About
In the vast wilderness of South Africa's Northern Province, a battle is raging between the ruthless poachers who seek to exploit the region's natural resources, and the dedicated game rangers who are determined to protect the animals and preserve the beauty of the land. "Poached: Hunt The Hunter" puts you in the shoes of a game ranger, tasked with defending the nature reserve from the poachers who seek to destroy it.
Here you must fight to survive. It’s man versus beast versus man versus man. And if you’re no stranger to danger, come play as a ranger fighting off armies of ruthless poachers with nothing but your wits, harsh language, braai tongs and an arsenal of weapons that would make any arms dealer green with envy. You wake up in your camp, make breakfast, get your orders and shoot poachers on sight using high powered automatic weapons. Simple. Or you skip breakfast, that’s up to you. Or you chase chickens around for half an hour, grow hallucinogenic plants in the shed, spend the day barbequing goat chops to perfection, race ostriches or rescue lost rangers stuck in trees, I’m not going to tell you how to live your life. You play it your way. This is the POACHED experience.

The game has currently been in development for approximately 3 Years, and will be releasing into Early Access for a dollar-store price.
The Early Access process will last another 3 years to ensure maximum compatibility with all systems and best possible experience.
The price will remain low and fair as agreed by the community at all times of the development phase and full transparency is always ensured. The games development is fully self funded and I encourage players to rather not buy the game until it's out of early access unless they want to be involved in the development process and instead download the free demo while waiting for the finished game! The demo itself will be regularly updated as the main game branch is updated for free forever.
The game already currently has a great community behind it with over 100+ Private Beta testers that have helped steer development since the projects inception in 2020. Please feel free to join in on the discussions on our Steam Forums and make sure to play the Free Demo now!!!

Reviews
Big titles should learn from this. I know it is a small game that can be finished in an evening but it has a great story and best of all no bugs. It started first time and did not crash once.
So my review might seem biased because I'm from South Africa..and as far as I'm aware the game is made by a South African. Despite that, my review is purely from a gamers stance. To begin, this game is really fun and reminds me a ton of FarCry 2..my favourite out of the farcry franchise. This game definitely has an interesting story I won't he spoiling here..it really caught me by surprise and not at all what I expected but that is by no means a bad thing. You have the option of selecting between 4 operators I think? Each with their own stats..BUT the dev is planning on adding a custom character creation, not sure if that includes creating and changing your own stats but the fact he's planning on this makes it so much better. From what I gathered the idea surrounding the custom character creation will implement a similar system to Ground Branch where you can make your own kit which is something I always love. On that note tho, the dev is very active in developing and actually listens to feedback and interacts with his community and is very open for more ideas and feedback. Pretty nice guy as well and actually talks to you and gives his ideas as well which is always a plus for new games..as other devs say they "listen" to their community but in reality, they don't..at all. Gameplay: Pretty fun and not at all difficult to learn, you point and shoot, that doesn't mean you can take hits like a spartan from the halo series as you're a normal squishy human..so playing tactically is a real option in this and how I prefer to play my games...slow and not rushing around like you're playing DOOM. He also has ideas on improving AI a lot more and others to make the gameplay loop a bit more difficult and tactical. If you finished your main quest for the day, you still have some side activities you can do and side missions so you don't have to end the day just to get a new main mission. Also exploring is encouraged, genuinely a really beautiful environment for a game that can be easily run on most hardware..proving you don't have to use the most advanced textures and meshes to have a beautiful game..but this has nothing to do with the gameplay and just something I wanted to drop in here as I enjoy the fact that I don't need a NASA computer to play the game. The gameplay all in all is pretty fun, not too difficult but also not too easy per say. You unlock more guns as you progress and I'm pretty sure you get some if you explore the map. You can trade stocks (which I didn't do as I don't understand it at all), you can do Ostrich races, you can "braai" (barbeque) which is very pleasing to my Afrikaans roots. The game genuinely has great potential, and even if not globally recognised, I know it would be recognised locally and enjoyed by the people of South Africa. Even if I have a really positive review, this doesn't mean the game is flawless by any means and as far as I'm aware it's actively developed by one guy. It has bugs but haven't encountered something game breaking, and even if you do encounter such a bug the dev will quickly release a hotfix for the bug or provide a save file if he can't fix it at that moment. Some of the gun sounds aren't great, but is also a thing that will be worked on later as he's busy with the core and most important part of the game I'm really excited for the future of this game and where it goes, I really do enjoy it and is something I'd proudly showcase in my library..as a South African and a gamer. If you do decide to get it, make sure to join the discord and share your thoughts and opinions, what you think can be improved or anything else..even if it's just to chat! Not the best review ever, but one I really took time to make as I really enjoyed this game and think it has a ton of potential!

You are the Ultimate Anti-Poacher Ranger and your mission is to hunt poachers and end the cycle. Go forth and hunt the hunters!
This game is wild , the poachers are even more persistent than the current SA government and the Rhino on the first level was more aggressive than the EFF in parliament on a good day debating against the DA. All I can say is Bliksem this game is P03S lekker.
Fun early-access indie game that is well-supported by a one-man dev team that constantly updates the game with improvements.
Full disclosure: I have been friends with the developer of this game for a while.... I know a person shouldn't peel their potatoes twice, but this guy will peel that potato a second time and it'll just make sense. This is an oke who, if you ask for ostrich racing, you're going to get ostrich racing. The kind of man who doesn't just talk about a trancerator: this is a man who will build a trancerator. This game is decent too: It's the most fun I've had for less than the price of a bus ticket.
This game is a really fun old style shooter. Its really weird that its only €3 as it would be good as a €7-10 game and with more polish and fixes it would definitely be worth €20. A few things that could benefit this game is: An improved stealth option (potentially using far cry 3 detection meter and stealth takedowns) Better cover as it feels like theres no where to stay safe if theres too much enemies And have the weapon wheel bind to q instead of clicking the mouse wheel
My reaction to the campaign of this game was "What the **** was that?", but I want to mean it as a compliment. I can't tell how much of it is meant to be farce or if there is anything in it that was serious. I am just very confused and enjoying the shooting bits.
me bored, me play game me happy. YEAAAAAA Suid Afrika
