I found the puzzles a bit repetitive and did not enjoy the humor that much. The player also has to accept that clicking everywhere on the screen is the core gameplay mechanism. That said, bought for barely more than 1€ during the summer sale, it delivered for the price. So, recommended in that context.
Even though it is clearly a ported mobile game, i was amazed how much better this gameplay style of point&click games are. With the zoom in-out feature, you can always be sure that an item is important, without needing to highlight or print the name. It even give you that little excitement when the zooming happen bc you know you found smth. As for the character movement, its a blend of the best. * You don't have a guy walking around (Monkey Island) * You not freeroaming in 3D space (Talos principle) * You not just clicking 2d images. (like 90% of them) The camera is you. Myst did something similar, but man, not this smooth. Loved it
Agent A was never going to be a particularly complex or sophisticated game. That much was clear from the demo. Regardless, I thought it would be some good, old-fashioned mindless entertainment. Unfortunately, as low as this bar might sound, Agent A does not clear it. Firstly, the writing in the narration is horrendous. There are constant missing periods or other punctuation at the end of sentences. Worse, there are many comma splices. In the context of informal dialogue, this might have been acceptable were they infrequent, but in Agent A, they are far too noticeable. Aside from grammar, Agent A's running commentary detracts from the rest of the game. I expected silliness, but Agent A just sounds condescending in telling Ruby to get a bottle of Dom Pérignon ready or remarking that she should have gotten her bullet vest. Agent A brags about being a super spy, yet says, "Ugh no way I'm swimming in there, you know fish pee in the ocean right!?" Less importantly, there is far too much backtracking in the last 2-3 chapters, and the camera movement is distracting. Some of the inventory puzzles are odd: I suppose reducing inventory makes the game easier and limits what players can attempt, but I don't understand why we throw away a wrench only to pick up a different one later. It makes the process of playing this game frustrating. Between these issues, I unfortunately cannot recommend this game, even for players going in with low expectations.
To say, I would recommend if I buy this on mobile or pad, but not for a PC. I finized the game, for the compelte achievement, even play tiwce to get the last one. But it is not enjoyable when playing through. The graphic and atmosphere are attractive, but the control is designed for touch screen, not for a console. The back trace is very annoying. The puzzle games are OK if they are puzzle games. Some of the tasks in the game are running around to collect information, missing part of an object, together wth the control and back tracking, that part is not quite a good feeling.
A very enjoyable puzzle-adventure, of without walkthrough some 8 casual hours. A few too many achievements that don't add much: it's a better game when not 100%-ing it. One thing. Why did the screwdriver get stuck in the grammophone in the first place??
One of the worst "puzzle" games i've played this year, I say "puzzle" because most of them weren't puzzles, it was just a matter of getting a piece of information somewhere and then using it elsewhere, nothing to figure out or think about. The worst part about it was the backtracking, even with perfect knowledge and play the amount of backtracking is truly obnoxious and incredibly unnecessary. A smaller but still annoying issue was the MC's dialogues being completely tonally out of place compared to the rest of the game, sounding more like jokes from a 12 year old boy than anything else, while the rest of the game was relatively tonally consistent with occasionally comedic cheesy spy tone. Lastly the art, while technically quite well done it also suffered due to a lack of attention to detail as the game went on, keys for example start out colorcoded with locks but this is lost later on, and certain objects, like the mailbox, look entirely different up close and far away, changing both shape and color.
Cute little puzzle/escape game, very good for an introduction to Point & Click games (nice cat and annoying bird)
