Will Polaris be a live service title?
No, Polaris will offer a complete experience at launch. That said, if big AAA studios don't get everything right day one, our little team certainly won't, so we'll no doubt be making bug fixes and balancing changes after release, and we'll take that responsibility seriously. If people dig what we've made and would like more, we'll definitely consider it, so long as we won't bankrupt ourselves in the process. But I don't want to sell people something which is incomplete, half-finished, or where we're pitching as-yet-unrealised potential. We just want to make a cool game, and we hope it looks cool to you, too!
What operating systems will Polaris be compatible with?
At launch we'll support Windows PC only, with the possibility of Steam Deck support at a later point.
Will this be an Early Access title?
No, Polaris will launch in full when released.
What's the inspiration behind making Polaris?
It's Jonathan the creative director writing this (hi there!). I can't speak for everyone on the team, so I'll answer just for me... I've kind of always wanted to work on a game like this. I grew up loving the games of Bullfrog and Psygnosis, in particular Syndicate, Wipeout, G-Police, and Colony Wars. So experiences involving "teams of high tech soldiers, using high tech vehicles, causing chaos in an original science fiction world" have always been embedded deep in my frontal lobe. Over the years I've fallen in love with games like Halo, Earth Defence Force, Red Faction, Just Cause, Crimson Skies, and Ace Combat. Polaris is a melting pot of all these inspirations (and more!) combined with the raw talent and creativity of the awesome team I get to work with everyday. Also they turned off the Warhawk servers so this is the only way I get to fulfil that particular gameplay fantasy.

Received this product for Free from NAGWizard on Twitch.tv We played 5 rounds with 4 members in our party. Initial thoughts were that the game was fairly easy, but as we continued to play, we were pleasantly greeted with additional difficulty that picked up at a really comfortable pace. Practically everything is destructable, there's a lot of fun mechanics here, and I think this is a great base. As a gamer, I want to see more from this game: Ability to customize a character (skins, outfits, colors, ect) would be cool and maybe a starting loadout of "starting" weapons that I have unlocked. Requisitioning higher level items is a good mechanic. I would really like to see more mission types, and more maps. The ability to select random mission types/maps would also be great. Hopefully the devs also add achievements in the future as well! The only problems I had were a few small camera issues, and one time where I started flying completely sideways with the gravity boots, but nothing game breaking. The biggest complaint would honestly be after the initial jump, my player falls directly downwards, not in a dive and is not controllable. I feel pretty comfortable calling this a 7.5/10 right now, easily moving to a 9/10 if some of the above suggestions are added.
From the playtest, I enjoy what the devs have done and carving out a fun, arcade-like extraction shooter. Definitely tough alone but not impossible, giving you the roguelike grind. With friends, its a blast!
The idea is there, there could be something here, but the game feels very unfinished. I've encountered several bugs very quickly into the game, like the guns not working anymore after revival, the game doesn't quit when you tried to exit from the main menu, etc. I cannot recommend it in this state.
Absolutely recommend this game, mostly if you have some friends to play it with but, personally I've enjoyed flying around in solo quite a bit. It needs work, sure, but the game is also pretty darn fun as is, and the price-point is reasonably easy to convince friends to try or simply force them to try by buying it for them. If you only play one round on the lowest difficulty you aren't going to get the full experience, and I fully believe this game is worth supporting now and sticking around to see how it improves in the future.
Nice little extraction game - i think best with friends or least co-op to help the grind.. Flying about it a fun mechanic. Shooting feels decent.. Destruction in game was cool, be nice to have the physicals to match as things can float.. Worth a pop
Che dire un gioco altamente acerbo, bella idea ma è una pre alpha non è un vero videogioco, i server sono sempre vuoti un vero peccato perché l'idea ci sarebbe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wz03FJx4cGg
Really love the art style and gameplay. Can't wait to see what the developers have in store!
Not gonna lie, I had high hopes for this one since the playtest was a lot of fun but I'm sadly pretty disappointed in this. The playtest was great, ran buttery smooth, and featured essentially the same content as here. A few maps, two different mission types, and you just shoot down ships and kill the big gunship. This right here feels incredibly meagre considering that it's a 1.0 release that costs ten bucks. I know that what the devs are aiming for is ambitious. It seems like they're trying to go for something like Earth Defense Force or Helldivers 2 but with superhumans that fly around and stuff... I don't get why we have to buy the boots every mission if we need them to fly anyway and if it is expected of us to fly around. I don't get why the game runs worse than the Playtest (even on recommended specs with the graphics turned down all the way) when there's about the same amount of content in here than in the playtest. I don't know why the game doesn't scale down the health pools of the enemies when you're alone in the lobby. There are so many things that go wrong. One mission has you chase after a worm that is not defending itself, like at all, and it feels like bullying. The other mission is probably amazing if you're a masochist that loves going to point A to destroy a shield generator to then fly to point B to deal damage to the gunship only to realise that you spent half the time you had to deal damage flying back, then the shield comes back and you need to fly to the other end of the map to take care of a shield generator and you rinse and repeat that. It drags on the fight for so long and all the ships that spawn in that pester you become annoyances rather than challenges. That specific mission reminded me of Devil May Cry 2 - a game that should be skipped if you plan on playing through the DMC franchise btw - because that game was prone to bullet spongy enemies and bosses where you literally hold down the shoot button for 20 minutes until the enemy is dead. There are also stratagems (like in Helldivers 2) that you can unlock and use but they barely do anything, never hit their target (because it's moving) and it's just awkward to use them on a top-down map when you could also just throw a signal flare or something like in EDF 4.1 And like, you might notice my short playtime. That was practically spent playing through two missions before the game crashed because of memory issues. I genuinely feel like this could be a good game if the devs spent more time actually adding fun things to the game rather than expecting players to grind out the same two mission types (sorry, three... soon) over and over again... so that you can then unlock new weapons that you can't even try out beforehand. No stats, no strategy, just plain stupid shooting... at that point, you could also just play all sorts of other games and have much more fun with them.
cool game please add server/match browser instead of the matchmaking thing.
Quem me conhece, sabe que é raro eu não recomendar um jogo.. Mas nesse caso, fica difícil recomendar por 2 motivos: 1- NÃO É EARLY ACCESS!! É a versão final!!!
