removed from the scene. - Quite short. - Some hot-spots are just the tool tip with the item description i.e. they have no dialog or function what so ever. Felt a bit strange to me. - No voice acting. Overall its a decent cyberpunk point and click. Interestingly the opening sequence of the game is identical to another cyberpunk point and click "Born Punk" not sure who took inspiration from who or was it just coincidence.
Meh, it’s okay. Biggest pro is the setting and art style. The longest chapter in the game is set in a very cool, snowy, dilapidated urban landscape. Wish we would have seen more of that. Problem is that the longest chapter in the game is also pretty useless in terms of storytelling. The whole plot gets resolved basically entirely during a massive lore-dump carried through a poorly written conversation at the end of the game. Puzzles are mostly fine, not sure what people are referring to when they complain about moon logic. Just put the damn scrambler on the stupid little table, and everything else is a breeze :)
