Nom Nom Galaxy is a game that seems more complex than it actually is. It presents you with a range of structures to build and defend bases, many recipes to discover, and a vast map to explore... but none of that really matters. Enemies show up and don't do much, there isn't much to see on each map and you rarely need to change up your recipes. Every level can be completed by staying close to where you started. If you're generous and let yourself get carried away by the mechanics and exploration, you might end up spending a few dozen hours on it... but there's no real reason to. Don't make the same mistake I did.

PixelJunk™ Nom Nom Galaxy is one of those wonderfully weird games that immediately stands out from everything else. At first glance, the idea of exploring alien planets and turning their wildlife into soup for an intergalactic corporation sounds ridiculous, and honestly, that's part of the charm. It embraces its strange premise wholeheartedly and creates a surprisingly deep and enjoyable experience around it. What impressed me most is just how much content the game offers. Each planet presents different challenges, environments, and resources, constantly introducing new things to discover and adapt to. Unlocking new equipment, expanding your capabilities, and figuring out the most efficient way to automate soup production gives the game an addictive "just one more mission" quality. There are always more upgrades to chase and new ways to improve your operations. The art style deserves special mention as well. PixelJunk Nom Nom Galaxy has a unique look that gives it a lot of personality. The colorful environments, charming animations, and quirky creatures create a world that feels both inviting and distinctly its own. Even after many hours, the game retains a certain charm that makes it enjoyable simply to spend time in. Co-op is another major highlight. Playing with friends adds a whole new layer of chaos and fun, and working together to defend your base, gather ingredients, and optimize production is incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately, the online multiplayer can be a bit buggy at times. Connection issues, desyncs and occasional hiccups do occur, which can be frustrating. Thankfully, when everything works properly, the co-op experience is fantastic and easily one of the game's biggest strengths. Base defense mechanics are another interesting aspect. Enemy attacks ensure that you can't simply ignore your surroundings, and they add some tension to the experience. While defending your operations can occasionally become a bit annoying, I never found it overwhelming or game-breaking. Instead, it provides just enough pressure to keep you engaged without constantly interrupting the more enjoyable exploration and production systems.

This game is amazing and I love it so much. I played for a long time on PlayStation and now PC. I wish there was a sequel.
