They just don't make horse games like they used to anymore
(Ignore the hours, I've played this game too many times to count as a kid, and had to play this round in admin. You'll see why down below because it will also happen to you.)
[h2] Game Errors + Glitches: [/h2]
[h3] AlertForDebug [/h3]
You will most likely encounter the "AlertforDebug" error on first launch that will then immediately crash your game. If your game is not launching (or, it launches once, but not again) you'll have to change the game path in the boot.txt file to something like this:
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Petz Horsez 2
This is what my path looked like, but obviously the location the game/main file is going to be different for you. You can find the location by going to the game in your library, selecting gear icon on the game page, then "browse local files." You would copy that entire file location into that line of gamepath in boot.txt.
[h3] Saves [/h3]
When you save for the first time, it MAY add a duplicate Petz Horsez 2 folder within the MAIN Petz Horsez 2. You'll know if this happens if you get the AlertforDebug error again when launching after exiting your first session.
What you'll have to do is move the separated save file within that duplicate folder back into the MAIN Petz Horsez 2 folder. You can delete that leftover secondary folder once you confirm the save folder is moved into the main one. Make sure gamepath still correlates to the main folder (so when game launches, the system will know where to look for the save files in that main Petz Horsez 2 folder.)
[h3] If game is STILL not launching [/h3]
If this is the case, right click the commonplayer.exe in the Petz Horsez 2 folder and go into properties, then compatibility. Select compatibility mode to run for Windows 8. Then, select "Disable fullscreen optimizations" + "Run this program as an administrator." Hit apply and okay. W/ this option, you should be able to run w/ steam, otherwise right click the .exe file and run as admin.
[h3] Secondary Objectives. [/h3]
Once you're actually in the game, you'll eventually see that there are secondary objectives for the player to complete. If 80% of these objectives are completed, then you will get different (and better) endings. Most objectives unlock after you interact with the task, [b] HOWEVER!! [/b] Certain tasks do NOT show in the notebook and are NOT counted if you do them in the tutorial chapter: [u] Open laptop, Open library, Catch figurines, Communication activity, Lunging activity, Entering in the farm lounge, Going to the town hall place. [/u]
If these are done in tutorial, they do not count. If this happens you would have to manually go into the file and change it. Conversely, there are tasks that do not show in the journal, but DO count towards the secondary objectives: [u] reach endurance level 3, reach agility level 3 [/u]
