It's a lot of fun to play! Though the menus are extremely basic and a bit ugly, the game is very enjoyable and the different power-ups / abilities to choose from, a system similar to Clustertruck, make for an interesting experience on different levels. It runs very fluent and I didn't encounter any lag spikes and, as expected with a game of such simplicity, no bugs either (at least I didn't find any). There is way more to do than in Asteroids and it's more rogue-like than that experience but keeps the basic premise. I would say that if you are looking for a bit of a modernized Asteroids experience, which I suspect most people here are, then this should be more than sufficient. I would recommend it, though a little more work on the main menu could attract a lot more customers but that's not my biz so whatever.

Core concept better realized in "Last Encounter" link in full review. Unfortunately topdown shooters without proper Xbox360 pad are not all that enjoyable. The space exploration theme has local coop, better audiovisuals and roguelike progression in the Last Encounter. Pixel Star just looks so limited in comparison.
