Man, I am writing this mid crash out because I keep forgetting how much I hate this game. I completed the story within about 10 hours and couldn't wait to finish it because it was so boring and has absolutely no depth. Once I finished the story, I put it down for about 2 years and then remembered that I had unfinished achievements so I thought I'd give it another go. Big mistake. The map is empty and so confusing. There are locked trails and loops and dead ends. There is also no way point, just a useless blip on the screen telling you which direction it is but not how to get there. So you need to open the map every time you reach a junction to check which way it is. But, like I said, there's dead ends and loops so you may just not be able to get there and double back three times before going the whole way around the map to get somewhere. If you even slightly miscalculate a jump over water, or onto a ledge you will be forced to respawn and repeat until you get it right. Why does everything need a building? Why can I not just change my tack without having a large or medium stable? I still haven't even figured out how to change my own clothes. I assume I need a large house. Every time you enter or exit some shade you get absolutely flash banged for no reason. Now for the positives of which there are very few. The style is unique, not necessarily my cup of tea but it's not bad graphics as such (though there are some random goats that just don't fit the style at all?? Someone ought to be fired for that blunder). I appreciate the atmospheric features like the visible breeze and how cozy it feels generally. Overall, I've seen a lot of people that DO enjoy this game but you have to be prepared for all of those negatives which I just can't get past. Do not recommend, there are way better horse games out there.
TLDR: Tentatively recommended. Only worth buying when heavily discounted - This game is not being worked on. I've had HTEVR on my Wishlist for a while now and took full advantage of the heavy discount applied to it. In total, the game and all of its DLC's cost ~£11 and I am glad I didn't pay the full price of £34. I have played the entire main storyline within approx. 14 hours, and come to find the game is no longer being updated or worked on. There are noticeable bugs, such as the wrong horse being displayed in the profile for your active horse, the player icon not being configured correctly to the map which makes wayfinding very difficult and the cut scenes displaying an entirely different horse than the one you actually have. That being said, I have so far enjoyed the game. It seems to have a decent amount of replayability with the taming, breeding, training and competition features along with the resource gathering and building aspects of not only your own ranch, but others around the map. While this offers things to do, I do wonder what will happen when I finish these areas - I assume it will be another horse game in my library gathering dust.
Horse Tales; Emerald Valley Ranch isn't that bad. It's pretty good. Too many people are looking too much into some of these games, and this is one of them. Even though it's not hyper-realistic, it has a good storyline; it ventures on the path of "You inherited this ranch," but instead of being a lost family member, it's more like your aunt straight-up abandoned this ranch; you have to clean it up. Still, it turns out she's one of those people who couldn't care less about a lot of things, and just wants to have fun. But it has a really big map; I thought it would be smaller, but it's much bigger than you would think. Plus, it is definitely a game where you can chill, now traveling from one place to another.... that takes a long time. I kinda wish there was fast travel or something, but it's kinda nice to see the views you can stumble upon
It's good but if you want to play to breed horses it does take about 2-3 hours of game play to be able to breed your first foal and each horse has to have five of it's favorite foods or else you can't breed them together which is kinda a pain in the butt but whatever. I still like how you can go tame wild horses when you have space and can see the stats so if you want to sell or keep it you can.

Honestly, I know a lot of people dont like this game. And while its not ground breaking or anything like that- Its adorable, and as someone who does enjoy grinding games and whatnot, I really do like this game! I love the art style and the mechanics- I feel like the only thing I want more of is story, Ive finished the full story by now, and still spent a couple hours after playing for the vibes, so the story was probably done in about 5 and a half hours? Which just doesnt really feel like enough for it being a story based game- But id still recommend it if you want a cozy game to play, especially if you like spending time on things other than a storyline!
best game ever..jsut fun in general never had any bugs with it :,) literally love
this game is un and relestic and has littl obby before you get your horse
