The game seems like a lot of fun, and I'm kinda enjoying my time with it. That being said, I would not recommend this game to anyone yet. Why? 1. The game launched some time ago, publishing its 1.0 version, but the game feels like it's still in early beta testing: - the world is huge, but there are no mounts to ride around (no, I don't wanna teleport all the time) - the animations are wonky - the attacks have very low impact and accuracy, making it hard to know when you will get hit or not - the building blocks/elements have weird placement styles, being very fiddly and hard to place correctly - the rotation of the blocks in not equal and differs from left to right by a few degrees (very annoying when building) - information about progression and development of character is scarce and weirdly placed (If u wanna craft something, you don't know where to look to find out what you need to do to achieve that) - when you enter the game, you need to ''praise the sun'' no matter what (you will always get blinded by the sun) - the sun in the game does not move smoothly, the new shadows just snap in place when the time passes (very immersion-breaking, especially when the game is built on vibes alone at this moment) - being in water drains stamina, and after that, health - there is no clear indication of where you find resources (there is a map divided by cool artwork, sadly, the legend representation is too small to distinguish anything on the big map) - you see cuts (the edge between world chunks or something) all over the map that brake emersion or block you from building a base where they are (because no one wants to see a random like that goes through the entire terrain in a game that is so beautiful) - there is no fishing 2. You need to pay a subscription because: - the plot you get is very small, allowing you to build only very tiny or cramped buildings - the game announces that a subscription is REQUIRED to play the game, so besides the box price, you need to pay another sum monthly to play - you will be forced to manually renew your base with in-game currency if you don't have a subscription, so if you are away from the game at the right time for more than 2 days(48h), your base is gone. 3. Progression is slow, largely because of your slow movement and lack of clear direction, so most people who have time to play only a few hours a month will feel like they make no progress at all. 4. There are way better games that have a similar vibe but play way better (I think the visuals are the only thing this game does better than the rest) Is this game fun? Not really, but it's enjoyable. If you are looking for a long grind and having long-term goals in a game that only forces you to pay a sum of money once per month you got your winner. Go grind rocks for half of the day just to barely finish the foundation of your house and live in a construction site for the foreseeable future. Why do I play this game? Mostly because I am bored and I have nothing to play at this moment, but also because I enjoy the looks and general vibes of this game. That being said, I could never recommend a game that was released in a ''full version'' yet feels like a beta game to someone.
Amazing game! The visuals are incredible, you can not only have your own house anywhere in the map, but the game also heavily relies on trade and cooperation with other players. Upon entering the world you will see amazing buildings built by players, some players running here and there gathering and crafting. World is full of life, fauna and flora are better than in any other MMO. Once you will try different playstyles, you can focus on few things, craft them and sell in the stall near your house / near the road. In exchange with earned gold you can travel to other players stalls to buy items you don't want to craft by yourself. You can build your home in the vilderness, or next to your neighbours to create fully functional village with them, form clans etc. And these are just my first 5 hours of the game! It is way more deep later with dungeons and boss fighting. It does not have any network or stability issues, like some other less known MMO's have. In terms of the gameplay, it is very similar to Valheim, but prettier and with bigger social potential (if you don't have your own colleagues to play, and want to play with random players) Game is breathtaking and ambitious and not so expensive, so please join the world and let's shape it together!
Absolutely love Pax Dei. Another reviewer mentioned that the more you put in, the more you get out, and I totally agree. Find an active clan, and a good community, and then get to work. Lots of content, and if you enjoy RP, then Join SIF. See you in game !
game practically makes you have to do things in groups. not much as far as content goes right now but the game def has potential to being something that can catch my ADHD
Great concept of a game with good building and PvE, PvP could be removed and doesn't really add anything to the game. However, the crafting is very grindy and the company is very greedy. A real shame this game could have been much bigger. The game used to have 5000 players, and now nearly 80% of the players are gone and no one wants to pay subscriptions in 2026. A real shame.
It's an alright game; map was made by AI so it's very varied in the land which feels nice, but this also causes major imbalance issues, some areas of map are just 1000x better than others. Also the monetization is kind of lame, they made it so you can maintain a plot as F2P not long ago, but if you pay monthly you get 50% EXP gains/money/grace gains, so legit P2W mechanics, feels kind of pointless playing without paying for it, because the progress pales in comparison. The UI is awful. The combat is also ♥♥♥♥, some weapons don't even have sound effects, farming NPCs feels like pulling teeth, so imagine the PvP, and a lot of resources are gated behind PvP. The only good thing about it is the building is quite neat, but the one plot you get as an F2P player really isn't enough land for a serious base, to really enjoy you'd be forced into buying multiple plots. I mean it's seriously tiny, like maybe 8 foundations across? Probably less. (Mind you a steel furnace takes like 3 foundations up, and 4 foundations footprint, probably more like 6. It is a beautiful game though, running purely on copium, doubt it'll ever get good.
scummy game, let players pay up to $100 for a big pack that has 4 plots to use then switched it to a subscription based game stealing peoples money. UI is trash,
I've been following this game since it's early testing phase, although I have not played in years. I really wanted to like this game, the reputation of some of the development team is incredibly impressive.....However....I did not enjoy a minute of this game even though I was desperately trying to. If you like building houses I guess it's alright, I personally don't. Progression in professions was a crawl, everything felt extremely painful from farming materials, to trying to increase skill in crafting. This to me felt like it's "content" or more so time sink of a grind in place of an actual game. On launch, there was a solid playerbase, I was with a group of roughly 20 or so folks, most stopped playing within a week after realizing how absolutely boring the game was. Combat is clunky as hell, bland, boring. You will spend most of your time walking from area to area (content?) trying to farm materials so you can maybe increase your crafting to make some really crappy gear. You can fail crafts. And you will. And you will gain nothing except frustration as the materials you spend days farming go right into the toilet. In order for a "mmorpg" to draw any attention they need to do something special. There needs to be some level of complexity. There needs to be some kind of story of environment that draws you in. This game has absolutely none of that. I periodically check the discord for any new information on the direction of the game, and there is very very little. They have fired the majority of the staff which makes a lot of sense considering how the launch went. Most players who hung around or are still around just like making houses. You can make some pretty awesome stuff in that regard, but for anyone like myself, it's not what I'm looking for. Picking up flowers, hoping that the 750th boar you kill drops a rare material that you need 20 of to maybe have a chance at leveling up a profession is absolute cancer. The grind is what it is, however at the end of the tunnel the reward feels genuinely bad. There are some weird dungeons that can drop gear that allow you to do things like heal, throw a fireball, etc, but again very very bland and boring. The last annoyance I actively remember is healing yourself. You need to grind out tons of materials all over the place with very long walks in order to make anything that matters. You get food buffs that will increase your regen, which will allow you to tick hp points back incredibly slowly. So you kill something, and then wait. And wait. And wait. And then you wait. TLDR: This game does not value your time, and "progression" feels terrible. There is genuinely nothing to do but farm X to make Y and once you've maxed your professions and weapon skills there really is nothing to do. Walk around mindlessly building more crap that does nothing. On top of that you have to pay actual money to have the rights to do that. Not good. Needs a complete ground level overhaul or this game will simply fade into nothing and go offline.
