>obsidian strikes aging instance crash on first boot up >one of the best CRPG i have play >main story has soo much depth and twist and soo well written. >i started playing right when trun based combat update came so i really dont know whats the default combat feels like >side quest and companion quest are great as well >obsidian cooked but they forgot to cook outer worlds such a SHAME >anyways great CRPG
Loved it 10 years ago. Loving it now with the addition of turn-based mode.
One of the greatest CRPGs and IMO RPGs of all time. Incredible worldbuilding, character writing, music, and gameplay. Combat is enjoyable and you have a lot of options for different settings and game modes to customize the game to your liking. Tons of content to discover -- I've come back to this game for probably 3 or 4 playthroughs. Same with Deadfire, which I would say builds on this to be even better.
Surprised to find I never reviewed this game. Played this on release for a while before I ditched it. Only played it as long as I did because nothing else was out. The stat system in the game is just bad(too much reinventing the wheel) and the RTwP combat system wasn't good in this game....in fact boring...and there was a lot of it. Trudged through it far too long before trash fight after uninspiring trash fight just got on my nerves. Tried it again years later and barely made it a few hours before the combat again had me tap out. Now with turn-based mode, I thought this could perhaps be a salvageable game. Nope! Turn-based combat is even worse than RTwP in this game, and wasn't sure that was possible. First, engagement distance. No 5ft step here....not even 5 inches. You can't even rotate around the mob you are engaged in without taking a hit. Once you engage in melee, you're just stuck there. Dumb. Should be able to at least move if you are still right next to the mob. Next, spell casting. Not all spells are instant. So you "cast" a spell and several initiative places later it casts. Yeah, that's fun when all the mobs have now moved twice so you cast at an empty space. So you're forced to wait wait wait until there is a gaggle of melee all bunched and engaged before you can cast. Not sure I've ever seen that in a game before, and don't want to see it again. Finally, the dual monitor bug. When you alt tab to another screen, then go back to the game, the cursor is no longer locked to the game screen. So when you try to mouse to the edge to move the game screen off the cursor goes to your 2nd monitor. I have to F5/F8 just to fix it. Annoying. Eh, there's more but you get the point. This game just never was for me. It's one of the few RPGs I've never finished in more than 4 decades of gaming.
Начинал играть 3 раза, каждый раз дальше предыдщего, но итог один - ДУШНООООООООООО. P.S. непозволительно долгие загрузки в переходах между зонами, как для игры с графикой 2005-го года
top better with turn based
Started playing this game 9 years after purchasing it, worth the wait!
I really wanted to like this game, but it's deeply frustrating. The XP system is geared around quest completion, with very little xp coming from combat. This on its own is not a problem. The devs were trying to promote non-combat options, such as stealth and deplomacy, Fine. But the game features a bunch of combat encounters that simply cannot be avoided, forcing combat. So if you TRY to take the stealth or deplomecy routes, you will have a harder time in these unavoidable combats. So you're better taking the combat based routes, but you only get xp for the first few mobs of a given type, and then nothing after that. This means you're stuck grinding through trash mobs, but getting baically nothing for it and risking the lives of your party members. It just ends up feeling bad and frustrating.
