About
Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered pharaoh.

Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.
Ensure your city is prosperous enough to deal with economic or political crises, or even plundering by enemies. A pharaoh takes care of its people and does whatever it can to earn the favour of the gods.

Pharaoh™: A New Era celebrates 20 years since the release of the famous franchise with a complete remake, including more than 50 playable missions and over 100 hours of gameplay.
The "Campaign" mode teaches you the game basics while allowing you to experience a unique story in the heart of Ancient Egypt. Explore all aspects of life in a thriving city, build and manage all its fundamental elements to ensure it flourishes: the economy, internal and external trade, culture, health, agriculture, education, etc.

The journey back in time is really brought to life with this new version, which upgrades the gameplay mechanics to modern standards and completely redesigns the captivating soundtrack and gorgeous isometric 2D graphics.
Many indicators have also been added or improved: keep better track of the frequency or quality of the Nile's floods with the Nilometer, or don't lose sight of your population's mood with some unique new tools!

Loved this game growing up! Love getting to play a remastered version of a game I still love. Challenges your mind, helps you learn random stuff, and gotta love a city builder
I really want to like this game. I love the art style and the rich historical aspect of building ancient egypt up from small villas to a mega metropolis with large statues, temples, tombs and more. On the surface, this looks like your typical city builder sim, not too much different from Sim City or Cities Skylines - but once you start to pull back the layers, it's much more different - you have to more or less micro-manage the happiness of your citizens by making sure they have enough amenities near by or they all start getting pissy - this wouldnt be so difficult if the pathing of people supporting these amenities were more predictable. There is an optimal way to play to assure that everyone services a specific city block, but it makes the gameplay feel like it's more about min-maxing and less about building an aesthetically pleasing city, as the "optimal" layout can be quite wonkey in design and appearance. I just want to plan my city, lay out my districts and have my people thrive as my city grows - but this game says that if you dont adhere to a specific cookie-cutter formula, your people will be pissy and growth will stagnate.
As someone who has played Pharaoh since it came out, this is an absolutely fantastic remaster. It has some much needed quality of life improvements like being able to toggle the Walking Recruiter method of employment and updated/streamlined UI. The updated music is gorgeous - it's the same melodies and feels of the original but with new instrumental recordings. You can really tell the developers have the love and appreciation of the original game.
A wonderful update for fans of the original. Nicely updated music recordings (same tunes as the original). Love the new opening cinematic and main menu background. Gameplay is everything I loved about the original with many nice quality of life updates (in game speed controls! No more options menu based game speed adjustment) and a lot of customization options so you can play the way you want (global or walker based recruitment pool, predators on or off, levels of zoom, autosave frequency and many others). Works great for me with few, if any bugs, If you loved the original, defiantly give the update a try.
Amazing remake
played before i like it
Awesome remake! My only real gripe is the new combat system... It feels really half baked and takes away from how true to the original the rest of the game is. Hopefully someone mods in the old combat at some point.
I like the challenge of building a dynasty, and I like the ability to create my own scenario. Very engaging and fun game. I had a few glitches in the beginning that seemed to work out with updates.
I have been playing this game for many years and still it brings me joy. I love everything about history and specially Egyptology. If you love history, you definitely will love this game.
