I loved the Pippa Funnell games growing up and now I am getting back to playing them again. Highly recommend for horse lovers, fun story and gameplay. Wish the rest were on steam. 10/10 love this game
good game. horse game. horse game, good game.
This game held up surprisingly well. Especially on the Ranch and in town the environments are actually really original and nice to look at. The horses look their age lol, but caring for them in the actual stable instead of a minigame screen and taking them for lunging (in again, pretty environments!) is something that is rarely seen in horse games. If you get used to the controls, the riding is interesting enough because it gives you a bit of a challenge. What makes me really recommend this though that it has a story that is pretty involved and lets you solve a mystery. It even has different endings! The characters are also voiced and more original than most other games in this genre. Would be happy to see more of these old games on Steam!
Bought this game for nostalgia’s sake and managed to get it to work on Steam Deck. With some tweaking of the controls and getting used to, it’s more than playable. That being said, it’s pretty boring. Progressing a horse’s skill takes a lot of training and the rounds are rather repetitive. Dressage is especially bad for this — it’s too little engagement and each round lasts way too long, and there’s barely any variety. There’s no user guide (wiki understandably isn’t complete), if you missed an explanation, you’re out of luck. I seem to remember training foals is the only way to age them up and have yet to have any progress with that. Over a decade ago when I first played this game, I had the same problem. Trial and error aren’t great options just out of the sheer number of mind-numbingly boring mini-games you have to go through to test what activity influences which stat. The controls and camera are rather clunky even for its time. That being said, the game is super charming. The series always had great characters and pretty deep stories. Part of what made the series so great is talking to the characters in your free time and getting to know them better, though in this particular game this aspect has kind of suffered. The town the story takes place in is beautiful, even though it’s pretty hard to navigate (atrocious camera angles!). All the little details are great, and don’t get me started on the cozy apartments — shame you can only stay in one during one walkthrough. Hard to decide if I could even recommend this game. I don’t think the story and the environments are worth the exercise in frustration that the gameplay is, but if you’re not a completionist, it’s could be a fun game! I’d come back to it every now and then to do those tedious training rounds (and quit when I see how many times I have to repeat them to progress). Like the characters, the story is another strong side of the game. It’s not exactly a great detective mystery, but I remember it being pretty engaging when I first played. All in all, it’s a very nostalgic horse game for me, and I’m glad you can still make it work on newer systems.
Le jeu de mon adolescence! Histoire assez complète et changeante selon vos choix, vous gérez vos animaux seuls. Suffisant pour les enfants!

I'm so impressed with this game. The fact that a game from 2007 is now my all time favourite horse game says a lot. The graphics are.. of its time, but still strangely beautiful. Especially the surroundings. The mini games are all fun, the riding mechanics are actually a little challenging. A big part of the game is bonding with and caring for your horse, and that's also kinda hard and grindy, which makes it more rewarding to do. The story surprised me with how in depth it is, I assumed this would be a game that's only about horses, but the story is more than that. There's choices that matter, characters you care about, mysteries that were genuinely a little creepy. It's not a long story mode, and it's not groundbreaking, but it was a pleasant surprise when what I really came for was the horses, to end up caring about the story too. I recommend you scale the game to your screen so it doesn't stretch everything, that made it look weird for me when I first launched it. Also, time is a valuable resource in game so it's not a particularly cozy or casual game.
All my homies hate oliver, ♥♥♥♥ that guy
Great game. I wish there were also other Petz Horsez games available. Notably Pippa Funnell: Ranch Rescue and Imagine: Champion Rider, Alexandra Ledermann games. My horse and Me series... ! I cannot type in names. If I type a letter (or number), the letter will automatically duplicate itself until there is no room of other letters. The game had a lot of other issues, but it was very cheap so I cannot be that harsh.
