I really wanted to like this game. I'm a huge fan of XCOM and the like, and this game ticks all the boxes - on paper. But I just couldn't get into it. The tactical gameplay is fun, but the lack of clear progression for soldiers, the mess of the strategic overlay, the plodding central story - none of it motivated me to keep going. And this is playing with the overhaul mod that the game developers themselves recommend!
Reviewing after most recent patch from Dec 2025) This is a title that supposed to be remedy to the bland BS that's Xcom currently. It has everything fans of tactics and strategy could or should want. In practice apart from some very interesting mechanics the game suffers from 1) pacing of strategic gameplay 2) watering down of tactics and approaches due to endless enemies being spawned in. That last one could be fine in very specific scenarios in practice 90% of your tactical games will be with endless enemies. This diminishes value of any positioning, of any tactics past spamming granades and makes a handful of classis essentially meaningless (heavy specially) 3) AI incapable of dealing with game mechanics? Flame granade spam is king because CPU doesn't understand it. DO NOT PLAY WITHOUT MODS.

fun and challenging tactical and strategical gameplay, i like it a lot much recommended
Pretty good xcom like game. Strongly recommend. Personally I really like the 'aim' feature. It negates the frustration of the point blank miss that you have in xcom or xenonauts
Well, it’s not a bad game, but I didn’t finish it, so it gets a thumbs down from me. The interface is clunky and unintuitive, and the missions feel very repetitive, with many locations looking the same or very similar. The classes feel unbalanced, there isn’t much variety in weapons or upgrades, and some missions are quite tedious. Some factions have heavily armored enemies that are hard to deal with, while others have high stealth stats and can shoot you out of nowhere. The targeting system is different from XCOM, but it has its own issues. There’s still randomness, just in a different form, and it’s often unclear what your actual line of sight is. That said, the game can still be pretty addictive. You can pull off some interesting tactical moves, and there is some variety in how you upgrade your troops. However, the repetition really holds it back. If you don’t mind that and are looking for something similar to XCOM, it might be worth trying.
залипательно.
Positive: + Works on Linux/Steam Deck + The aim system is much better than the % chance system of all similar games in this genre Negative: - Art Style, its too fantastical in my opinon. The color palette chosen for most of the graphics is a poor choice in my opinon. - "Story/Setting" is confusing and makes zero sense Neutral: * The level design was neither great nor terrible. Conclusion: I will not be recommending this game because it has not met my expectations. I value story/plot and consistent world building highly in games that I play. This game does not feature this. Considering that the mechanics so far aside from the aiming system which is brilliant are rather bland, mixed together with the cartoonish artstyle and weird color palette I found myself getting bored by this game after about 2 hours of playing it.
DEI infested
Was really excited when it got announced and released. After buying, I felt I might be not good enough oder I miss a mechanic. But when you played this game 150 hrs and you still have no chance to feel somewhat confident - yeah man.. it sucks - the game sucks.
too much micromanagement
