Nerfing something i bought with actual money is not that fun in a PVE game just saying
Good game, constantly made worse by terrible antagonistic developers. Only recommended with friends and at a discount.
The core gameplay loop is incredibly fun and genuinely unique in the video game industry.
BUT...
The company behind it, Arrowhead Game Studios, seems to hate people actually playing their game—which is ironic, considering this is a MULTIPLAYER LIVE-SERVICE GAME. Their relationship with the playerbase constantly reminds me of a quote from Far Cry 3's Vaas Montenegro: "Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing... over and over again, expecting ♥♥♥♥ to change... Game very good. In-game sense of community very good. Community outside of game? Awful. Game's best enjoyed with minimal participation in external forums outside of comms for coordination purposes.
Helldivers is a really great game, Though there is a catch. This game has some of the wonkiest crashes of any game I've ever played. I don't struggle with it as much anymore but when you crash in this game it really takes you out of the game. The gameplay loop can get extremely repetitive, and after around 80 there reallly isn't anything to do but grind out warbonds, and truthfully, medal grinding can get really old really quickly. That being said, this game is updated very consistently for better or worse. When you first play this game, you will probably play it for a week straight and then go, damn, whats left.
This game used to be fun and genuinely addictive, even without a friend group. However, the so called caring developers are coping and seething at their playerbase for enjoying the game not the way they intended to and "rebalancing", while acting innocent and good willing when they inevitably receive backlash for the gorillionth time. Who knows, maybe in 6-7 years the game will finally be worth playing again.
Enjoyed this game for a long time but seems the developers are conducting a social experiment on how many bad decisions it takes to ruin your love for democracy
What even is this game anymore bro? The devs release a patch with notes of how they buffed players. Then data miners have to sift through game files to find the changes that the devs didn't mention? The ones that make the enemies even stronger, almost entirely negating the player buffs. This is normal now? Nah man, this game is cheeks and I actually do believe that the developers don't want people playing their game anymore. I don't know why, but it has to be. There are so many games out there that are actually worth your time. It's time to give it up man.
I absolutely love this game. I am aware of the recent critical reviews, but I can only really speak on my own experience, which has been excellent. It is such a breath of fresh air compared to so many other games that are currently out there. Things I really like are: 1. The gameplay itself is amazing and really exciting. 2. The frequent updates and community events are also very fun and engaging. 3. The game has a great sense of humour. 4. It is SUPER fun to play with friends. 5. The progression feels great, it feels like there's almost always something to work toward. 6. There are sooooo many ways to build your loadout. 7. The game allows for you to earn the premium currency, and there's even ways to farm for it. 8. The price of the game is reasonable. Highly recommend the game, particularly if you like Sci-fi and have read the Red Rising book series.
I've been enjoying Helldivers 2 a lot =) I was late to the party and only started playing this game a couple of months ago with my son and his friends. We're in Australia, and my son's friends are in Sweden, but since it's co-op, there is no latency issue, which is nice! Initially, I got annihilated, and my bullets seemed to do no damage until I learned the weak spots and when to use the right weapons and stratagems for the job. The humor, especially in today's political climate, is hilarious. The environments are beautiful. The enemy factions and units are varied and interesting. The feeling of power you get as you mow down hordes of enemies is very satisfying! I've come to understand that there's a lot of controversy and unhappiness in the player community, and looking at the most recent patch, I believe many of those concerns are being addressed. I never felt that level of frustration, but I am happy that reloading is now improved so you don't get your reload sequence interrupted in the heat of battle =)
