Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/YsPACyYWHYQ This is budget-priced horror survival game. If you keep your expectations in line with the price, then you may enjoy this game. It is quite janky & definitely needs more polish & a better tutorial. If you're expecting something like RE4VR then you'll be gravely disappointed. However, this game is one of the better horror survival experiences priced at $5 USD or less. It's not what I would call good, but it's good enough for the price. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the tension present throughout the game. There are also several things that I didn't enjoy. I thought the combat was very basic. Melee was not satisfying. The guns were not satisfying. It doesn't feel like you're even hitting your target most of the time. The game is also rather dark, even if you are lucky enough to find the flashlight. The inventory system is terrible. Sound mix could be much better (needs much better spatial audio as well). Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, on high graphical settings, I was getting variable frame rates from 90 to 45 frames per second, but the game was playable and I could have lowered graphics. You do have full locomotion, along with smooth or snap turning. There is button crouch as well. You can technically play seated or standing, but when playing seated it felt like my holster was almost on the ground. I didn't get far in the game. I died trying to get through some flames. The checkpoint system sent me way back & I was not happy about that. I was also not happy with the lack of clear direction. I honestly had no idea what I needed to do to progress.
Unironically a fun, full featured survival horror game. It's very janky but in a way that's more charming than annoying.
Experienced on a Meta Quest 2 using airlink. Fragment of Humanity is a FPS horror sci-fi action adventure game. We play as test subject 26, an experiment kept in a laboratory. One day all hell breaks lose when another experimental creature gets free and spreads throughout the lab. We are now trapped with the creatures in the lab and need to escape. We will be using melee and range combat to fight back, and have to solve problems / puzzles to move onward throughout the laboratory. The lab is forever changing as the creatures continue to grow and spread throughout the lab. The creatures remind me of the movie Alien and Symbiote, the way its a living organism that grows all over the lab itself, spawning more creatures from it. The world is dark and screams horror sci-fi vibes. From the 80s horror music to the creatures spreading throughout the lab like a virus, growing on the surface and transforming the lab into something new. The rooms and halls will be covered in a living organism. Its moving and spawning other creatures, and changing the lab as you know it. The world was very immersive and set that horror sci-fi vibe really well, not just in the look of it, but the sounds as well. Gameplay is well done, but has some issues. Controls of the character are nicely done, and it is easy to move through the lab and engage in combat. How ever, things like doors and the health injections can be tricky to use at times and will slow you down. Also it is easy to drop an item that rolls out of our reach and is lost, but we can still clearly see it but can not reach it. The gravity grip system would fix this problem. Another issue was placing an item down on a structure and have it fall through the model and be lost forever. This makes it scary to rest an item down, while you use another item. Overall, the game is a nice sci-fi horror title, with puzzles to solve and creatures to combat, in a dark creepy environment. The more you explore the lab, the more you get a feel of what was going on in it. This was not a lab practicing in normal tests, but playing with humans and crossing them with other creatures, to make new creatures. The world will have you slowly creeping around the hallways, waiting for something to come out of the walls or darkness after you. The game still needs some polish to it, to fix some bugs and better the gameplay, but still a joy to play if you are into horror sci-fi action adventures. It sci-fi and horror is your genre, this is a title worth picking up. Watch my preview here, https://youtu.be/2C95Mkk9Tag
