I came in with no expectations, played for a while and thought "Hmm this is really fun" Then I got to a back sign and rolled 6 ones in a row and lost all my lives. Now I wanna tear off my own face... 10/10 recommend.
Platboarder is an absolute gem of a puzzle platformer that brings together the best elements of snakes and ladders, chess, and Mario in a truly innovative and captivating way. I've had a blast playing this game, and I can confidently say it's a refreshing addition to the genre that offers a unique and enjoyable experience. First and foremost, the combination of snakes and ladders, chess, and Mario mechanics creates a gameplay dynamic that is both challenging and addictive. It's a brilliant fusion that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The incorporation of chess-like elements adds a strategic layer, making each move feel like a calculated decision rather than just mindless platforming. The level design is nothing short of fantastic. Each stage presents a new set of puzzles and obstacles that require careful planning and precise execution. The progression is well-paced, ensuring that the difficulty gradually ramps up as you improve your skills. It's immensely satisfying to see your strategies pay off and overcome the intricate challenges that lie ahead. Visually, Platboarder is a treat for the eyes. The vibrant and colorful environments, coupled with charming character designs, create a lively and inviting world. The attention to detail is commendable, and the animations are smooth and fluid, making the gameplay experience all the more immersive. I also have to mention the delightful soundtrack, which perfectly complements the gameplay. The upbeat tunes and catchy melodies add an extra layer of enjoyment, keeping your spirits high even during the most challenging levels. Furthermore, the controls are tight and responsive, ensuring that your movements are accurate and precise. This level of control is crucial for a game that demands both quick reflexes and strategic decision-making, and Platboarder nails it. Lastly, the developer's dedication to community engagement and frequent updates deserves applause. It's evident that they genuinely care about their player base and are committed to providing a polished and enjoyable experience. In conclusion, Platboarder is an absolute must-play for puzzle platformer enthusiasts looking for a fresh and engaging experience. With its innovative fusion of snakes and ladders, chess, and Mario mechanics, captivating level design, delightful visuals and sound, and responsive controls, it's a game that will keep you hooked for hours on end. Don't miss out on this hidden gem—it's a true testament to the creativity and talent within the indie game development community!

Cute Game.
A friend of friend developed this game, so I was lucky enough to get to try it for free. :) It's a pleasant and lighthearted game which is perfect for when you want something easy going but relatively challenging. The music, visuals, and sounds are kawaii af. It sure brings out my inner stat nerd. XD The cuteness combined with levels and scores are sure to give you a dopamine spike lol Hopefully a leader board is added. I could see a whole lore developing around this. I don't know even know how many levels there are yet!? It's like life... roll the die, you just might..
Fun, cute, and simple platform/board game. Decent and challenging game play with surprising depth for such a seemingly straightforward game.
OMG!!! This game is too much fun. The graphics look kind of simple, but don't let that fool you, there is a lot of depth and strategy here. Just started playing it and it's a great time waster, plus the sound effects are so funny. Totally worth it.
Really cool and unique concept for a platformer! The graphics also really fit the game well. Absolutely loved playing this even though it can be frustrating to beat at times! Would absolutely recommend to anyone who likes platboarders!
To be fair, I was given a key for this game by someone who worked on it. Also, as of the time I'm writing this review, I played the game for 14 minutes on a Steam Deck. Over all... this game is quite charming and, while this game is not my normal video game fair, I found myself enjoying the game for the little time I spent with it, and would most likely start it up again if I was looking for something light to play when I had a little time to kill. As I said, I played this on a Steam Deck and, for the (admittedly) short time I spent with it, it was comfortable enough to play with the touch pads, and, as far as I could tell, ran very well. I think this game would give any player a fun time, with fun graphics, enjoyable audio and sound effects, and a decent level of challenge if one if willing to dig a little deeper into the details. I think the biggest issue with the game is the lack of tutorial. Don't get me wrong, there is a "how to play" section that gives a solid explanation of the core mechanics, but, I feel, a more naturally integrated tutorial during gameplay would have helped settle me into the game better. Another little gripe I kinda had was the level timer. Each level only gives you 30 seconds to complete. In general, this didn't feel like too much of an issue as I was able to get to the end of a level easily enough, however, I also felt I wasn't given enough time to experiment with the mechanics much. Always pressured to keep moving... (again, note, I played this on my Steam Deck, which was not a device the developers had in mind when creating this game, and my choice to play this game on the Deck may have caused my reaction times to be slower)... I was rarely willing to experiment with much more than anything that would keep me going forward. I think the first few levels, at least, should not be timed, then start adding the timer in later levels.
Cute bit of fun for a slow day!
This game is frustratingly fun! You can learn how to play it by just trying things out, which I like. It does seem like the odds of rolling a 1 when you're next to a hole are DRAMATICALLY INCREASED lol. Overall very cute and fun!
