About
In the vast wilderness of South Africa's Northern Province, a battle is raging between the ruthless poachers who seek to exploit the region's natural resources, and the dedicated game rangers who are determined to protect the animals and preserve the beauty of the land. "Poached: Hunt The Hunter" puts you in the shoes of a game ranger, tasked with defending the nature reserve from the poachers who seek to destroy it.
Here you must fight to survive. It’s man versus beast versus man versus man. And if you’re no stranger to danger, come play as a ranger fighting off armies of ruthless poachers with nothing but your wits, harsh language, braai tongs and an arsenal of weapons that would make any arms dealer green with envy. You wake up in your camp, make breakfast, get your orders and shoot poachers on sight using high powered automatic weapons. Simple. Or you skip breakfast, that’s up to you. Or you chase chickens around for half an hour, grow hallucinogenic plants in the shed, spend the day barbequing goat chops to perfection, race ostriches or rescue lost rangers stuck in trees, I’m not going to tell you how to live your life. You play it your way. This is the POACHED experience.

The game has currently been in development for approximately 3 Years, and will be releasing into Early Access for a dollar-store price.
The Early Access process will last another 3 years to ensure maximum compatibility with all systems and best possible experience.
The price will remain low and fair as agreed by the community at all times of the development phase and full transparency is always ensured. The games development is fully self funded and I encourage players to rather not buy the game until it's out of early access unless they want to be involved in the development process and instead download the free demo while waiting for the finished game! The demo itself will be regularly updated as the main game branch is updated for free forever.
The game already currently has a great community behind it with over 100+ Private Beta testers that have helped steer development since the projects inception in 2020. Please feel free to join in on the discussions on our Steam Forums and make sure to play the Free Demo now!!!

Reviews
This game is a really fun old style shooter. Its really weird that its only €3 as it would be good as a €7-10 game and with more polish and fixes it would definitely be worth €20. A few things that could benefit this game is: An improved stealth option (potentially using far cry 3 detection meter and stealth takedowns) Better cover as it feels like theres no where to stay safe if theres too much enemies And have the weapon wheel bind to q instead of clicking the mouse wheel
Havana dry, but is a liquid. Manually refunding those sports t-shirts must be inconvenient.
me bored, me play game me happy. YEAAAAAA Suid Afrika

I think the idea is great, I would love to see more development in the gunplay. Wish the best for this game, it is an amazing concept. Keep it up!
I like the game with all its funny interactions. Would like to see more things maybe making it possible to modify the guns later. Also to make it so there is rough dirt roads to drive the bakkie on would be great
the gunplay just isnt it. the game is fine, but bad gunplay just kills games for me. If I had to explain why, I would struggle to find words to describe my exact gripes without bringing in other games that have not given me this same gunplay experience, the movement feels off? its clunky, floaty, aiming feels fidgety and enemies are annoying to face off against, the distance between my LOS and my gun is awkward, the screen's color changes when im getting shot are EXTREMELY irritating. the dense foilage obscures enemies but does not seem to obscure you from them seeing You, the movement and animation involving ADS, Reload, weapon switching feels sluggish and frustrating.
If you live in South Africa, then this is a good and funny Early Access game. If you live anywhere else in the world, then this is just simply a bad game. --- Overall I'm very excited to see how this game improves and changes over the course of Early Access and I'll definitely try to play the game again in the future. For now, I wouldn't recommend it. But I will keep my eye on it. --- Two real issues: 1. The game completely crashes my whole computer after completing mission 1. This has happened twice already and thus I haven't played past mission 1 yet. 2. The game doesn't have fullscreen windowed mode. I really need this in all the games I play so that I'm easily able to play while doing other things on the computer. --- Gameplay wise. Something feels off. I can't exactly say what, but something feels weird and off. I think it's a combination of a few things such as shooting, walking, running, etc. But I think this is okay since it is Early Access at this point.
A Hidden Gem... Poached: Hunt The Hunter is a charming and accessible hunting simulation that caters to a broad audience. Its fun visuals, ethical considerations, and well-designed game play make it a standout title in the genre. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or a casual gamer, Poached invites you on a delightful adventure into the wild, promising hours of enjoyable game play and a newfound appreciation for the art of the hunt of poachers. Nothing beats the South African experience. Its certainly a one of a kind!
very well put together game and outstanding responses in forums
The game is a true hidden gem. I was honestly shocked at how fun this game was.. it is a well made game, that feels like one of those memorable games you got as a kid but made for today.. the dev is super nice and deserves all the eyes he can get on this hilarious fun game about shooting poachers.... the only downside is im unable to taxidermy said poachers, my trophy room is just sitting there empty. Video below shows the comedy and gameplay of Poached : Hunt The Hunter while keeping some aspects spoiler free... https://youtu.be/ugI54eUYGVA
