Very charming stage based game. I wish it was a little long. Quite fun!
Fun one-and-done ~2h of entertainment. It's a complete experience, not a half-effort indie hustle. The review hate for the price tag is deserved. During a moderate sale this game will be priced comparably to watching the latest star wars slop in the theater, net you about the same amount of entertainment-hours, and will most likely be a better experience. However, that's comparing apples and oranges. The price tag is far too much of an ask for what you are getting.
this game is crazy because it posits the following question, never before asked by humankind: "what if sonic spinball was good"
Definitely worth a look, very fun mashup!
i have mixed thoughts on this but overall positive. it implements pinball pretty well, but calling it a metroidvania to any degree is a stretch. it's extremely linear with only a few side rooms and most of the things can be obtained on a first run through a room, and there's no real sense of exploration. you're mostly just going up through self-contained puzzle rooms, but it's fine because the rooms themselves are well put together and pretty creative sometimes. the physics are alright. they work for implementing the concept of a pinball action-adventure, but i don't feel they're well-implemented enough to play it through again for the "don't use the time slow power" achievement. the ball is much lighter than a real pinball and that's felt both through the way it can't ski between flippers and the way shots require a ton of precision that the momentum of a real pinball would have carried through.
final boss was underwhelming since there were no real stakes.
i'd like to see a sequel. i think a lot of things could be handled better with finer physics tuning and while it feels like a complete game i do find myself wanting more to explore with it. well worth playing especially since it's nice and compact.
Calling this a -vania game is really stretching the definitions of what you'd find in the genre. You "do" get abilities and you "do" get more traversal, but there's not really much exploration at play here; the game is largely linear, with some of the areas requiring you to take a detour, before returning to the main table to remover the blocker that prevented you from progressing. Game is fine by most marks and measures and otherwise does what it looks like it ought to do. I wish there was secret areas or other things tied to harder shots/sequences. I think I'd end on the side of not recommending this game though. Nothing is particularly offensive, but I found the whole experience was meh.
Bought this game on a whim. Wasn’t really sure what to expect. This is an actual decent pinball adventure. Great ideas and pleasant atmosphere. One major gripe is that with any pinball game if you fall down the levels, it is a pain to get back up so make sure you are aware of that and try to mitigate that outcome as much as possible. Otherwise, this is a recommend.
