Im having fun, thats what matters, will expand later when i have more hours. 11/12/2025: Ok the surprise patch was really nice. and yes I do recommend using the mod Terror from the void. As for the game maybe you don´t connect as much you do with the characters as in X-com, the strategic depth overall is prety nice. For the price I´ve more than enough. Since the patch dropped I guess I´ll start again.

I 'm big fan of squad type of games. Honestly, I can't say I enjoyed it even with mods. I didn't like the tactical mechanics, I found them slow and uninteresting. I would prefer to keep playing xcom 2 or even jagged alliance than this. I didn't like the skill trees either... pity.
If you like X-COM or similar games, this is a game for you. It's like X-COM advanced. The combat is more nuanced; more hinges on your character growth than equipment, and there's a lot of options for character building (especially with the various weapon proficiency skills available...sniper with a cannon!). I love the ballistics model they use in combat, and the free aim option. It can get a bit grindy in the mid- to late-game, but that's true of most tactical combat games like this. And the diplomacy system is somewhat simplistic, but not as bad as many similar games. My biggest issue is with not being able to either influence or change the random abilities soldiers get; especially in the mid to late game finding that perfect soldier to finish out your squad can be a chore. And the way it raises difficulty is somewhat counter-intuitive. But there are numerous mods that can adjust and modify this (including the huge Terror from the Void mod), and those also offer a lot of replayability options.
complex, good

A nice X-com type game
It's like the best X-Com Game so far
Yeah, it´s a kind of XCOM spin-off, but a rather good one for a change with some interesting own ideas (aiming,...). Give it a try when on sale.
