Fixer Undercover

You're an undercover maintenance man in a corrupt prison. You use your "handyman" tools to find ways around obstacles. If you enjoy escape room style puzzle games, then I think you'll enjoy this one. The game took me 8 hours exactly to complete. The game had a wide variety of puzzles. Most of the puzzles were of casual difficulty, however, several of the puzzles had me stumped so that I had to use the hint system. One puzzle in particular had me having to look at a YouTube walkthrough to find the solution. There is some repetition because you're constantly using your tools in similar ways, such as using the electric drill to unscrew several screws or the wire cutter to cut wires, but these tools were generally fun to use and it gave the puzzles a tactile, rewarding feeling to solving them. There is also a little bit of a story. There's these intermissions that give you a break from the puzzles and a bit of story via dialogue with your friend Winston. You may look at Winston and think he's yet another among the long line of annoying flying drone companions in VR and you'd be mostly right. However, Winston isn't as annoying as others and while he does give unsolicited hints, they're mostly hints for stuff that you would have easily figured out on your own rather quickly. Winston does have some funny lines and he's mostly harmless. You can always pet him or hit him with a hammer. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 5090, I was getting a steady 90 fps. There are several graphical options in the settings as well. While I did experience some minor bugs / issues, there was a patch right after I beat the game (pre-release) so I won't mention them here (I did post them on Steam community forum just in case). You do have full locomotion, along with smooth turning available. You can play comfortably seated. Overall, I enjoyed the game. I think it's solid overall. It has a fun premise. My biggest complain would probably be the music, I had to turn it off because I didn't like it. Some of the VR interactions weren't as smooth as you'd hope (example: I would constantly get my power tool by accident instead of picking up an item from the ground). While this game isn't quite on the level of something like Red Matter or Ghost Town, it isn't too far off either. It's a fun romp and the VR puzzle adventure genre is quickly becoming one of the best genres in VR. Great game that desperately needs optimization. I feel like my 2080 Super isn't *that* outdated, but I still have to play at the lowest quality settings. The problem is that I literally can't see some of the puzzle hints at that quality level. I also had to relaunch the game due to a bug where the jackhammer sound kept playing after the loading screen. In spite of this, it's a fun game. Why was it locked inside fakebook's walled garden for so long?

What a wonderful game. You are a spy solving a big case as a fixer. Common tools to do a Hard job. Nice puzzles and obvious solutions that many will not see right away. the machines you fix work . the graphics are fin and everything works with the controllers. Im using Pimax Crystal Light and everything looks great. Quantum Void and Fixer undercover made my week. Everything you can hold its helpful in solving the case. Creativity AR , Kudos!

controller support is needed badly dont try playing on steam deck in its current form you will have a real bad time.

Прикольная головоломка. В виаре играется намного лучше. Думаю, изначально это игра именно для него, а плоская версия по остаточному признаку. Управление довольно неудобное, точка интеракции с объектами не всегда понятная, пытаешься что то взять, но указатель вешается в очень узком окне. Есть проблемы с считыванием контроллеров и позиционировании в пространстве. Играл на квесте 3 через стимлинк и через виртуал десктоп - контроллеры норовят улететь за спину или куда еще подальше. Однако кор геймплей прикольный, загадки несложные, но и не простые - нормальные, в общем. Купить и поиграть можно, но рекомендовать могу только для виара

Schön das es nun erschienen ist. Hatte schon meinen Spaß in der Demo, auch wenn diese recht kurz ist. Machte aber Lust auf mehr, umso mehr habe ich mich auf den Release gefreut. Bin gespannt wohin die Reise geht und was es alles auf dem Weg zu entdecken gibt. Hoffe auf diesem Wege auf eine annehmbare Spielzeit und zusätzliche Inhalte in naher Zukunft. Warum ich sowas "verlange" ? Na hallo, ist doch witzig umgesetzt und sprüht vor frischen Ideen .. Außerdem habe ich beim Entwickler noch das Spiel "Ship Simulator 2024" als bevorstehende Ankündigung entdeckt... Das wird wohl eh nichts mehr und so haben diese eh gerade Zeit für das Spiel *Zwinker* So muss weiter irgendwo an irgendwas rumschrauben ....... Gefällts Dir auch ? Game looks great on PC, gameplay is well executed, it's satisfying to use the tools and the puzzles are good. Pretty much it's an escape room game with spy flavor. Enjoying it so far!

I'm playing on a Meta Quest 3 using Virtual Desktop, and the game runs well! The puzzles aren't too hard, but they're not too easy either. They're fun to solve with the tools. The secret agent atmosphere is nice and i like my little robot companion ! He's funny!

Been waiting for this since the NextFest demo & it delivers! I play lots of puzzles games so got through most of it pretty smoothly but a few stumped me for a bit until I got creative. But I don't mind the puzzle difficulty as it just plays so well, you've got a limited kit of stuff but they kept the puzzle variety really fresh through the whole experience, each one is pretty unique and takes some deduction & creative usage of your tools. Playthrough was bug free, some physics collisions were a little sketchy(hands / area specific tools getting snagged) but nothing that really detracted from the experience. Audio & graphics were great, played with everything maxed out. Did a great job with the PCVR release - I couldn't tell this was originally a Quest game. Runs great on Linux via both SteamVR & Monado w/ my BSB2e & Index controllers.

If you like VR puzzle games, you should definitely give this one a try. If you're unsure, play the demo first. I spent about 10 minutes with it before deciding to buy the full game. Fixer Undercover is an entertaining VR puzzle game with good graphics, nice puzzles, and a level of polish that's unfortunately rare among newer VR titles. While it has a few flaws, it's well worth the price and easily ranks in the top third of the VR puzzle games I've played, because the VR integration is well done. The biggest issue is the handholding in some of the puzzles. The robot companion or the main character sometimes points via voice to the solution, which becomes annoying. Strangely the handholding happens for some of the the easier puzzles, for some of the harder ones there is no automatic hint at all (which is a good thing). At the very least, there should be an option to disable this, especially since the game already includes a separate hint system for players who need help.
