got it from a bundle. it tries to be like darkest dungeon and basically it would be a very nice game but it is so artificially stretched.. in the very beginning you encounter so many enemies, they are pretty easy but each battle takes so long that it slows the game too much down
Disclamer: i backed this game on kickstarter, and it might be coolouring my opinion. okey sooooo.... The art in this game is very cool and it was one of the first things that drew it to me, that and im a fan of a few of the people involed in its creation, mainly Jim Sterling who narrates the game, and on a side note i think he does a desent job, but it took a few narrated seens for me to disconect his voice from his other work, but then i think he did a good job but yeah the Art is good, however the gameplay is more of a problem, the first 3-5 hours are a repetative grind where you have to rely on luck to get a party which will allow you use any level of tactical play... i have hope for the tactical potentiol later on, but to get there is going to be pure tedium and im not sure i can stomach it aspicially becouse 90% of what you do in this game is combat, and when the first 3-5 hours of combat isnt fun, mixed with the fact that the sound assets for this game sucks, it is the same sounds over, and over, and over.... the game might be great further on...but right now i dont feel like giving it that extra time...maybe in a few months
Plague Road is a fine game about a docter rescuing plague survivors. It has classical turn-based RPG elements, nice soundtrack and great visuals. It is a fun game at times but the battles are too frequent and ruin the whole experience. If it will be balanced out, I think I would definitely recommend it. Right now I can only recommend Plague Road if it has a 75% discount.
Fun game, but hard to play in long runs on a big screen I imagen this game would be awesome on an old console and a giant wooden tv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmUc-UDdayg
While the art style is very cool, that's about its one strong point. The gameplay gets pretty boring and grindy fast, but I found it to be a fair enough game to play in the background while doing something else. It's a pretty difficult games, especially towards the end, and there is very little guidance as to how to play the game, so there's a lot you have to figure out for yourself. If you are defeated, you permanently lose all members of your party, so there's pretty harsh penalties for failing. All in all, it was definetely not worth the money, especially at $20, and I would not recommend it. Tips if you want to actually beat it: keep one character of each type in your party, and retire all extra survivors into their respective buildings so you get double xp. In my final party, I had two characters with field damage abilities (I recommend runaway train on an engineer as it does the most total damage, followed by the soldier's field damage ability), two with the ability to freeze, a nurse (angelic protection is the best skill to have if you can get it), and a witch with overgrowth. Use freezing and overgrowth against characters that are melee only to keep them at bay and freeze a few enemies at the end of each fight to regen health with your nurse and stamina (just freeze them and stop attacking with your characters you need stamina on for your next fight). That's about all there is to it, godspeed.
I love this game! It's old school in the sense that it is challenging and rewarding - you need to earn your way through the game. The graphics are amazing!! The vivid colors and animations look like comic book candy! ISometimes it's a little confusing to maneuver during battle. Also, the scrolling dialog boxes could be a bit faster and the controls on a laptop are not optimal- but I'm nitpicking. Plague Road is a really nice game and those things can be remedied in future updates.
There is a lot of promise here. The art style is really cool (even if a little convoluted). But the combat, sadly, ends up being awful. I would reset the game if I entered a combat that I couln't freeze all plague beasts from the start, because those little things they summon attack me about FIVE TIMES EACH right after they're summoned. I HOPE it is a bug. And when I got to the stages I couldn't reach through train, I gave up. I really tried. But my time is worth a lot more than watch for 20 minutes my party be slaughtered by tiny minions every time I try to face more than one plague beast. Sorry dudes.
I am a kickstarter backer like some here. I was not disapointed because it was what I was expecting. Pretty much all rougelikes are about grinding and dying. I do agree the combat system is simplistic but I still enjoyed. It may not be everyones cup of tea so wait for a sale if you are on the fence on this one.
It's super simple and broken, has all kinds of flaws, but it sure does look pretty, it has Jim Sterling as the narrator, and it's enjoyable enough if what I just mentioned doesn't bother you. Also, the thing basically has no story other than a bit of Jimmy's narration whenever you reach a new area. tl;dr: it's a very basic, kind of sh*tty srpg. Go play Eiyuu Senki instead, or any of the other much better srpgs on steam and elsewhere. This is a clear case of style over substance. It looks and sounds pretty, but it plays like a pile of burning refuse. It has a nice aesthetic, but it plays like a sh*tty phone game. Don't waste your money on this.
Play as a Plague Doctor and find ingredients to make medicine and save people. A tactical/strategy RPG with a really cool art style. Power up your doctor and save lives! https://youtu.be/aIXCex6TTQ8
