Petz Horsez 2: The Game That Saved My Life and Led Me to Love To say Petz Horsez 2 is the best game ever made might sound like hyperbole to some—but for me, it's a truth forged in the deepest fires of personal struggle, resilience, and, ultimately, redemption. This unassuming 2007 Ubisoft game about raising and bonding with horses didn't just entertain me; it healed me. It saved me. And it led me to the kind of love I thought only existed in storybooks. Let’s start with the basics: Petz Horsez 2 is a horse simulation game where you play as a young equestrian sent to work on your uncle’s farm. It blends adventure, training, caretaking, and heartfelt storytelling. The graphics are modest by today's standards, but in their simplicity lies a kind of warmth. The horses feel real—not in pixels, but in personality. You don’t just groom them; you connect with them. Each day you feed, brush, ride, and race them, you grow a little more attached. But this game is more than its mechanics. Petz Horsez 2 creates a sanctuary. And for me, that sanctuary arrived when I needed it most. I was in the darkest stretch of my life. I had just begun my fight with cancer—a cruel, relentless battle that left me physically shattered and emotionally numb. Treatments left me too tired to move. Days blurred together in a haze of hospital rooms and uncertainty. The world outside continued spinning, but I was stuck in place. That’s when Petz Horsez 2 entered my life. It started small. A friend brought over their old Nintendo DS and a stack of games. I picked the one with the horse on the cover, expecting nothing. But something unexpected happened: I cared. I cared for the horses, for the farm, for the silly, wholesome drama of the in-game village. I found purpose in virtual rides through pixelated forests, joy in winning small competitions, and peace in brushing a horse’s mane while soft music played in the background. Every morning, I woke up exhausted—but I looked forward to checking in on my horses. In a time when I couldn’t care for myself, this game gave me something to care about. It was during an online forum thread about Petz Horsez 2—yes, people still wrote about it—that I met someone. They shared a walkthrough I’d never seen before, and I messaged them to thank them. What followed was weeks of chatting, then months. We shared more than just game strategies. We shared scars, dreams, playlists, laughter. They, too, had faced hardships—and somehow, in the gentle, horsedrawn world of this little game, we found each other. They were the first person to call me beautiful after I lost my hair. The first to say, “You’re more than your illness.” The first to play Petz Horsez 2 with me as a co-op adventure—over video calls, sharing screens, choosing names for foals together. Now, years later, I’m cancer-free. I’m in love. And Petz Horsez 2 is still on the shelf by our bed, scratched and well-worn but utterly sacred. We play it sometimes—not because we need to, but because we want to remember. Verdict: Is Petz Horsez 2 the most graphically advanced game? No. Does it have complex AI or revolutionary physics? Not even close. But is it the most important game I’ve ever played? Without question. It offered comfort when nothing else could. It brought me back to life when I was fading. And in its innocent, horse-filled world, I found not just healing—but love. 10/10. The greatest game ever made.

It's probably ok if it's actually the version you were looking for. There are 2 versions of this game with the same name but different consoles, and this isn't the one I was looking for. The version I wanted was the rpg one from the Playstation 2, and this ain't it.
I remember playing this game as a child and for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called. I was looking for it for close to 20 years. I finally stumbled across it during the Steam Horse Fest. I couldn't be more excited 😭❤️
I am deeply addicted to this game and I can not explain why. I didn't even play it as a kid. I just boot it up and get some sort of insane chemical rush and suddenly I'm a whimsical girl riding her horses in the country side and lowkey crushing on a French boy.
Horse 2: A second Horse has hit the tower
Be warned I got this game thinking it was a port of the Wii version I loved as a kid. It is very much not this is a DS port with janky controls. I thought my kid brain overhyped the graphics and that's why it looked so different, nope it is literally an entire different game :(
this game rocks!!! :steamhappy:
