excellent
Very fun and easy-to-play dungeon crawler! I love the QOL improvements from older games (much less punishing and quicker to get back to having fun!). The customization of your team is awesome, I love it when you can do that in these games. Highly recommended.
I love pretty much everything about this game I don't even have a real review honestly just play it
Potato Flowers in Full Bloom is a classic-style dungeon-crawling RPG developed by Pon Pon Games and published by PLAYISM that successfully captures the spirit of old-school adventures while presenting them with a polished modern design. Instead of relying on flashy visuals or cinematic storytelling, the game focuses on rewarding exploration, strategic battles, and meaningful progression. Set in a world where a desperate search for legendary seeds leads explorers into ancient underground ruins, the game builds an intriguing premise that gradually unfolds through environmental details, conversations, and discoveries made during each expedition. Its understated narrative invites players to piece together the world's forgotten history at their own pace, making curiosity one of the strongest motivations to keep pushing deeper into the labyrinth. The dungeon design is one of the game's greatest strengths. Every floor is carefully handcrafted, encouraging players to observe their surroundings rather than simply rushing toward the next objective. Secret passages, hidden treasures, environmental puzzles, locked routes, and useful shortcuts reward careful exploration, while the grid-based movement evokes the feel of traditional first-person dungeon crawlers. Resource management plays a major role as well, with torches and supplies becoming essential tools for surviving lengthy expeditions. Since each dungeon has its own layout and unique challenges, exploration remains engaging throughout the adventure without becoming repetitive. Combat is entirely turn-based and places a strong emphasis on planning rather than brute force. Encounters demand thoughtful use of skills, equipment, positioning, and party synergy instead of repetitive grinding. Even ordinary enemies can become dangerous when approached carelessly, making every battle feel significant. The game encourages players to study enemy behaviors, exploit weaknesses, and balance offense with defense, resulting in a satisfying tactical experience that consistently rewards smart decision-making. Victory often comes from preparation and strategy instead of simply having higher character levels. Character customization adds another layer of depth through a flexible class system that allows players to build a party suited to their preferred playstyle. Different races and professions each bring distinct strengths, from durable front-line fighters to supportive healers, agile rogues, skilled archers, and powerful spellcasters. As characters gain experience, new abilities expand tactical options while allowing players to specialize their team members for increasingly difficult encounters. Because party composition has a noticeable impact on gameplay, experimenting with different combinations becomes an enjoyable part of the overall experience. Visually, the game embraces a colorful low-polygon art style that feels nostalgic without appearing outdated. The simple presentation complements the game's focus on gameplay while giving every dungeon, monster, and town its own distinct personality. The soundtrack reinforces the atmosphere with calming exploration themes that shift naturally into more dramatic battle music, creating a relaxing yet adventurous tone throughout the journey. Rather than overwhelming players with visual effects, the presentation emphasizes clarity and charm, making exploration comfortable even during long play sessions. One of the most impressive aspects of Potato Flowers in Full Bloom is its pacing. Exploration, combat, character growth, and storytelling are carefully balanced so that each element supports the others. Every newly unlocked shortcut, upgraded weapon, or discovered secret contributes to a genuine sense of accomplishment. The game also avoids excessive tutorials, allowing players to learn naturally through observation and experimentation. This respect for player intelligence makes progress feel rewarding and helps maintain a strong sense of immersion from beginning to end. The game is not without a few drawbacks. Its methodical pace and traditional mechanics may feel slow for players accustomed to fast-paced action RPGs or cinematic adventures. Likewise, the minimalist storytelling and retro-inspired structure demand patience, particularly during the early hours when exploration takes priority over dramatic plot developments. However, these qualities are intentional design choices that faithfully serve the classic dungeon-crawling experience rather than genuine flaws. Overall, Potato Flowers in Full Bloom delivers an excellent blend of exploration, tactical combat, character progression, and atmospheric world-building. Pon Pon Games has crafted a thoughtful RPG that respects the traditions of the genre while incorporating enough modern refinements to remain approachable for newer players. PLAYISM has published a title that stands out through intelligent level design, satisfying strategic gameplay, and a memorable sense of discovery. For fans of classic first-person dungeon crawlers and carefully designed role-playing adventures, this is an experience that consistently rewards patience, planning, and curiosity. Rating: 9/10
