What's that? All your papers are in order? Well, ♥♥♥♥ you anyway. Denied, and glory to Arstotzka.
I wish there was an achievement for getting all the endings
Maybe this is what unemployed people play to find fulfillment in life, but man, I would rather work my 9-5 than play this game. The amount of effort and exhaustion that comes with learning this game might as well go into working an actual job. I went in thinking this would be a fun "catch the discrepancies, lol fun fun yippie!" and not a "ok so no what you wanna do is check this with that and don't forget this rule and consult the manual and oh by the way your family of 12 is starving to death" like what in the world The tutorial is also very bad. It was a struggle to learn exactly how to use certain mechanics even after reading the manual over and over and over again. You essentially have to learn by doing, which at that point you only get to admin 5 people before the next day. It has a snowball effect where you barely learn one thing, and then the next day you're introduced to a new mechanic or something else, making yourself even more confused. If I hadn't known the gist of this game and went in blind, I would have been totally lost
One of the best simplest games! At the end of the day you always have to work at the border, but this game makes it so much interesting. It transforms a repetitive, bureaucratic job into a gripping puzzle of logic, morality, and survival. Every document check feels like a high-stakes decision where your family's fate is on the line. A masterclass in minimalist design that stays with you long after the shift ends. Glory to Arstotzka!
